LOL. It was a decrepit disgusting garbage tip long before the Chinese package tours turned up in Pattaya.

Deserves to fail and be abandoned by tourists, but the Chinese love the place for seafood in the grotty hovels that pass for restaurants, so the speedboats will be full for a long time to come.

Toilets are a complete rip off for the decrepit stinking excuses for toilet facilities.

I can't think of a single good thing about the place.

I concur. Great, succinct insight thaibeachlovers! ?

  2. What are you reading please fakename? Because you've completely misquoted that which was written in the third paragraph above.

Writing as someone involved with the hospitality industry here, tourists love "info" which provides useful advice about things to do, good and or cheap places to eat, special events, etc., etc., and so I for one applaud Pol. Maj. Jirawat Sukontasap's efforts to assist all guests who visit Pattaya and to make them feel welcome. :clap2:

22 women, transvestites arrested in Pattaya for soliciting

This is what I find kinda weird; when someone jumps out of a high rise, for some unknown reason, The Nation always provides us with the age of the security guard; who has the very important job of pointing at a pixellated part of the picture.

With this story though The Nation cannot even be bothered to differentiate between "women" and "transvestites".

    That's very sloppy reporting.

Whaaaaat are you talking about. America treats illegal aliens better than most countries

That may be the case USPatriot however; Thailand ain't one of them!

Writing from personal experience, the words "Abu Ghirib" comes to mind - when I and 63 other fellow detainees of Barrack Block #10 were awoken late at night to 'shower' on March 2nd, 2004 at Mira Loma Detention Center in Lancaster, California.

I am 100% confident that Mr Phillip was never awoken late at night to shower and be paraded stark b*****k naked before jeering and heckling female Thai immigration officials. But please do correct me if you know otherwise; okay? So that's "Whaaat"!!!

Oh; and before I forget the PC word for "illegal aliens" is 'administrative' or 'undocumented violators'. Thank you.

This is certainly the Number one thing I love about Thailand. Now I've been living in the LOS for 14-years, I couldn't imagine living anywhere else where this item was not installed; it is essential. It would be nice though if they had these in Central Festival's toilets. As sometimes when I have a simple 'bad tummy', this is the reason that puts me off from seeing a movie.

Thank you then mrfill for providing a link.

So now he's gone from being a bum here to be one over there, it's beyond

me how able body people just throw their life away to the garbage and

resign the human race just to be a burden on others....

It's easier than you could believe ezzra. With so much debt and meagre savings for folk in occidental countries, I believe the figure is something like 33% of people are literally just one paycheck from the gutter. So if one should suffer a health emergency or lose ones' job; that's how easy it could be.

yep...thais deported him back to his own country...as should any country that values borders.

Ah! But it's the manner in which Thai Immigration have deported Mr Phillip hdkane. They have done so with compassion, dignity and respect for this United States (US) citizen.

I can write from personal experience Sir that the US's ICE could learn a LOT from the way Thailand has treated this gentleman. :wai:

he could head for Hawaii.....it has a massive homeless problem recently highlighted on BBC world.
Many Americans on skid row hustle a one way ticket there and live in shacks on handouts.

He will no longer be a Farrang - but a Haole, pronounced How Lee.

Yes; Honolulu, Hawaii would most certainly be a good choice for Mr Phillip.

Having personally lived there for 3-years I can vouch that the locals are friendly and the climate; the best in the world.

Mr Phillip will also have a new moniker though lonewolf99; beside that of "Haole", he'll also be a "Malahini". Aloha. :wai:

...so he has obviously met many good people in Pattaya

Hear, hear; there are many good people here in Pattaya. I even personally know a Royal Thai Police Commander, who; when confronted with proof to the contrary, when I was accused of something I didn't do - was incredibly generous, kind and forgiving.

Thank you then Thai Immigration for showing the world how compassionate Thais can be.

Bali should investigate why Pattaya has go-go bars and add them to its pathetic nightlife.

The Perpetual Pattaya Death Spiral has been invoked, often twice yearly, for more than a decade--or randomly when a TVF Poster doesn't like something. Waiting for this year's Worst High Season Ever??? thread & the chorus. Meanwhile things are really picking up around town. Whoops--those arriving "tourists" are all shills paid by TAT.

That is EXACTLY what my friend and I were discussing at dinner last night. TAT's economy with the truth in reporting ever increasing tourist figures - is laid bare. Go see for yourself on Dongtan Beach if you don't believe me. Concessions have been squeezed to such a degree that packed concessions 4-years ago, which were twice today's size...are today only half full.

    Absolute stupidity!

If a person (think farang) smokes a cigarette on the beach, he can get a fine of 100,000 baht. This is absolutely absurd and even more so when you consider that a Thai can violently assault a farang and receive a whopping 500 baht fine and then walk away without jail time. I'm all for "no smoking" but the realistic fine should be about 1000 baht.

Seems the government is trying its best to destroy the Pattaya beaches frequented by farangs. The beaches were enjoyable more than 10 years ago. Now they are dirty, very compressed limited seating and soon no more food and beer. Doesn't anyone in charge know what beach users want?

The people in charge of Pattaya need to go to Bali (Kuta and Legian) for a few weeks and learn from them how to make a success of the beaches both daytime and also allow night time use. Bali beaches are far better that Pattaya. They might also investigate why Bali's night life is prospering while Pattaya is in a downward spiral.

On second thought these are not a reasonable suggestions as Thais already know everything and have no need to learn anything different or new from non Thais.

Very, very, very good critique aguy30! Thank you. :wai:

I mean; what a drippy, sad loser to come-up with such a pathetic excuse. Where's the bug spray when you need it!

The scourge of meterless taxis can be cured within a week: a series of passengers from  the police station not in uniform.  A severe fine/confiscation of taxi.  Problem is the bogus passengers are raking it in monthly by staying away from taxis.

Great post Mike. Thank you for succinctly highlighting the problems Re: Taxi fares - that are sadly endemic here. :wai:
