  1. oh and how did YS net worth go up 50 million baht last year anyway? and the $1 billion Thaksin was supposed to get back in October from his frozen bank account didn't work out as well did it? as part of the "Amnesty Scheme/Scam"... anyway - the poor rice farmers may do Suthep's work for him if MOnday is the deadline now...there really must be other financial ways to help farmers out here besides buying rice over global prices then not selling it... I read last week that corn prices in the usa went down 40% last year and wheat and soybeans down about 20% but the usa does have a farm insurance thing - but it is also been corrupted as well by non farmers...we will see come monday tho I guess

  2. well if the KTB bank has flip flopped back to saying ok for 4 BILLION dollars or 130 billion baht and they get some huge tax break - and hoping the government does pay them back it may be a good thing - but then Yingluck and PTP have some leverage - still doesn't fix the Suthep and election/reform problem - but it may hold off 1 million+ rice farmers who are the backbone of thailand's agri industry...but this 3-6 months of no payment goes before the Suthep protests in December...so did the gov not have enough or any money in December? or was it all going down right at the time YS called the election? but it sounds like the gov was not making any rice sales or trades to other countries or companies... also the Rice Scheme/Scam report is due out any day now...might be corruption AND total incompentency on the gov's part all around? too much moolah has dissappeared from the rice farmers "secure" payments?

everytime I hear Government Scheme here I change the word Scheme to Scam which is what 99% of the "schemes" are anyway... 5 5 5

  3. so no name or address of the condo? I hope that all the people living in that building know about the elevator ... talk of charging the landlord and engineer of the elevator is great - IF it actually gets fixed...maybe the granny's family can try to sue or get some money... and of course the grandaughter watching granny get chopped in half or squished.... the kid may never ride in an elevator again after this...

  4. yep - can you drive that thing on a road? I do not know a company but good luck - would think getting it upcountry in the container is the first plan - then assembly near the farm where it is going to be used or in a town close would be the plan... those are too wide I think for putting on a flat bed truck and trucking on roads... any roads... here or in the usa... not sure how they transport them in the states tho... wide load signs on the Peterbuilt or Kenworth

  5. When over half a budget is spent on a programme that has no solvency built in and guarantees an escalating debt, that delegates graft through the administering of it, that is masked in subterfuge, that has no public transparency, that is full of backroom deals, and on top of that, only administers 18 % to the poorest farmers - it is time to stop it, sell the rice at a loss, pay the farmers, and resign.

Scamper as usual - hit the nail right on the head... this is about the only way out - unless some UN body calls it dumping for some reason...this has the potential to either kill thailand on money or maybe get out of the scam and heaven forbid "loose face" but now no face left to loose at half the thailand budget money going to the "scheme/scam" and now it is WAY out of the closet 5 5 5 but yes try to sell it off cheap... maybe even donate a few hundred tons as "humanitarian" along with a big order.... or even give some away free to Africa... that will be the day right? I think normal years were 10 million tons exported.. now try to dump 18+Million tons on the global market for one big payday to pay the farmers off in how long? I think lots of countries have already spent their money buying rice for the next months but who knows...we are talking dumping 6-7 Billion $ of rice to get money back in a month or 3.... we will see... or keep sitting on 20-35 million tons and see how long it can take for it to go bad...5 year life and 10% gone a year and it's already been sitting for 1-2 years... somebody better come up with a plan - seems this guy is about right but does anyone in the actual PTB here have the gumption to really do it?

  6. Dude - can't let anyone walk into your house here and demand money.... i guess unless he has a gun in his hand... nor anywhere... better make sure your doors have good locks on them as this guy or buddy(ies) may be back asking for more....now that you gave them on the first go.. get pics, plate number of car etc...the last thing you want to do is beat up a thai unless you really have a fight for your life going on here.... Jeez - you gave some little thai mafia guy 3000 bt without getting a receipt 9just joking) ? better be careful now...if he didn't pull a knife or gun out then next time you better say "mai me satang" or me no have money and gradually help the guy out of your front yard and play dumb or whatever... if you go at it with a guy like this here - he will show up next time with 5 friends when you least expect it and you may not have a chance to fight back after you get boinked over the head first when you aren't looking you can alos file a police report right now at teh local chop shop which might not be a bad idea - they maybe won't catch him but it will be on record anyway... type of car, description, if you didn't get the plate number... might help in the future if he shows up again for a payment....and one more thing - constructive criticism.... - better get rid of the violent ("i should have beat his head into the ground") attitude here unless you really are in a fight to death not of your own making...better get rid of that quick as it will come back to haunt you if you can't control it...

