  1. nice smack up - little slippery out there on that road in the rain eh? am pretty sure the Lambo is capable of some pretty hi speed accident protection for hitting a couple of poles after stepping on the gas and doing a 360 or whatever this guy did...never driven one but I have had the pleasure of doing a 360 in the rain one night here...

"amulet saved my life"... what a crock...one of our pick up truck drivers had a left front tire blow out on the chonburi hwy a few years ago.... did 2 360's - bounced off 4 cars, hit a noodle stand, house - finally came to rest in a cement pole.... then the engine caught on fire and he had to climb out thru the window....burnt the whole engine and the inside of the cab .... nobody hurt during this whole scene..... and he swore an amulet he wore saved him.... i kinda went with THAT story... have pictures of the old Nissan M pick up .... looked a lot worse than this lambo 5 5 5

  2. the Chinese are hacking to get info and plans and everything else so they can build their own stealth planes cheaper.... they already have one in the works with stolen or hacked info now....why pay for anything important when you can hack into 100 companies and get the info for basically free?

  3. I thought overstay was just a 20,000b max fine.

20 thou baht only if you tell them first or are at the airport out of the country...AND have the money... if you get ratted out and do not have the 20 thou - it's deportation...if american - they check and see if any friends or family can pay the plane ticket, if not you have to pay it back before they issue you a new passport... and they got a big weed bust here I see... all of a couple of joints? no money - then it's fly time....

  4. I did my WP pics in january... need 6-8 pics now one outside the building with the name and sign... a few inside - like at your work desk... couple of pics with other employees...i am the only falung so I guess they want to see 4 different people - but we just took some pics of me talking with 2-3 different people...would expect they want the same for a new company.. plus the x4 thai's for one falung - but better have your WP person check...I didn't know if you own campny and with thai wife you only need x2 thai's employed.

  5. My wife has asked before 'Do you want a mia noi, I would be ok with it if you did.'.

Yeah, yeah....I've been married long enough to recognise a trick question when I hear it.

good one... yes the "trick question" for sure if falung or thai male... yes double the money, double the headache for me.... one thai wife of 9 years is more than enuff headache... met an old taxi driver in Rangsit a few years ago driving an old beat up taxi told me he had 5 wives and wondered how many I had.... I said one is more than enough...how could he afford it??? amazing thailandI can see if you happen to have extra money to help out a mia noi but...I like waking up with the family jewels everyday and don't need the catfights between 2 thai women vying over the money... which is just enough for one... 5 5 5

  6. if murder... sounds like german names... CSI Thailand... amazingly they found a bank book with 2 names that might possibly lead to a suspect.... 75 yr old dead man and 84 yr old man with a log book for a new pick up? you have to have a log book only with a new bought vehicle... unless it was just an oil change log book... buy a new vehicle with new plates and you are supposed to keep the log book in the glove box until you get the white plate...and WHO carries around their actual bank book unless you are going to the bank.... let's see how Sherlock Holmes in the Pattaya PD works on this ... sorry to hear this guy died...a little bit of forensics would tell which injuries happened before or after he was thrown off the back of his buddy's new truck....or maybe run over after yes...where is CSI thailand anyway? doesn't seem to be much of it going on with all the falungs AND thai's being killed...(gun murders are x2 here vs. the usa now and the usa has x5 the population....20,000 vs 9,000 last year I think) who is the CSI lady that was famous a few years ago? who is getting all the forensics done anyway?

should be lots of thai's available from university to do all the background work on all these cases.... like the 2 Quebec girls in Samui that were poisoned last year... and Thailand wants Unlimited Tourists coming here to spend money? chances are you might just have a life ending "accident" here ... and guess what... NOBODY cares if you are a tourist....they do what the can... but gee whiz...tourists and long term stayers... "you take your picks and you get your chances"

and did he update his bank book? how much is gone out of the account on the night he died...if it was his bank book... sounds like somebody screwed up big time by leaving a bank book and vehicle log book at the scene 70+ years old or not...murder is still murder... falungs or thai... in Thailand...

I better stop now before I get in trouble....

  7. and the old trick from one of the bronx DeNiro movies test:

open the door for your woman and let her get in the car - close her door.... slowly walk around the car to your side and see if she unlocks the door for you before you have to put the key in the door.... now THAT is the test to see if she really loves you or not....was great forget which movie A Bronx tale maybe?? anyway back to topic...1.2 million cars maybe up to 2 million I heard....wait till the payments have to be made..and gas paid for ... oh and the 2 year drive to the malls now on saturday cause there is 800,000+/- more cars on bangkok streets 5 5 5 I live and work out in Rangsit area and the volume of traffic is way up some days....and the t
TV article today that the gov is out of rebate money....also a thai friend told me if the car gets stolen in 5 years you have to pay BACK the 100,000 bt.....anyway - any people that have money certainly come out ok... son or daughter gets a new car.... just wait till the payments start kicking in.... there are tons of vehicles already sitting second hand out in the burb's car lots that are low miles and the owner just couldn't pay the monthly payments...will be a lot more by the end of the year with the rebate scam....ar ar ar how to bankrupt a country and still get re-elected should be Badluck's motto....

I don't understand why people are beating on this guy. In Canada assets are split equally when a marriage ends, it is understood that both partners contributed to the accumulated wealth. In Thailand your wife gets it all, nothing wrong with having something in your name. I love my wife, we have been together for 7 years, I hope we're together for many more, but when I buy a new car it's going in my name. I have a lease on our home to protect me, she owns the house, 2 parcels of land and our current vehicle. When a woman, Thai or not, objects to you having something of your own, you have a problem. I think a good test is is to suggest that instead of buying a house in her name, that you buy a condo in your name and tell her to trust that you will leave it to her in the event of your demise, see how much she trusts you.

  8. nice little dent in the 2 doors... hard to believe a pin was pulled and just a nade just sitting in a bag with a pin held down..... maybe a mobile phone detonator so someone was close enough to see the guy... they are using these in the south... even these little egg nade's the thai's have used - are being homemade by some people.... must be able to buy from someone...must be a money thing - either ex GF or new GF or anything involving money and not just a couple of baht ...maybe a business thing...a few years ago 2 security companies had homemade bombs going off at each other over a Tesko contract out in Min Buri.... hardly seems likely over a parking space...

"Wanchai's new girlfriend said the couple noticed a plastic bag near a rear wheel of their pickup while they were preparing to leave the housing estate for work. The bag appeared to contain something, which was later thought to be a hand grenade."

the bag was just "near a rear wheel" so if a homemade deal who knows what was being held down before it went off.... good little blast tho...

only said over 300 years by Congreve " Hell hath no fury like a Thai woman scorned" was the correct paraphrase 5 5 5

    or

    http://www.murphys-laws.com/murphy/murphy-true.html

the real Murphy's Law here is "if anything can go wrong, it will... in Thailand"

especially when you are going to work in the morning and happen to pick up a plastic bag near your car.... which I will remember NOT to do in the future

  9. all those speed boats come in pretty close to beachfront... even parked right off the sand... even swimming 50 yards off the beach can be dangerous... in this case fatal...all the banana float boats fly right by about 50-100 yards off the beach...I have been there...decided NOT to go for a long swim out off the beach to show how good a swimmer I am after I saw the boats flying by... you would have NO chance to get out of the way..very sad but what can you say? the boat "captains" out there on Jomtien beach... it really is the job of the boat captain to check the water as well ...driving or starting the boat...have to watch for swimmers yes? obviously she may have been too far out off the beach... so much for safety from the thai boat driver...or do we blame the swimmer? mai pen rai here Murphy's Law... I am beginning to think after 12 years in thailand that Murphy was maybe part thai...

Wanda Horst- Sikorska, one of Poland’s most eminent Professors of Medicine was struck by a boat propeller and has died from her injuries in Jontien .

  10. homemade thai "zip" gun - pencil shooter for a .22 cal bullet I saw a few years ago... slide it back and the spring shoots the metal into the bullet- about 5 parts to the whole thing and the size of a thin magic marker... like a CD marker

am trying to figure out how to upload the picture....but of course this guy could have had a bigger homemade gun

Firstly RIP Stephen Ashton, a tragic loss of life.

In time perhaps the full story will come out, call me pessimistic but I won't hold my breath on that.

For now, who knows what happened.. but there appears to be no suggestion that Stephen was targeted, it's entirely possible/likely that he really was the victim of a stray bullet. The chances of being hit by one in Thailand seem to be rare, but not unknown.

I have no idea what a "home made gun" looks like or how it works, assuming it shoots regular bullets Its seems highly unlikely that it's home made, perhaps home modified in the way that a sawn-off is home made.

I have no idea why a comment by rfukata says he (the killer) has no remorse in his face... I bet the guy is pretty scared and even if not remorseful he must by now appreciate the gravity of the situation. Perhaps he is genuinely only guilty of manslaughter in law (though in my opinion ANYONE who fires a gun should be guilty of murder if someone is killed), but given the international interest in this case, and the need for a public show of justice, he is sure to get a long sentence.

  11. very cool... but the USA and Israel will maybe have issues with Thailand now....(not towing the new world order platform and denying PALS the rights they are not getting from Israel) .....and also the not letting the USA use U Tapo airport for the "weather NASA recog" planes. Which may have been innocent weather stuff but may also have not been.... sad to say but the USA is losing it's respectability around the planet ... by the day.. drone attacks - saying that any 16 year killed in Afgan or Pak was a terrorist anyway... and I happen to be a Yank...oops ... say HI to the guys ..they are watching and listening to everything..... the war on terror is here now and coming to everywhere people still want to have peace and freedom.... like Thailand

  12. If Lady Gag Me is out shopping for fake Rolex watches on sunday on Sukumvit she might just stop by Check Inn 99 for a listen.... other than that - it will be a great show... come on down and have a listen and support the local blues - Keith Nolan and Love Gone Wrong and rock boys - Wildside...no cover charge and garunteed good tunes...

  13. after reading Stickman's article today on Mama Noi at CI99 I was amazed ... and personally knowing and have heard both both bands playing this sunday May 27 I would have to say that it will be a "mini" 2 set each concert that shouldn't be missed....Keith Nolan and his Love Gone Wrong blues band with his original and old blues classics done up right - best blues band in Thailand if not the whole region but local here in Bangkok and Wildside with classic rock covers from the 70-80's and a couple of newer years ....Wildside has been at the Imperial Queens park hotel in the Sundowners Lounge since January every thursday, friday and saturday nights..... Wildside to start the first 2 sets at 8 pm then Love Gone Wrong after 10... should be an awesome night of music at Check Inn 99 this sunday......no cover charge for the chance to hear 2 of the best falung bands playing in Bangkok. Chris and CI 99 have brought to the bar a great night of music - don't miss out.....

  14. pretty good band at the Sundowner Lounge in the Imperial Queen's Park Hotel - about 200+ yards in on Soi 22 of sukumvit - main floor just thru the lobby on the right.... not a lot of people watching except hotel guests walking thru the lobby.... but the band is Wildside... playing old classic rock stuff and pretty decent sound - all falung band... totally wife bringing friendly... one of the surprises of music around town as the hotel hasn't had a band in there for years so not everyone knows about it yet...

What a GREAT day! My first one and completely unexpected.....had a brilliant time.

I have to say the quality of the entertainment was top notch. Soi Dogs are as fine a blues band as you will find and the rock band after them were fantastic as both entertainers and musicians. Didn't catch their name though, maybe I wasn't listening or trying to get another beer. The announcer said Soi Dogs play at Tokyo Joes but didnt tell us where we could see the rock band...anyone know who they were and if they play anywhere?

Both bands many notches above the typical crap bar bands you find in Bangkok and I would LOVE to go out and hear more decent music.........my crappy Stratocaster bedroom playing doesnt compare

  18. well after all we finally start at the Imperial Queen's park hotel (soi 22 about 300 yds in from Sukumvit... tonight Dec 29 in the Sundowner Lounge..... tonite, friday 7:30 till 11:30 in the Lounge and New Year's eve on one of the rooftop New Year's party's..... 8-11 pm... and sounds like we will be on the roof in January from what I hear...first night tonite .... hope to get some people sticking their heads in the Lounge anyway .....we are supposed to be on every thurs, fri ,saturday in the coming months and also Chris Sweeny and Jerry Byrd are playing monday to wensday in the lobby and the lounge with some quieter blues and Jazz - Chris on drums and Jerry Byrd on guitar with a bass player..... for a nice mix of Jazz and Blues from the 2 pro's ....no vocals - just instrumental...

Steve, do you mean Imperial Queens Park?

That's excellent news Steve. I have been hoping to find a club that had a regular schedule featuring a good classic rock band.

I was a regular at Jeff Healy's club in Toronto almost every Thursday night until he passed. I'll be out front Dec. 9th :partytime2:
