Thai PBS has this vid which explains what happened - i went looking on the way home from work and could not see anything from someone driving from downtown to be able to do this - but there did used to be an opening in the cement dividers that you could stop and turn into - but it appears she was coming up the onramp TOWARDS bangkok and there was an opening in the cement wall which she drove thru thenturned right to carry on out the end of thetollway and right down onto Viphawadee below.... yikes - anyway - it's pretty much all there in the vid and with a graphic clip of what happened...still pretty hard to believe but there it is i never saw this opening in the cement as alwasy stepping on the gas getting up the ramp to head to downtown and not looking for a turn into the all but closed off tollway - but there was an opening on both sides it seems and yes you could drive in there and then drive off the end...

  2. they can drop a yaba pill into one of your pockets - so yes good of saramsland to mention that to check their hands first as well - also once they got your urine sample they can stick the yaba test paper in it as well... have to stand up for yourself tho as it can go bad quick if it is a slow day and they need to get their quota money back to the big boss - whomever it is ...

anyway - good to know about soi 21-23 - have a friend coming to right there staying soi 15 so will tell him to be careful

  3. Caution to all using this highway. It's has a peculiar narrowing exit from four lanes to two. This due to the unfinished highway as some previously posted. There are barriers that help guide you down the exit but if you travelling at speed and with the dim lights, can be dangerous. I used this highway almost daily and at times when I am tired, I too have near misses. To the poor lady, RIP.

Eric only 3 lanes down to 2 at the end I live in the white house noobahn just 1/4 mile away and take the tollway home everyday after work... not the best but really hard to see how you could launch your car over the cement walls unless going to fast actually and yes some crazy drivers flying down the fast lane to get back over to the Rangsit exit every night - and the odd guy going straight at the last S curve just before the downramp there... but the slow lane is the one that is blocked off to get back into the middle or fast lane - but at midnight on there is really nobody on the road there so I am wondering how the woman didn't see the end of the tollway ... anyway - have been driving this way for 5 years now every day after work and also flying home from downtown late at night once in a while and you would have to be going too fast or not watching to really fly off somewhere - will have a look tuesday night on the way home and take some pics without getting hit by a car and post ...

Steve - rangsit white house moobahn guy...

  4. does someone actually have a photo of the deadend part of this highway? I'm trying to get a better understanding of where the final exit of this expressway is in relation to the dead end of the unfinished road.

will try to take a few pics tuesday night on the way to show you that it is impossible to drive thru any cement walls and out to the end of the blocked off tollway which sits high right above Viphawadee rd. the 3 into 2 lanes narrowing is maybe a problem if not watching but there is some plastic red posts and painted road on the left side which is the slow lane that is blocked narrowing to the middle and fast 2 lanes... she must have gone off the left side there somehow... the fast land and middle lane just drop right down into the straight downramp which runs down right along side the stargith off dead of the tollway - but no way to get over there as the road is all marked off with painted cement 3 ft high block and runs straight down to the down ramp... only the 3rd slow lane ends and you have to get over to the middle and fast lanes to go down the ramp... painted stripes on the road and red plastic posts mark the end...but yes I know the road as i take it every day and also late night once a week... must have been a distraction or something if the person was not asleep or inebriated as it is not that bad at the end of the VPwadee tollway to take the downramp back to the road below.... RIP once again ...

  5. well I live just past the end of this road and take it everyday - but took today off work so I didn't drive it tonight on the way home from work... yes it is 3 lanes at the end of the tollway narrows to 2 for the downramp - BUT it is physically IMPOSSIBLE to drive off the barricaded end of the toll way as the downramp is all walled off with the concrete barriers... however that being said ... about 300 yards or so from the actually downramp there IS a narrow 15-20 ft opening in the cement barricade on the right side fast lane that if you actually stop on the tollway - dead stop... you could turn in to the last 3-500 yards of the tollway that does continue on to the dead end barricade up above the downramp... directly above Viphawadee rd. saw some 3-4 cars in there one night doing something - but extremely hard to stop dead and turn right into the opening as you have to know it was there.... but yes you could and then hit the gas and carry on to the end and drive off the end... but really impossible to do... 3 lanes into 2 and down the ramp... my drive home every day - will have a look tuesday night on the way home and see just what happened if still can see anything... but amazing... unless at the end of the 3 into 2 lanes she hit the LEFT side cement blocks and went over the left side if she missed the lanes narrowing... but lots of red and white paint on all those cement barricade walls out there... i actually stop in there at a pull off there many nights and take a pic or two of the sunset if worthwhile... anyway RIP but extremely hard to actually launch yourself off the tollway at the end - but lighting is bad a mile back and there is the last S curve right at the end - so if 2 am and tired or something then you could smack into the concrete walls somewhere..the actual outside walls of the tollway cement are about 3.5 ft high so anything is possible if you were to launch a vehicle up off the smaller cement blocks... sorry to hear ...but should not be based on a bad bit of road - unless going to fast or falling asleep or not getting the 3 into 2 lanes - but that would also be going to fast as a big sign says tollway ends I believe... anyway ...sorry to hear - tollway accidents do end up down below sometimes...yikes...

  6. Congratulations.

I wish i could someday also become a Thai citizen, atleast i now know it is a possibility.

Can you please post some details like:

    - how old you are?

    - was there a minimum salary?

    - how long have you been here?

    - how long have you been a PR?

    - how good is your Thai?

    - when you went through the process were there many others doing the same thing?

P.S. Ignore the jealous posters saying stuff like "Who would want it?" and "Whats the big deal about owning land and a business?"

I bet if they could get Thai citizenship they'd jump at the chance.

    http://legacy.phuketgazette.net/issuesanswers/details.asp?id=759

Article says 80,000 bt per month salary or if married to a thai only 30,000 bt per month

  7. well well well maybe Sherlock and Watson have solved this... too many guesses thrown out in the media - no one real police spokesperson... lots of DNA - anyone ever decide to check the garden hoe for fingerprints? or did these 3 guys have the smarts to wipe any prints off? they seem to have left cig butts at the crime scene and if only 65 meters away earlier with lots of witnesses at least they were put near the scene...obviously dna of saliva from ciggie butts and semen should nail them ... but sort of well done anyway - without global media coverage this might have turned into a "too hard to solve" file... but kudo's to the Police for actually making it happen and I hope they got the guys as it sounds like maybe they did ...

  8. change your ATM pin numbers on a regular basis - like once a month -and put your other hand over the hand hitting the 4 pin numbers - look for a fake plastic card slot and a fake key pad.. they can only use the info with your PIN number.... i live out in the burbs in northern bangkok and just had my ATM card hacked but only 1000 bt withdrawn at 2 am friday night... have canceled the card and moved the money to another account and will get to the bank monday to see if they can tell me where the money was taken out ...and find out the story... only 1000 bt ok so lucky but could have been 100,000... am not using downtown ATM's and only use a few out here to and from work out in the burbs so now I am suspicious of the 2 or 3 atm's I do use...not that many but... wow... will wait and see what kaisakorn bank says but pretty scary for a non toruist and NOT using any tourist spot ATM's... yikes....

  9. Gen P has a few 100 ? billion baht to spend now that the rice scam money is off... but maybe tourist money is down a bit or a lot over the visa deal, we will see if new stuff coming out tomorrow? but if they cut back on the wasted money scams and maybe do some more corruption homework they will have a few more 100 billion baht to play with... but dropping the excise tax is also a nice way of getting the poor vote for lower gas prices... let's see how much Gen P and boys can save Thailand and stop the flow of wasted money all over the place and put money to proper good use...talk about moving mountains - but I think they are going to try to move a lot of mountains before all the dust settles.... 5 5 5

  10. I hope T's "give P's gov a chance" wasn't for a deal cut to keep Y out of court over the rice scam and anything else ? still remains to be seen who is going to be charged over 500 billion baht +/- lost over the 3 years of the rice deal...but I like the Gen. and hope he does good - seems like a down to earth guy and if he ran in a real voted election he might just swing the vote away from the red's - after some new laws on how to bankrupt Thailand with populist vote getting schemes get enacted... we will see...his PM thing actually made a few MSM websites yesterday altho not headlined...

  11. yes they give some "charm" to say lower Sukumvit....ar ar ar i don't live downtown but trying to walk on the what is left of the sidewalk is a pain... single file as everyone walks by the stalls - and try not to get something poked in your eye as you do.... and does anyone really buy much of the stuff? and now with lots of less "tourists" ... yes I guess it is a mandatory walk by for real tourists and yes they do need to make money... oh well... they must pay some big "rent" money every month as well to the police or the shop owners they are setting up in front of as well for all the electric they use...but also clean sidewalks and it just wouldn't be Bangkok anymore...maybe Chatuchak 2 is required right downtown somewhere? 5 5 5

  12. one day after work a year ago my Vigo pick up was parked 50 yards from the office front door with a stoned out guy sleeping in the bed of the truck ... so he doesn't move when i ask him to "pai lao" and the owner of the car shop is there and he talks to him and says he just wants to go down the road... ok ok ok I go down the road with buddy in the back and do my U turn and he still doesn't want to get out - says " Pai glup bahn doai" yah right - wants to come home with me.... ok ok so after the U turn is the big police station on Sisamn rd in Nonthaburi so I pull over to the curb and low and behold the big police captain is there as the cops are doing some 6 pm exercise in the parking lot.. so I tell Capt. that buddy "mai ow pai pom rot" and "Pom glub bahn and mai ow khun" in my truck and I don't know this guy... well that was about it... Capt. grabs him by the T shirt and gets him out of the back of the truck... and sorry to say - not sure if he was on yaba or just drunk but I think he ended up in the free hotel...I Wai'd the Capt and was on my way... but yes - drunk or not - am wondering why the german's GF didn't step in real quick and tell him to stop.... if the wife is the car with me and honk the horn man that is like a BIG no no... you just never know who is going to slam on the brakes and get of a car with a gun becuase you gave the guy the horn.... anyway rip german dude... if he owned a bar methinks he should have done the cool thing first instead of yelling at the kids.. and the thai GF should have maybe been able to calm things down.... you never know here when the straw breaks....had the family kid get out of the army and staid at our place for 2 weeks... we had a classic Yamaha 250cc bike here from the DIL's BF that we were in charge of - nice bike but the back tire was flat... anyway ex soldier nephew decided to take it over a few miles to see his gf after I told him do not ride it as the back tire was flat, had no insurance....etc.... so yah - he takes it out and it runs out of gas... so he gets back here and no bike... and I lose it.... was yelling at him that if I was his sargent he would have to stay 2 more years in the army because he can't listen.... anyway - after a minute or two rant he pulls out his soliders knife and holds it up - not to stab me but just to let me know he is pissed off... and I calmed down but even tho he is family it could have gone another way but it didn't.... and I was pretty happy afterward as i got pretty loud out in the front yard.... yikes....this was a week after he burned out the clutch in my car as I let him drive it (mistake)....2 years of driving a thai Tank in the army....good gawd... but not a bad kid - just didn't listen after his 2 years in the army and it did piss me off when he basically stole the motorcike... but the keys were right on the table ... after I told him no - and he was drunk that night...

