What firewall are you using? Windows firewall?

As I have said in another topic in Pattaya forum, you can get away with more than 200 cigs going into the UK from outside the EU. A lot depends on your attitude when stopped.

I have and often do go back with 200 - 400 cigs and 10 packs of tobacco. When searched I simply tell them I smoke and they are for personal use. Do NOT forget to smile and be polite.

A great many people going into the UK from Thailand will be searched. They are looking for drugs mainly and weapons also. So expect to be stopped. And if you have that many cigs that you mention, they will be taken.

There is often some leeway but your amount would be taking the piss as far as they are concerned and you could be in more of the brown stuff.

IF you post them, do NOT send them in their cartons!! Break open the cartons and pack them into a different size and shape so they do not look like cartons of cigs

Yesterday and today whenever I reply to a topic the main window stays open ( as a bar at the top of my screen) as if it is trying to reply and failing to do so. Yet the reply is posted in that particular topic. I know it has posted my reply because I can refresh the forum page and see that my reply is there.

I have to manually close the reply window.

What is happening? Is this a forum problem?

I am using Firefox 9.0.1 and have been for a while so not expecting that to be the problem. And my surfing, downloading/uploading habits have not changed. Neither has my computer had anything added.

All the time I have been typing this the reply to a topic is still shown as incomplete, yet my reply is posted.

Maybe the drive is not recognised BUT you can try Recuva ( a free download - google it ) that might be able to recover the files. i had an 800 GB drive that needed formatting to be read. I did a quick format and recovered all my data.

If the drive does have a read/write problem then I cannot see recuva working.

For free and a few minutes of your time it might be worth a try.

The current Etihad deal is for limited time stay so those looking for a long term deal need look elsewhere. I tried 9 month and they turned it down.

What about the View Talay 6 nearby?

They must have lots of empty units, no?

As the phone call went today with all pleasantries from an ex girlfriend, she casually informs me she has not had a period for the last 2 months - she went back home late October / early November.

My concern is that she is pregnant yet she says not and that she has had a test from the pharmacy which came back negative. She has had 2 children (13 yrs + 8 yrs) and tells me she feels no pregnancy symptoms.

I am concerned, as a friend, what the cause might be.

She is only 35 years old so I cannot see age as being the cause, but I may well be wrong about that, not really understanding the workings of a woman's body.

While we were together she had the 3 month injections to prevent pregnancy. She did this 3 times. The last injection would have expired in early November. She tells me she is currently not taking contraceptives. No serious health problems.

She has not asked for money or made any demands. We remain friends. Therefore I do not see this as some way of getting money from me.

Obviously I am concerned she may be pregnant and I have asked her to see a doctor but she says there is no need.

Any ideas on the cause of her missing 2 periods?

Nirun is in the right area yet I have heard a lot of bad stories about that place. Yet I will consider it an option.

Next door to Nirun is 9 Karat Condo. A while ago they had unfurnished refurbished units for sale and for rent. Dirt cheap! Outside aerea of the building is very nice with good swimming pool etcetc. However, inside the building is dark, worn and a bit like council estates in the Midlands!

Inside sounds so pleasant I might move there and live in the car park

Samsung E550 seems to be a 'Sound Bar'. Not a computer.

If this Mini E550 has a 500GB drive and the same spec then go look at the computer and see if it does indeed have a 500GB drive.

Start, My Computer, C drive.

Right click, properties.

That tells you the capacity of a drive. If not 500 GB you know he is telling you porky pies

I dont think there is much (any?) demand or supply for unfurnished rental condos.

And the problem would be what to do with a house full of furniture if I rent a furnished place.

Looking at the ads in Thai Visa and the newspapers here in pattaya as well as asking around, I have yet to see any unfurnished condos for rent.

Are there any or is that too much to expect?

Knowledge of this will help me decide my next move. There are a few furnished ones over 40 sq m under 7K a month and I am trying to decide if I am going to go that way or not in the near future.

Note that there are a plethora of Viruses which disable the Windows Firewall settings through Policy / registry settings, even in Windows XP Home Edition. Therefore, it's a good idea to run a complete Virus scan in your system.

Wow! Thanks for the link. Followed the instructions and decided to install ERUNT as a complete Registry back up, restarted, checked Firewall and is now safely on

However, still can't access any sites (email specific pain in the bum) and agree with Darrel quite possibly something er, downloaded. Kept getting the usual DoubleClick (particularly from this site, and a new one stood out, namely Zedo, which when Googled shows it as being an ad site of course. I was getting 5 entries every time I ran SpyBot. So hopefully rid of that.

Have run virus scan before (and no harm in seeing if that's the culprit), but forgotten how. Er, can you run me through it please Thanks again.

In the first place if you do not know what anti-virus you have, go on line and google - ' on line anti virus' and run one of those. Bitdefender, Kapersky, Panda are all good. Let it run to the end.

If you have t anti-virus software.

If your anti-virus has not got an icon on the bottom right of the screen, go to START, ALL progs and see it there, open it. and run it. Be patient and let it finish.

In either case look to see what ( if any ) virus infections results you have. If you have any, Google them for information.

** Some infections will continue to reinfect if you have 'System Restore' turned on. It may be that you will need to turn off System Restore and run an anti-virus scan again. (If you have infections that are cleaned by a virus scan and they come back on the next re-boot of your computer, that is when you need to turn off System Restore.

Never known it that cheap for centuries.

Belgium, Spain, Portugal. All no longer that cheap since pressure applied by HMG a few years back.
