There are probably plenty of admirals they could send, and with a bit of work HMS Victory could be brought back into active service but they would have to send the press gangs out on the streets of Portsmouth to get a crew for it.

Don't forget the Mary Rose. With just a lick of paint and some serious TLC, she'd be 'okay' to sail-off; IMHO too. :whistling:

You say you have been 'done' before, maybe you should learn a lesson, don't drink and drive simple. You did, take your punishment.

Yup DGS1244 'Zero Tolerance' IMHO is by far the simplest and easiest solution.

do you have a road map and does it include a coup every five years?

What if it was an acronym instead which meant something positive like Colloquy Operative Uniting Politics. Surely a C.O.U.P. every 5-years would then be okay?

IMHO that would sound BS enough to spin the necessary facts without affecting the GDP and have the UN with their knickers in a veto.

OP.... You were fined and deported for BASKING..... laying in the sun and enjoying yourself... Watch out folks immigration have found a new excuse to send us back to our country of origin :shock1:.

I joke... I think you meant BUSKING  ....... play music for money.

If the quality of the music provided by the OP wasn't all that good though 007 RED, I guess it's conceivable that there could be a Thai law on the statute books that penalizes 'Baskin' Robbins'? :sorry:

Sickening..... A better, more reliable, more honest service is available and in the face of competition the Taxi-Thugs who themselves have operated illegally (no meter etc) are supported by the Authorities after they have further proven their propensity for illegal actions in escalating to violence.

All that has happened here is to provide the Taxi-thugs with a greater sense of entitlement for them to continue doing what they do best, ripping of customers, but now do so with a greater sense that they can do whatever they want and get away with it....

Great piece of insight richard_smith237. You're 'spot on' Sir. Thank you for sharing.

  6. The strange thing is, in many instances the technology to fight against counterfeit goods and Intellectual Property Rights infringement has existed for years.

IMHO I would place the onus for augmenting these respective technologies with the manufacturers, as whether this is achieved overtly or covertly -  I believe it is certainly doable and would then provide the necessary safeguards to protect consumers.

  7. With respect since moving to Pattaya in 2009 I have always written to the Ombudsman of Thailand with great affect when officious officials have threatened me.

The Ombudsman of Thailand has in fact given me closure most professionally may I say - with two matters; one involving Bangkok Pattaya Hospital and another which concerned the Royal Thai Police.

Oh and unlike previously dealing with similar bodies in the UK and US, I have to say that to date Thailand has been great; #1 in fact.

If the Ombudsman of Thailand could be made available of this video therefore, I am confident that despite the name-calling (i.e. "mafia"), the municipal officer concerned will feel like a proverbial one-legged man at an ass-kicking contest by the time they have finished with him.

  8. It's such a disgrace and a real shame Pattaya City hall cannot sort the water quality out. Twiddling the proverbial knobs by trying to fix what isn't broken (i.e. the so called recent improvements to Jomtien and Dongtan Beaches) and talking-up what Pattaya might become (i.e. a Sports Hub, a Boating Hub, etc.,) IMHO fools no one and so I feel sad that apathy reigns supreme here, where the water quality is a blight and a continuing embarrassment.

  9. Well, if I may respectfully add a comment smo? Having personally witnessed in Thailand; and all money aside - the sexual preference of gerontophilia.

IMHO an occidental upbringing for me at least simply exposes how goofy and flawed our programming can be where once a person hits 35-years of age they're suddenly considered to be 'invisible'.

I find gerontophilia therefore to be yet another charming aspect of SEA culture, where genuine love like this can and does bloom without any 'quid pro quo' mentality at all.

  10. The Futile Pursuit Championship Cup

Venue: Sri Racha District - Wednesday, October 4th, 2017.

    Law Enforcement 2 (2):(0) 3 Oldest Profession

    Thai 1                                        Status-Quo 80, 85, 90

    Lao 31

What promised to be an exciting match ended; as it ALWAYS does with Oldest Profession out playing Law Enforcement for the umpteenth time.

Law Enforcement started strong with Thai scoring in the first minute and Lao extending their lead just after half-an-hour. However; as is ALWAYS the case, Oldest Profession secured yet another victory as Law Enforcement capitulated in what was a 'week' second period, which saw Status-Quo prevail with a late hat-trick due to Law Enforcement's sheer negligee...or something like that.

I remember reading that the burglars confessed to having seen sacks and sacks of currency which was initially reported to be about a billion. But when it went to court, the official amount was a paltry 17.5 million.

Doing the maths...there could well be 'something' in what the burglars saw as:

    1. ฿17.5-million in ฿1,000 notes would weigh 17.5-kgs. A single stack of money with 17,500 new banknotes would be 1.75-meters high and would have a volume of at least 18 litres. For transportation, 2 strong men could easily carry this; however...

    2. A ฿1-billion in ฿1,000 notes would weigh 1-ton. A single stack of money with 1-million new banknotes would be 100-meters high and would have a volume of at least 1,035 litres. For transportation, a small truck would be required.

The corruption surfaced after burglars broke into Supoj’s house in Bangkok’s Wang Thong Lang district on November 12, 2011 while he was at his daughter’s wedding.

In the theft complaint, Supoj told police that only Bt5 million cash was missing. However, when several suspects were later arrested, Bt18 million in cash and gold ornaments were retrieved.

    Two comments here:

    1. That's an awfully long period of time from when the corruption first surfaced 'til Mr Saplom's sentencing. That's a good sign; right?

    2. Note to Mr Saplom - people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

I wonder, how many other countries charge to $15/day for overstaying your visa?  Most just kick you out and won't let you back in.   Thailand is such a shakedown, it gets irritating.

Thailand is an 'amateur' when it comes to 'tourist fees'. Bhutan charges $200 per day during low season and $250 per day during high season - just to be there!