as it looks real bad at a court case if a falung beats up a thai - even if a mafia type...you will looked at as maybe the one that started the thing.... then you can kiss living here goodbye

  7. aarrgghh I live out a couple miles away from this clover leaf at Future park...go by this spot every week once or twice.... glad it wasn't me squished under that container... and a few hundred vans out here in Rangsit - sad the guy was squashed but also could have been 12 people squashed as well...was wondering how the container actually worked it's way off the trailer - one guy said a twist lock but anyway - not sure how it just fell off ... will have to look it up and see...ouch tho - flat as a pancake almost......

  8. great comments - Scamper and Tatsujin - you guys are right on ... read what is not said etc...this has become a fairly Big Game Show now.. the "world" is watching... we have the dems not joining the election which is 11 days away... on my work road and home which i would usually see 10+ pickup trucks going up and down with PA blaring "Ber Nung or Ber sip ha" i only see the red's pick ups... ber 15 and 18 whatever... so as we close in on Feb 2 I would expect more violence to happen - what happened to 20,000 police and army checking these rally spots with gun shootings and grenades being thrown - 65+ people injured from the grenades? this is already 65 people too many...anyway - the army will have to be called out pretty soon methinks as the police are just not able to stop anything - if you are going to allow protests that basically shutdown a city the size of Bangkok then you have to have barricades and checkpoints all over each rally point... ok let people in to protest but they better all be going thru a metal detector to get in....oh well - nice to see freedom of protest - not nice to see lots of grenade shrapnel wounds...

so we will see how it goes but be careful... nobody really is in charge now except maybe the top police and military commanders so really it is up to them to figure out how to sort things out - and from past experience here it doesn't look all that promising - but hey - this is Thailand.. oh yah - and how to borrow 4 Billion dollars to pay the rice farmers now? 5 5 5 downtown BKK invaded by 50,000 rice farmers next week looking for 3-5 months payment... that 130 billion baht is a lot of cheese that Yingluck and associates didn't come up with... and the rice scam report is due here pretty quick... I heard selling the rice back and forth a few times to get that "extra kick" in from the gov... and it wasn't the rice farmers doing it... this should get interesting this week and next...

  9. good comments.. first off - does she even WANT to go to Oz....or is this a standard thai girl ploy to get a falung's money? I have been here 13 years - married to a thai but no kids - but i work and live here... she has a 22 yr old daughter and 15 year old son...obviously get a dna check done if you can afford to hop back here on a plane or whatever... if it IS yours, you can get the OZ citizenship PP and papers done after birth... a canuck friend did that for his kid... (then went back to canada and left the girl and the son - nice guy and he had lived here 10 years) so august to now is about 5 months... ask an oz doc how to check paternaty at 5 months and see how it is done - is cheaper to do all that here... and then back to does she even want to go to oz...?

you can get married here cheap - 2500 bt for an emabssy paper that says you are ok to be married (they didn't even look at my divorce papers at teh us emb whan i got it done) and 40bt at the Amphur for he thai 2 papers.. plus a trip to the immigration office to verify your embassy page - (translated to thai for 500 bt) but back to the whole bit... does she have a job? does she want to move away from family? how many boyfriends are on the hook already? the thai "brother" could be a boyfriend... basically as one poster said "don't believe anything" and if you are not living here now then are at a big disadvantage...good thai hospital delivery is 20-30K bt yes...so until you can figure out if the child its yours you may be paying out "money for nothing" so get ready for that... if you love her - does she love you? she can also easily abort as well but of course that costs more every month of pregnancy here... but i saw one home remidy used and also a late term 8 month or so one paid for by a family for about 30,000 bt...so welcome to thailand and getting a girl pregnant problems...be careful on payments as there may be the "you owe us money" for getting our daughter pregnant and not married... they may want a big dowry paid also which you have to beware of...even thai's to thai''s will use this one... and with a falung - will the sky maybe the limit unless you know how to hold your ground or the figure throw out is just too astronomical to even consider...

