I use Chrome and no problem whatsoever, also on my android phone with a different pin number with no problem either. A really good service.

I would definitely go to the Philippines, although far wetter climate than Thailand.

My choice would be to purchase insurance in the UK and then abide by their claims rules in the event of a claim.

Reference NancyL's post - I am a UK citizen residing in Thailand and at 70 years of age I was able to obtain Health Insurance from CIGNA although admittedly I pay £250 monthly for 2m baht cover and if admitted to hospital, a one off payment of £2000.

I question your friend's use of the HSBC security facility. I have an HSBC account and security facility which works fine in Thailand. I suspect he just stopped paying his Student Loan and is using the HSBC facility as an excuse!

You need to appreciate that I paid NI contributions for 40 years and that my Thai wife gets Bereavement allowance to assist my burial / cremation expenses whether in the UK or Thailand

My Thai wife will get 50 percent of my two occupational pensions but I am ingerested to read she may also be entitled to the Bereavement allowance.

There is an engineer or two in a shop beside the BTS at Phra Khanong who undertakes repairs to all manor of domestic equipment. They may be helpful.

Ensure that your wife uses her BP to leave the UK and enter Thailand, she will then have no problem re-entering the UK with the same passport or renewing it from Thailand - it will remain valid for 10 years.

I jointly own a condo with my Thai wife. When we registered at the Amphur Office we were told that my wife would get the blue book and that I would get the yellow book, which is exactly what we each received.

I booked two separate flights on the official Nok Air website and it works fine. My guess is you RE using a copy site. You need to do a VIRUS check afterwards just to make sure you haven't caught one!

My 13 digit ID number in my yellow book starts with a 6 and ends in a 0 issued at Bangna Amphur office.

Many years ago, I purchased a house in Cha-am in my then g/f's name. It was a holiday home and she subsequently disappeared. I consulted a Thai lawyer, had all the receipts, etc for the house and furniture, and was told my claim was not pursuable.
If you are being offered 50% then take it ASAP.

If you have a UK address, then you can apply for an IDL through the AA. By having an IDL, and applying for a Thai DL, it saves you from taking a full Thai driving test.

I recently purchased mine with the help of a lawyer and it only took a few days. You need to find out the ratio of foreigners owning condo units within the condo building from the Juristic person first though, as only 49% total are allowed.
