The link has a sidebar with the map location shown. It's in Guam, so not much use to us. As to public transportation, how much time do you have for your trip(s) to the beach? Are we talking day trips, weekend, a week..?
One or two days

Let me guess, you didn't click on the link, Sunshine.
Hint: It's not Thailand.
I did click but didn't see any info

He said beach with cleanest water. For that you can skip all the beaches within 200km of Bangkok, trash or no trash. I looked at the pollution in satellite imagery a few years ago, there's nothing 'clean' near Bangkok. Where the clean (cleaner) water starts also depends on seasonal currents. Search Google for "free satellite imagery" for [near] real time imagery. So, clean water and no trash (human or plastic), Good Luck.
That's what I mean: Clean Water!

It sounds like a good beach. But I'm not a rich foreigner with a car. I need public transportation.

It doesn't show where it is or how clean the water is. You're not so bright.

That's right. Now I remember. But I had to go back to the US embassy and pay again for another one because immigration said they lost the one I submitted before !

Maybe he is right. I can't remember for sure. I thought as long as you are here legally you just go and get it.
But, yes, When I got my ret visa 3 years ago, I already had got the 60 day visa from the Thai embassy in Washington D C

Right. They don't ask anything. You just show the proof of income and application form for the ret. visa. That's all.

You don't convert it to anything. You just get the ret. visa

What do you think the affidavit is? It's proof of income! Take it to imm. , pay the fee and get your ret. visa and go.

Thanks!
I'd rather get the affidavit than transfer all that money to a Thai bank account, and I've heard it's easier. This is starting to be more clear.
1) I apply to convert my tourist visa to a non-Imm O for 2,000 baht within the last 30 days of my 60 day tourist visa. I'm assuming that is a 30 day extension?
2) I get an income avidavit from the US consulate in CM for $50. (Can I get that before getting the non-imm visa, or can I at least schedule an appointment ahead of time that falls within the earlier part of that 30 day window so it's not a race against time?)
3) I go back to immigration with my affidavit and whatever other necessary documentation and then I get my one year extension. And I don't need to leave the country! How much is the one year extension?
Yes you can get the affidavit anytime within a month before. 1 year ret visa fee is 1900 baht

Thanks.
I've read that as well, and I think it was the first thing I read.
My question was whether the American consulate in Chiang Mai (or the Embassy in Bangkok, but I'm closer to CM) would provide income affidavits to people just over 50. Just because the Thai government considers 50 retirement age doesn't necessarily mean the US consulate or embassy does.
And then my questions were about logistics.
It has nothing to do with what the US embassy considers r age to be. You just go there and swear that you receive whatever amount per month and pay the 50 dollars and get the affidavit and leave!

Hi there, my name’s Patrick and I’m a recovered alcoholic. If there are any alcoholics out there suffering, please feel free to PM me and I’d be happy to tell you how I recovered.
I go to AA but totally disagree with the watered down version they have these days, i.e “one day at a time”, “just go to meetings” , “the only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking” etc
Your quotes are not at all from " these days " , I remember them from the 1960's when I was a child going to AA meetings with my dad

Dude was 62 and probably married a local younger than his daughter. Could be foul play or maybe it’s just some old guy who had more sex in a month than he did his whole life and his poor heart gave out.
His name was Dude ?

To be " surprised literally how much easier " as opposed to what, "surprised figuratively " ?

I am wondering how much in advance of expiration date ( January 26 ) I should go to get another retirement visa. Does it matter if I go in December or will they say its too early ?

My neighbor was a three pack a day smoker, who cut down to two packs a day. He told me he had been smoking for 30 years. At 54, he had a stroke. It was pretty bad. He couldn't talk for weeks He had a physical therapist come several times a week.
Now he is back to two packs a day.
What have you done to change your lifestyle to make it healthier?
He has had 2 strokes. Why are you asking him what he has done to change?!

This is getting scary. Most of the time my entire body is hurting, every muscle, every bone. Every kind of movement causes discomfort.
Never heard of anything like that. I am afraid to mention this to the Medics, fearing they will classify me as a hypochondriac, or them sending me off to the nearest psychiatrist.
This sounds like a joke, but to me, the problem is VERY REAL.
Anyone?
Thx & cheers.
I have felt like this increasingly in recent years! It's not " pain ", but rather, soreness and lethargy and total lack of energy. Also, over the last 12 years since reaching 50 I never can sleep longer than about 2 or 3 hours and then have to spend 1,2 or 3 hours trying to get back to sleep again. Needless to say, it ruins my life.

It's " whoever " , not " whom ever " , as anyone of normal intelligence knows. Very elementary grammar.