also your comment "she knew in december" isn't quite true then is it if she missed 3 periods or something along that train of thought... anyway - nothing wrong with helping out a thai girl you had sex with but be careful, cautious AND skeptical until you know the whole story about her...I have been helping out my thai family for the 10 years i have been married and I generally enjoy helping them.... I have a 4 yr old grandson that loves his falung "grandpa" and also now have a 3 month grandaughter thanks to the wife's daughter and 14 yr old nephew and sisters and brothers and thai mum and dad... but"i can only give what I do not want paid back" and that is the deal here... beacuse nothing you give will get paid back is a rule of thumb... so yes if it is your kid - do what you need to do... but just make sure she is not stringing you on as well... she may not even want to move to oz.... and since you are not living and working or able to to live here on your own money then things can get sideways real quick...keep the money small if you send and i guess make sure yoy can skype and email her and actually get answers and see how it goes.... good luck

  10. As the role of the police has now taken on a very stark turn towards a distinctly totalitarian tone, this administration has indeed become truly dangerous. The police should have the key role in protecting the people and protecting the truth, but they are zealously dedicated to neither. That is a very, very dangerous situation. Because there is truly nothing now that separates the people from vigilante attacks and mini-armies, particularly when the administration is doing all they can to suggest that they do not exist. And that's anarchy. Anarchy is when an administration abdicates its responsibility to protect the lives of their own people. This administration - by their actions and by their inactions - have betrayed that trust, and are not invested in the protection of the people - or their right to protest - or their right to criticize this administration. Each day we are seeing atrocities enacted against the Thai people. Peaceful civil disobedience is the only option they have left to be heard. They must also now believe, unfortunately, that their voices can overtake the sound of a grenade, and overtake the actions of wanton, unspeakable cruelty.

Scamper - well said... and I thought I read that 20,000 cops and army would be helping "police" this extravaganza? now with 64+ injured in 3 days from hand grenades...I agree with the right to protest as it is a lot more than just the Feb 2 "election" call...it was the amnesty bill, and the bill #190 that would have let the PM sign international treaties without running it thru Parliment (kind of like the exectutive orders in the usa... ) and BTW it sounds like May 16 in the usa is going to be a smae protest as what is happening here... will have to wait and see how the usa cops in wash DC deal with a whole lotta unhappy people... but that is kinda off topic... anyway - 2 weeks till Feb 2 and is only going to get worse here..be safe and I hope some of the grenade attack victims do survive...

  11. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RGD-5

same flat spoon as in a couple of pics - only $5 usd if you know where to buy one... even bt700 as someone says for a chinese one is still pretty cheap... amazing nobody was killed outright today or even a bunch of poeple... but some critical - same as friday's grenade i think... watchout around the protesters - it's only going to get worse before Feb 2... and people are bringing their kids? and if 6 motorcikes took off today after this and shooting and nobody was able to knock over a motorcike (personally I would have trouble if the guy had a gun) but with all those people around and they got away clean... oh yah - where are the 20,000 cops and army guys that are supposed to be watching this mess anyway? didn't read anything about a chasedown in the english websites... come on...can't even chase some motorcikes that just lobbed 2 greanades into a crowd?

  12. The anti-democracy protesters and their apologists are prone to saying that 'democracy doesn't work in Thailand'. Lets see now, in 81 years of democracy they've had 18 coups, almost one every four years. Well, it's hard for democracy to take root when you have military jackboots stomping all over the shoots every four years. I suggest they try the next eighty years without any more coups and let's see how Thai democracy looks then.

Yes - but sometimes a military coup is needed...depending... even the framers of the usa constitution realized if the government isn't doing the job they need to be replaced... almost like what needs to happen in the usa to get rid of the military ind. complex and FED etc that have taken over... at least Thailand hasn't reverted to a tribal state like in africa where mass killings of the other tribe happen = or the mid east where which faction of the same religion you are will get you killed - or not belonging to the same religion...but complex problem here yes..on the surface I thought great - new vote feb 2, but YS will get reelected as they seem to have the votes... but TS is pulling the strings still... but a 6-12-18 months people's council from Suthep doesn't cut it either so deadlocked - but shutting down bkk and the vote is not cool either ...anyway - I am just an observer falung trying to get by here 5 5 5

  13. wow good story...another falung gets taken... so you are here for 6 weeks then and going back home? I came over here 13 yearts to work for a thai company in my professional trade... hydraulic seals and gaskets.. yes took a big pay hit the first few years but now am paying off a house in a thai persons name... would rather it was in my boss's name but... I paid no dowry and my wife's family is pretty poor out here in Rangsit - but her sisters and brother hold full time jobs...didn't get asked for a dowry as well - altho I did get hit up for the big 300+ person wedding dinner and party which cost 150,000 (and that was bad as I was told 60-80,000 - then 3 months later I learned that some money still had to be paid back to the money lender...like another 70,000 5 5 5 so that was really the only time I got sideswiped) so that was 10 years ago...still have the thai job and the company does well with local biz and export of hydraulic seals and gaskets - but i have worked here the whole time with the same thai family company...so I help them all out as I can - mom, dad, sisters, the wife's daughter has 2 kids - 4 yr old boy and now 3 month daughter and the the kid calls me grandpa and we hang out and do stuff - go to the mall, play some football etc... wouldn't trade it for any money... and I knew a UK guy that never watched his bank book and his wife basically disappeared 2.5 million baht in 3-4 years and left him totally broke...I did the joint account thing for one year only until a couple of shopping trips took 5-8,000 out then I said ok stop... no joint account - but if you get married here - it's only 40 bt at the Ampur office for the thai paper and you really don't need to spend a lot of money if you find the right girl... but that is the hard part.. yes I have had the ups and down with the wife and hindsight well it's 20-20 and maybe should have waited a bit longer and found another but no real regrets - just the communication and culture diffs... but I certainly do not mind helping out the extended family here and there - I only give what I can afford to not get paid back... but welcome to Thailand - hard to get married here if you are not living here tho..anyway - better stop now - too many falung stories with the guys I know here - some bad some not so bad...

  14. yep January is going to be a fun month around bkk... and the reds were lookng ok in the international media as it "looks" like democracy anyway with calling the vote (which I suppose it is)...but the dems just cannot get the votes (and don't seem to know how to get that farm/poor/out of bangkok vote) going to beat YS and friends after all the populist vote getting schemes... rice, cars, tablets for every schoolkid, etc...and the people's council thing for 6 months to reform what? still doesn't matter as whoever gets a majority vote can still start the vote getting scheme giveaway money anyway... it's just YS and TS do it better than the dems... same as in the usa with OB and the dems.... they give 20 million illegals from mexico citizenship and the repugs will never get a pres elected for 20+ years by normal votes...it gets down to who BS's the sheeple better...well strap yourselves in for a fun month this month

  15. the picture only shows one suitcase... with Monk stuff...soo... if the lady gave him a suitcase to carry why does it have all the monk stuff in it as well? unless there is a second suitcase it would like like he put the drugs in his suitcase or someone did and of course if he is that naive to not check and see what he was given to carry...isn't the "someone gave me a package to deliver to someone and I didn't know what it was" one of the most used excuses from smugglers? hmmm - but he sure looks like an innocent 64 yr old monk tho... wow... great casting job on this drug run...excellent try anyway...ouch do we have a Monk Jail here yet? seems like there should be after the story earlier about the hi-so monk that went to the states after stealing? millions of baht and all the luxury cars etc...maybe need a Jail Wat? 5 5 5

  16. as Will Ta says... the new movie Riddick and also Indiana Jones in the Crys skull... " it's the small ones you have to worry about about"... but yes painful but maybe not lethal... the big centipide ones i hear are nasty with the dark red back...also soi dogs... got bit by one a few years ago and thought no sweat... but the next day my ankle swoll up pretty good...basically anything with 0-2-3-4-6-8 legs here be careful it doesn't bite you 5 5 5
