  1. kudos to 54321 for being aware - any cop here can stop you and look for something to get some tea money/shakedown money - esp. since Songkran is next week... I have been here 14 years out in Rangsit... was shook down in 2002 on news year eve in a cab downtown... looking for exctasy or drugs - went thru my bag but no drugs... and 5 minutes later away we go... HOWEVER - lots of snitches around that owe the cops or need favors to stay out of jail - my thai wife's brother had a local snitch set the cops up and they stuffed 5 yaba pills down his pocket out here in Rangsit... the cops have a monthly quota of arrests they have to make and yes some will do it illegally...they also stopped my wife one day when she was walking with hersister at Rangsit market and they told her she "looked too thin so she must be on yaba" - didn't bother her sister but they went all thru her bag and they took her mobile phone... she never got it back...yes lots of laws here to protect people - but lots of crooked cops as well... looks like with all the protests they maybe haven't been getting enough shakedown money.. and it all gets passed back up the ladder...and posters giving the guy a hard time for taking a damn bus? <deleted>...even if the cops want to stop you for a little shakedown cash money you better be aware and careful... and with Songkran next week this week might be the "get some fun money for Songkran" week downtown...oh yah one more story - 5-6 women at klong one in rangsit playing some card game for 10 baht hands and this same snitch called the cops out - 10 cops showed up at the house like 5000 bt cash to stay out of jail for a night and all but one of the ladies paid the fine... the rest spent a night in the local jail... this was for a small no money card game... so beware if you get a crooked dick out there... 5 5 5 be nice and have all your papers.... but i am surprised that they let 54321 film inside on his phone...

all for now from the burbs... have a good Songkran and stay out of the bad cops way here...

  2. blowing a whistle at the PM isn't quite the same as getting your car smashed up and shot at and beat on and having a gun put to your head...even if she did have her 15 minutes of fame...the 12 smiles of Thailand... let's see what happens today in bkk with the "big 500,000 person" red shirt pow wow... at least it looks like they are staying way out to the west of town and may not be looking for trouble...maybe some tho... I am just waiting now to see if Badluck gets charged or impeached as this deadlock is not going anywhere good or anywhere fast. IMHO the army is going to have to step in and play referee to get both sides to agree on a reform package and THEN call another election... let's see how much more violence and death is caused while all this takes place over how long? couple or three months? or the rice farmers just say WTH and take over and kick out the PTP before they starve and go broke while waiting for the 4 Billion dollar payout that doesn't seem to be coming anytime soon.

  3. very sad - yes that is a lot of chocolate to bring in for "friends" ...and getting a tip as well...I wonder how tight security is at the evidence locker? And yes - don't hear anything about the Big Boss getting arrested here in TL.... just the smugglers and the drivers transporting - "don't know who gave it to me and don't know who I am supposed to deliver it to" seems to be the main answers... oh well...

  4. well the red shirts are starting to talk tough but this is Chang Mai for crying out loud...ptt, berr co? and and a restaurant? ... anyway - with the court ruling the election void and no end in sight for reform or election things will get dicey now.. nobody in charge... I think the military will have/must to step in and call it a day for Suthep and Badluck... no real other way to run this country now... call for reform by the military - at least they don't take 30% off the top on deals? but they can restart the government... say a military coup but now that isn't even the case as there is NO GOV... 5 5 5 somebody please step in on this... won't say no more but the Big Guy or Army could help...otherwise we are looking at a few months of more chaos and nobody in charge... also we have the farmers that haven't gotten paid yet...maybe some poor farmer will take over the gov? could do a better job than Badluck methinks... but hey let's not give all the countries money away for vote getting this time? have to shut down the paid higher price for rice scheme/scam anyway as it has to stop... oh well - thai time... have to wait but I would think that the military COULD pull Suthep and Badluck intothe saem room for a week of negotiations and iron out a reform package and call for a vote in say 2 month? 5 5 5 ok me just dumb falung... me know nothing...

  5. hey it happens in every country... but... losing face and losing GF...so much for being a 90 % ? Buddhist country.... Jesus said don't kill - Buddha said don't kill anything...both would be pretty peeved off if they showed up here again for a reunion tour... but methinks they are onwards and upwards to other flocks... will come back one day to check on this flock tho....we might not like what they have to say

  6. I have a 5 yr old thai "grandson" Salmon is his nickname as in the fish... and if I heard of this happening to him at the thai public school he goes to well look out Mr. Teacher....6 marks means 3 tazer shots...this teacher better be put away and never allowed to teach/daycare any kids...accidental? my white falung a**... am surprised he hasn't been strung up from the nearest tree by the thai families that have kids going to the same school... nuff said... say no mo

  7. is any house here in Thailand actually grounded? ok ok I don;t know all the tech details of above posters but...i read all you need is a 6 ft deep copper wire to ground a house electric power out - but seriously - is any thai electrian EVER grounded a house?

i do always wear sandals when in my place - i hate getting the voltage rush when plugging something into my computer 5 5 5

  8. i agree with Fat Haggis .. if the shots came from INSIDE the park well guess what... having a couple of Lao Kao's and beer at 1 am and 3 am and "let me show you how this gun works" might have prompted a display of dazzling gun fire

