  1. If you look at this page: http://www.jsat.tv/packs-thai.html then the basic package is around 9500 THB. (This would be a one time fee only)

It would involve installing a Sat Dish

However when I installed the same system up-county it was in total around 3000 THB (I am not 100% sure about the company name (maybe another member can confirm) which I used, was PSI)

    Edit: //

    Found a link: http://www.psi.co.th/

and also one on TV: http://www.thaivisa....r-mom-and-pops/

Brilliant. Thanks a lot for that link to the TV post. Very helpful.

  2. I had this problem with a battery getting run down due to a live running to earth somewhere. Charged the battery with a charger I brought with me to Thailand. Battery showed full charge and refused to turn the engine. New bigger battery on the car now and it is a lot better.

The starter might simply be a quick fix if your carbon bushes are worn / sticking. I drove to Cha-Am. Stopped to fill up and car refused to turn over. Had a place check the battery and I saw it had almost full charge yet they told me it was fooxed. I got a jump from another car and the combined power turned the engine over.

In Cha-Am I got a reliable mechanic to check the car and it was the carbon bushes in the starter. 400 Baht to fix. No problems in the year since he did that.

  3. I am set downstairs with a dreambox and satellite but I want to set up a television in the bedroom for the g/f to be able to watch Thai TV. Say Channels 3,5,7. Or something a bit more diverse while I am watching football and other English language TV.

An indoor aerial does not work. I have no cable TV either.

I have been offered a one off set up for 6000 Baht with no further payments to get FTA television. The man making the offer refused to say what was involved. Maybe he did not want me checking out similar systems at lower prices.

Can I simply go and buy a set-top box here and do I need to link it to an external aerial?

What are my options? And any idea of costs involved?

    TIA.

In my humble opinion this looks bad and a little confusing when searching for ads. To reach the ads themselves you have to scroll right down the page to see them.

There seems to be no way to shrink / collapse the listing on the left hand side.

Okay, this might be a small problem in the vast scheme of things but it is frustrating to have to scroll past the listings on the left hand side before you get to the adverts.

Can this be changed at all or am I being picky?

Not used them for bike insurance but for car a few times, good service and prices, at least one in the office has very good English.

Her name is Da. Think they were or maybe even still are forum sponsors.

Their office is in the Soi to the side of Big C South Pattaya.

    Thanks for that information :)

  6. I will need some insurance soon for a 2 year old Fino I am buying and I am looking for guidance as to where to go to get a policy here in Pattaya.

I will need full insurance for myself and any passenger, theft, fire etc.

I would prefer someone who can speak English so there are no mix ups regarding the policy.

Additionally any ideas on the cost of insurance?

    Thanks for any useful input.

  7. First Thai woman I met was online before I came here. met her in BKK and she slept with me 1st night.

Next met in a restaurant - 2nd night.

3rd slept 2nd night and she picked me up.

And so on. Yet all would say they are not promiscuous and do not sleep around. Not a bar girl amongst them either. Their intention was to get their man and keep him. None were one night stands as such. We spent months and in one case years together.

Only one refused to sleep with me unless I married her.

So, are they promiscuous? Not in the sense of sleeping around but they will sleep with you if they think it will mean they get to stay with you and most are hoping for longer term commitment in the main.

  8. i don't know if i'm just unlucky, but i have soo many drives fail that i purchase here in thailand. minorly off topic, but do they sell lower quality hardware here than what's exported? just seems strange, drives are manufactured here, but still cost more than it does in the usa (even before the flooding, about 20% more), plus, it seems to be less reliable (about 30% of my drives fail due to bad sectors or failing SMART)

Distribution drives are the same everywhere. No reason for drives here to be of a lower quality. Unless you're comparing distribution drives against sold to the OEM, then yes there is a difference in performance.

I often wonder if the higher failure rate is down to temperature and humidity. I have had more hard drive and component failures here than back home in a comparative period.

  9. By law, 50% of the beach is to be left open for....get this.... tourists.

Unfortunately, greedy city officials that treat the beach as their private property, rent it to private businesses, leaving only a small patch here and there for the.... tourists.

Tourists, that want to enjoy the beach are jammed together.

I dont understand the constant comments and criticism of what goes on in Thailand from ignorant foreigners who think they all have it sorted out and want to change the place I quote: "for the better"

    For the better of who??

it keeps going on and on and on Traffic, Woman and now even the way the beaches are organized????

Well you can always go back to your own beautiful organized beaches back in the UK some nice examples for you here

    SWANAGE BEACH

    swanage.jpg

    OR BOURNEMOUTH BEACH MAYBE?

    swanage.jpg

OR DO YOU MAYBE LIKE LYME REGIS BETTER??

    lymeregis.jpg

so if you wouldnt mind leave Thailand for the people who do like it the way it was and is and hopefully will always be.

2 of the three photos are the same.

  10. If you tell SCB you used a pin number they will refuse to return the card.

An SCB ATM took my card after the machine rebooted. I told them I did not have time to insert a pin number. I got the card back after 2 days.

Each machine has a number. The bank will want that number to be certain they go to the correct machine.

I tried to reply yesterday but TV went down so hope this info is not too late.