  13. would be nice to know when exactly the bank knew that the ATM machine was giving a shock along with people taking out money... hard to say how the mom knew it had shocked other people first...would think if dad or mum was touching the keys to take out money and they were shocked or not if anyway said anything or maybe the little girl did just touch the outside of the machine and the electricity was running into it down low and not not up on the keypad? ...but hope the 2 yr old girl recovers.... man...and of course SCB better pay for the full medical bills as it would seem to be their fault 100%...and if she does die then they better pay a lot more.... yes you have to be careful here as nothing is grounded unless you ground it yourself or get it done.... if I touch my usb jack or computer without sandals on I get a small shock... I did ground my hot water shower tho... some kid a year ago was electrocuted here in the shower in Phuket I think.. and the 2 falung kids at the pool a few months ago in the apartment building...a lot of them killed by no grounds and faulty wiring around hotel pools etc....

  14. Combofix does the job.... - just remember to restart your computer 2 times - once to reboot and then again to clear it... first time I used combofix after first restart nothing was working and I thought I really lost the computer... restarted the second time and voila....

    found it on

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/search/?keyword=combofix

had a wierd message box that wouldn't go away - tried Kapersky root kill, etc - but found them all on bleeping com... then did the Combofix and that really took the root kit to the cleaners and did the job.... just reboot 2 times when done...but regular cleaning with Malwarbytes and CCleaner helps when you get it back to ok....and am using Avast free antispyware...Spybot was good but didn't find stuff... lots of virus programs find some things but not the one you need... but Combofix should work.... I resaearched it all for a couple of days trying to get rid of my little problem....

  15. I got my first thai license my first year -14 years ago ... then thought I didn't need to renew it as I never got stopped... then going downtown one night on Viphawadee rd  - just in the up tollway ramp exit these 3 cops were there and one almost jumped out right in front of me... didn't hit him but of course he asks for the license...it was 2 yrs expired.... that got me a 1000 bt fine and i happened to have to bill on me...so now - 2 year licenses later no problem... you have to just get the one yr one first - then the five year one is  only 605 bt now I heard - was 505 bt 4 years ago... but NO license means NO insurance and then you are screwed with any minor fender bender or something worse...yah the big 50 questions test now - was 30... but yah gotta do it...or you will get hit with a big baht fine you can't pay... and that is if nobody gets seriously hurt... but you will paying cash to fix the other car...

even if not your fault but you have no insurance ... look out...have had 4 accidents basically in 40 yrs driving - 2 back in canada that were small and not my fault.. 2 here - small rear ender - my fault and one 360 degree spin around 3 times in the rain but never hit anything but a road side rail near Fashion Island Mall at 1 am ... smacked in the front of the pick up truck but didn't hit another car or anyone... feel very lucky now but had insurance both times...whoa...went and got a big hot coffee at the 7-11 and waited for the tow truck... you have to watch every direction here every second when you get behind the wheel here...

  16. was thinking that russian tourists AND many long time russian visa runners and other nationalities are all getting out of Dodge...but also low season - but anyone living in thailand now with the dreaded too many visa stamps is going to have to be doing some quick tap dancing to figure how to stay... and yes the big russian travel agency went broke and left some 20,000? russians high and dry? let s see how quiet thailand is by end of august, september, october etc on just real 0-90 day tourists...

  17. yah 10-15 thou a month is fine - been her 14 yrs - make 60thou baht a month take home - mortgage in wife's name is 10,000 a month with 10 yrs left and 600.000 bt on the house - bank wants to lend us money no prob as paid every month on time... give her 200 bt a day for food around the house - any more for other things that come and lots do... grandsons public thai school 4000 a semester, 1100 bt for the school van yesterday...1000 bt for a good friend to do anything around the house like electric wiring and stuff...she wants 1-2000 bt for something no problem... so yah 10 thou a month plus more for grandma and the rest of the family that looks after grandson...electric with one air con 2-2500 a month... that's it... just paid off a motorcike for daughter in law - 18 months at 3200 bt a month so yes it starts to add up but no prob to help out with grandson and DIL... so say 15-20 a month includes mortgage payment in Rangsit maybe a few extra thou here and there but that helps out like 10 people including me and extended thai family.... you want to pay 20-30-50 a month ? go ahead if you can afford it - always somebody coming up sick or police problem or needs 1000 bt to pay groceries... i only "loan" want I don't want paid back as it never happens... had a friend of the wife hi-so type that had a 600,000+ bt monk party - big hotshot in the rangsit gov out here... 1000+ people at the monk party for his 2 kids ...maybe they only go to the wat for 2 weeks.... anyway 2 weeks after he shows up and is asking for 2000 bt ...so yah hand it over .... that was 8 months ago - never heard a word back or one baht - but he only asked for 2000 bt - now if he did that to 200-300 other friends...sharp guy... didn't ask for too much he would have gotten the money to pay off the Big Show Monk Party... and the Monk Party deals - the thai that puts one on never gets the money back - so it surpriced me he only asked for 2000 bt - but now that I think about - was a good plan ....

anyway... give what you can to help.. but if you are or are not here with feet on the ground look out...."no free love here" either you pay or you don't play

up to you how you deal with your money.... been married 10 years now.... first 7 were great then the "bua falung" sets in ... have to "choose wisely" the first time as the Knight in Indie Jones said...so I end up with an awesome family and grandson and a wife that i hardly talk to now...not bad but not great...I take care of her and her family but have no relationship anymore... 5 5 5 who knows where the wind blows... so I just work and have fun and enjoy what I can....

  18. I just called the wine bar - talked to a thai girl who speaks english - she says he hasn't been there at the bar for 3 MONTHS....

so to his family in Ireland.. suggest you call the wine bar at 66-2-714-2223 - talk to the girl and then call the thai police and initiate a missing persons report ?

http://www.thailandguru.com/thailand-tourist-police.html all the numbers are here on the website...

or the brit/irish embassy i would think and get any proper channels going for Bangkok police missing persons.... eh?

  19. Certainly agree, never employee family and beware of them thinking they have the absolute right to make decisions on your part etc.

My Thai adult son has had a nightmare with this. His Thai wife is the nicest young lady you could wish to meet but her family are a nightmare.

My son has to get them together and make it very clear that 'this is the family house of the XXX family' also making it plain that they are welcome to stay overnight but no longer and they cannot touch anything in the house. Why?

    - Come home and discover they have moved the big TV to another place in the living room and it's balanced precariously on a coupe of old cardboard boxes with electric cords stretched across and ready to trip someone up.

    - Sister in law arrives from a bus about 7.50 am. Our maid arrives at 8.10 am. Sister in law (never seen the maid before) instantly starts abusing the maid for being late. Son intervenes and says maids agreed start time is 8.30 am. SIL then changes her abuse to lazy. She's never been to the house before. Son then tells SIL she is welcome but no more than one night and she cannot make any comment about anything to anybody when she's in the house. She now visits maybe once every 2 years, overnight only.

    - Other SIL comes to sons house. She disappears upstairs, son's wife goes upstairs and her sister is packing suitcases for sons two young kids. Son's wife asks asks 'why?'. Her sister then announces she's made all the plans to take the children to live with their grandmother. In reality this is exactly what my son and his wife don't want. Idiot SIL now claims it's Thai law. Son tells her to leave and to never ever make any plans for anything about his family.

    - Other SIL tells a guy from Bkk that he can park his double decker tour bus outside our house (upcountry). Bus turns up, nobody knows anything about this arrangement son and his wife would never agree. Bus man then says he's paid a fee to SIL. Son tells the bus man he must move the bus to another location immediately and refunds the fee the bus man has paid (150Baht). Son has to strongly tell this SIL to never ever make any plans about anything to do with his family.

My son and his wife are well aware that the outer relatives think they are rude and they don't appreciate the help that the outers try to arrange.

Unbelievable... well not really but ....thai law to take sons kids to live with Grandma?