I was in a guys house in Corpus Christe Texas in 1982... 2 pm in the afternoon... just talking with the family and the disabled vietnam war vet who owned the place decides to fire off his pistol thru the kitchen screen door and hits the house across the street...just one shot...just to show everyone how tough he was... the cops show up and the excuse the cops walked away with was

"oh a firecracker must have been set off" ...I couldn't believe it back then even... but hey that was back in 1982... wouldn't happen that way now in the us of a ... I think the guy hit the yard or the grass at the house across the street but holy cow batman .. my ears were ringing for an hour after... and the cops took the story about the firecracker ! ! ! amazing...small hole in the screen door the cops didn't see... 5 5 5

  9. even over $1000 usd in regular biz stuff for me sometimes causes problems at customs as they check close if over 1000 usd... and especially if done on a private person shipment... - but yes be prepared to pay 20-30% duty as over 1000 usd and you are not an official importer....hopefully it is worth it and you couldn't buy the amp and speakers here cheaper or ? must be a good system for this money

  10. 20 billion quick cash flash for PR but owe the farmer's right NOW 130 billion (over 4 BILLION usd).... then 8-9 months to HOPE to sell 80 billion at 800,000 tons a month... hoohaa... hope the red and yellow farmers can wait a few more 8 or 9+ months to pay of the bills they owe now... sounds like the farmers maybe back in Bangkok sooner rather than later...and a new rice crop is coming online...well let's see - still don't have a government running this country or a new election date or a reform debate date...hmmm...mai pen rai... let's see how long the farmers can actually hold out with these fake promises by Badluck and friends...imagine going 3-6 months without getting paid? I read the Dems did vote for keeping the scheme/scam going mid last year - but it seems that old Badluck forgot to make sure the 130 billion baht was paid out before she dissolved the gov... hmmm... plus the gov really wasn't trying hard last year to sell rice as they must have been using regular government funds to pay them... thailand has been averaging say 10 million tons per year export for years .. but only sold 7 million or so last year... must have been nobody wanted to sell any more rice at losing money prices... as every ton sold now - if they want to try 800,000 tons per month - which also may be a pipe dream in the next 8-9 months is losing like $150 usd per TON against the global rate... I can't do the math in my head but hang on let me grab a krung kit lek...ok 8 months at 800,000 tons per month = 6.4 million tons at say average of $150 per ton lost - paid to farmers vs going global rates for paddy and fragrant rice = $960,000,000.00 million dollars out of taxpayer money in thailand gone... yikes...but about right - 700 billion baht in 2 years on the rice scam is about 1.1 billion dollars per year that has been paid out.... is this right? Holy Cow Batman...where is the group that was going to open the rice scam books anyway? oops

  11. the guy padlocked his room door from the outside but oops... left a phone in the room... nice move...possible? drug problem from previous and a little jealousy and bang ..abduct the 14 yr old gf for talking to other boys or posting on facebook... yikes... oh well at least they caught him before anything worse was done...yes the 14 yr old thai girls sure love that older boyfriend deal...and vice versa as well - but it happens everywhere

  12. you can get killed here for 50,500,5000,50,000, or 500,000 or 5 million bt... in my moobahn a kid was killed 2 years ago for 1000 bt - noodle vender 15 yr old... the soi 50 guy in a taxi for 52bt... Gawd...

take your pick and be careful who you show money to.. been here 13 years and no problem this way but sad to hear some older falung gets killed over the nights bar cash...

    say no mo

    amen

  13. IMHO - been here 13 years - have a day job and not a teacher...ahem...I think it will be a military take over soon enough... ala 2006.. you have too much S*** going on for an election or whatever to change anything... maybe the article about the grenade attack on sunday in bkk and the Trat attack will be enopugh for the army to have to step in... polus YS meeting on thursday about the rice scam and corruption there.... 700 Billion baht gone to who? the farmers? yah except the 3040% corruption rule of thumb here... any government deal involves say 30-40% of money under the table... so yes farmers have gotten paid but... the gov could have done some juggling BEFORE dissolving parliment and paid the 1 million farmers that voted for Badluck.. plus all the other schemes/scams.... the new car deal hasn't been talked about much lately but that is also a 3 Billion+ $ government handout with 1.2 million new cars... so if the gov didn't have any money BEFORE Suthep started the protests they sure as heck can't do much this week to pay all the farmers off...before YS date with the NACC meeting... anyway we will all see... but totally at an impass on all sides so the only logical? thing is for the military to step in peacefully and have a 3 month or so reform and run the country until some reason can be brought to an election... yes a bunch of politico's should be told they can't run in a next election just to clear the decks of some of the dead wood...but seriously the military would probably run the country better than YS AND Suthep and without a lot of the BS vote getting country bankrupting schemes that YS and TS have been using for years.... again we can only wait and see - hopefully before anymore kids and people are killed and wounded by radical grenade throwing and gun firing crazies keep hitting on the protest sites...

  14. Every time I see his picture it makes me think someone that ugly shouldn't be allowed out in public.

Meanwhile, Mr Surapong discouraged protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban from leading protesters to seize business buildings for it would further jeopardise investors’ confidence and foreign investment in Thailand.

Particularly the Shin businesses for I have a lot of shares in the family business and stand to lose a lot of money.

Robby nz .. amybe you ought to think about DIVESTING some of your Shin family shares pretty quick so you don't lose TOO much Moolah? hmmm?
