Mamma Mia up the Mae Jo road is much better and more reasonably priced for what you get. Also, the owner is Italian, so he knows what he's doing.
i would describe it as only a notch better. it's really aimed at the Thai audience. both are better than the place at the enterence to moobaan Tanawan but that's not saying much.

they have them at Kad Luang. you just have to walk around the sois near the Chinese temple and look for them.

The real surprise for me was the garden salad (95baht) which was huge - enough for two - and loaded with mixed vegetables including julienned beets and radishes. The dressing was a delicious passion fruit vinigrette which was oh so good. I think I''d go back just for the salad.
the real surprise for me was the Caesar salad at 120 Baht. previously my favorite had been from Steak of the Day. but this Caesar salad may be a tad better and a much more generous portion. Thai friends really liked the Caesar too. i've been back a couple of times and just ordered Caesar salad.
the other items are hit and miss. we tried the pizza once and it didn't have much flavor at all. but after some salt, pepper, oregano and olive oil it was better. the crust is overly thin IMO.
the place is nice and comfortable and the people are friendly. this place really does have potential.

If only this would happen in America where it is long overdue - those would be glory days.
i've been saying this for the last 20 years.

Is this happening now? Photos of riot police at Tha Pae?
To be clear, they are army and not police.
wonder what they think might happen tonight in the city? any red shirt sightings? i was out yesterday and today and found it to be amazingly quiet, kinda like C.M. about 8 or 9 years ago. i passed Thaphae but it was much earlier in the day. didn't see any soldiers.

Thak has so many he holds in his pocket its going to take months to weed them out. I just hope Prayuth is not only focusing on people but also looking at the financial books of these people and the governments spending

from what i read elsewhere, on Monday begins the job of looking into the financial affairs and checking the books of all the parties involved, from the very top all the way down.

Maybe they'll all be just as effective implementing change in Thailand as they've been in Ukraine, Syria, Nigeria, …….
look what a wonderful job they did implementing "democracy" in Iraq, Libya and Afghanistan.

these 'foreign leaders' can stick their heads where the sun don't shine. no doubt it's the Americans stirring things up and leading the rant. they don't know what goes on here and how out of control things were.
"...Malaysians living in Thailand should... maintain sufficient stocks of food and water at home". LOL

Röhm-Putsch ?
kind of, yes.
any way, good work general. keep rounding them up and detaining them. a dirty, corrupt house like that needs a lot of cleaning.
Thai people i speak with are very impressed with, and grateful to you for what you are doing and like your no non-sense approach. almost all say "where was he earlier?"

unbelievable bunch of losers on this site
Shocking so many people can be so stupid
can you elaborate? i tend to agree but don't see it in this thread.

I feel sort of sad for her in a way. Thaksin in essence forced her into this position, and
then gave her skype instructions on how to loot the country. What at first seemed
like power and free shopping trips abroad has now turned horribly wrong for her..
maybe, but she was a willing co-conspirator.

True is now giving me the same Thai program on every channel. I was kind of hoping for more.
undoubtedly the Royal News which airs from 20:00-21:00 every day in Thailand. last night it was across all 70+ channels in our house.

who comes to live in a foreign country to sit around and watch television???
I know a lot of expats who sit around and watch TV at pubs. Does that count?
I like Masterchef because I cook some myself. The reason I am miffed is that it's a three-month competition and it's now in the final week with the final three contestants. Sure, life won't end because I will have missed it, but it still seems churlish to cut off pure entertainment channels. And the live broadcast of the NBA playoffs is something I can't get back (the live part, that is).
I would think there would be massive hell to pay if this had cut off key matches in the World Cup.
And what about all those Distance Learning channels? Those poor kids in remote parts of Issan can't get their education now!
Anyway....
Commandeering the TV stations seems like nothing short of bullying to me.
By the way, the music channels on the audio side of True Visions is still working as before.
i was only joking with you. don't take it too seriously.
i like Master Chef too.

NBA playoffs, Masterchef Australia finals week and the military jams EVERY channel on True Visions satellite service. Still now a poster screen for the "National Peace and Order Maintaining Council," is broadcast along with old patriotic songs.
It's really exasperating and frustrating. How long is this going to last, one wonders....
i'm sure those in command are deeply sorry for disrupting your TV watching schedule this weekend. buy a book.

Night time curfew means the destruction of the tourism industry and all the impoverished ladies working in Pattaya and Phuket will have to go back to the rice farms and earn 200 bhat a day. This is punishing the poor red shirts who no longer have their daughters and ladyboy sons send money back home to feed their families
these type of posts by newbies really get boring.

i think i'm going to go to the ATM and get some cash now. could be a run on the banks in the morning and ATM's could be empty.
-
there are reports in the general forum that the Internet will be cut at 22:00!
-
Hmmm. Hopefully this only lasts the next day or two.

If you have money deposited at Thai banks you better take it out. This will not be a 2 day coup.
why would one withdraw their cash? you are panicking.
-
probably won't apply to some tourists areas, can't imagine all of them sitting in their hotel drinking beer and watching TV.
They can do that back in their falang country.
there's no TV to watch. it's all been shut down.

I just checked WETV. Everything was fine, but after a few minutes BBC went off the air. However, Channel News Asia was still working and their coverage of Thailand's political situation is quite good. Will they vanish too?
gone......

I take that back. Just went down.
Still working here... WeTV
CNN, BBC, Bloomberg and CNBC are now off the air.
