I am a platinum subscriber and signed up for the 20 free extra channels yesterday. They will send me an sms confirmation within 2 working days. Don't know what the extra channels are yet but no doubt they will tell me.
Seems to be a no brainer if the concession expires in September 2014.

Light plastic netting secured by thin cord top and bottom. I use at my condo and no birds. Buy it at most hardware type stores.

As long as you deposit by 11am, you pick up at 2pm. That is the normal.

Since being in Bangkok, I have been under the Sukhumvit Hospital at Ekkamai for high blood pressure and cholesterol - the tablets they recommend for me are Ramipril, Bestatin, and Anlopine and are provided by the hospital pharmacy. They cost about 5000 baht for 3 months supply.

I am from the UK and currently holder of a multi Non Imm 'O' for retiree issued by Hull which expires on 5th June. On Tuesday of next week (6th May) I shall be visiting the UK when it is expected I will be appointed a 'Specialist Consultant' to a UK firm and required to promote their products in Thailand and to businesses in the region, and attend demonstrations and Trade Fairs etc.
I appreciate I can be issued a Non Imm Business Visa for this purpose, but what additional evidence do I need apart from a Letter from the UK firm. I already have over 800,000 baht in a Thai Bank, and am married to a Thai wife.
It is easier for me to travel to London as it is to Hull, so I gather than London is the better option.
Advice please.

I suggest that you have the cheque paid in monthly via Bangkok Bank's London office in sterling. The instructions are very clear and on the Bangkok Bank website. The most important thing is the Payment Reference, which is actually your Bangkok Bank account number followed immediately by the swift code. The cheque will probably take 4 days to clear, which is normal for cheques in the UK.

The most important thing to include when you do a transfer via Bangkok Bank in New York or London is the Payment Reference - that is your Bangkok bank account number in full followed by the swift code. Always send the amount in $ to obtain the best conversion rate of the day.
Follow the instructions given here and you won't go wrong.

I am 70 years of age and just rebuilt my in-laws house into a 4 bedroom, european style house, with all mod-cons. One of the bedrooms is for my wife and I. The house is located in a village about 100 miles north of Korat. I spent one week there and my wife spent one month - I was bored to tears, although I did enjoy working on the farm placing 'sugar tree' ready for planting. we live in a condo in Bangna, Bangkok when we are not in Isaan.
Personally, I agree with others, it will be the children who will be suffering the most in the change in lifestyle.

I have used my B1st debit card to buy an airline ticket online, with no problem. Just have to show the card to check-in.

The 'personal banking' arm was sold to a Thai bank, as stated about 18 months ago. I use Bangkok Bank who have a London office to undertake cheap transfers from my UK bank to my Bangkok Bank in Thailand, transferring sterling. They convert sterling to Baht in Thailand.

If you can, always travel about 8 days before Songkran to avoid the traffic jams on the roads with the masses going home. As recommended here, the buses to CM are comfortable and good value for money, as well as numerous during the day. I would not use the train due to the uncertainty of derailments and late arrival.

We put them along the walls and inside cupboards. We have no pets so no answer to that question.

I use Naphthalene balls obtainable through Big C - kills all my little brown ants - 500 balls for about 63 baht.

When I got through to Emirates, I was told to go to their offices in Asoke and take my passport, which I did and the flight changes were made with no problem. It was convenient for me as I lived at Phra Khanong at the time.
Warning - double bank charges on money transfers
