Usually no problem to get a visa thru Jim. Onward ticket, hotel booking, passport, fee. Just google Thai public holidays and Malaysia public holidays beforehand and don't go when those public holidays are in the way. Unless you only want one more 30 day visa exempt stamp, they likely will ask extra questions and pressure u a bit when entering. There is info in other forum threads about other embassies and consulates where a tourist visa can be gotten.. Yangon, Vientiane, Ho Chi Minh City...

For what its worth the next public Holiday coming up here in Malaysia in their national day August 30th

This does appear to be a visa that will either require the holder to do a lot of border run's as non-immigrant visas tend to incur as a 90 day stay maximum or a fair few trips to immigrations for quarterly/yearly extensions.

However, I can see chiefs of Immigration becoming salesmen for health insurance companies - a ludicrous rule to buy from a Thai company when a number of companies offer worldwide coverage and many applicant at 50 yo's may already have such insurance from their home country.

  3. How about getting a proper visa for Thailand and not Abusing the system? It might actually mean less questions for you and easier entry. Study Thai - 1 year ED visa. Do some legit volunteer work for a few months  - proper B visa.

Still, I dont understand the need to stay in Thailand - It's sh*te hole and gone properly downhill during the past few years - one of the reasons I left - and that is despite having zero visa issues period.

It is a consumers world - if they don't want your hard earned money - spend it somewhere else and take your good lady with you - she will enjoy the travel and experience and quite possibly the two of you will grow together and strengthen your relationship.

  4. Yep Mr General..good move and great thinking... She definitely learned those moves and on stage dress sense by being badly influenced by them. There is absolutely no way humanly possible on god's forsaken earth that she could have possibly been influenced by the 50+ years history and 2-3 generations of local ladies working down in Soi Cowboy, Pattaya, Patong, and many of the other places across the country.. Of course, sir..it is all but polite speaking and Isaan dancing going on in those establishments!

But hey ho..it is not the first time Mr General has hiden some "a$$ets" - nor the last. Just this time they were not his own!

  5. Excuse me for being cynical but she has known she is HIV positive all her life given her age then turn up at a Red Cross who were giving anonymous and free tests, turns up with a lawyer and allows the media to film the test? sorry but speaks of a girl overdosing on the antivirals in order to obtain a negative result a sue - which of course can indeed be a false negative.

Full chemical analysis of her blood sample required before I believe this one. It is after all known as Lieland for a reason and she did turn up at the Thai Red Cross Society’s Anonymous Clinic for HIV test knowing she was HIV positive with a lawyer!

The Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD) has said in the past that anyone pressing “like” to a wrongful online status can be guilty as the Criminal Code’s Article 83 punishes a conspirator to a wrongful action.

“An act of liking a wrongful Facebook status is equal to signing to endorse such an act,” the TCSD said. “While likers may not have the direct intention [on the wrongful act], an act of pressing ‘like’ increases the credibility of such information,” the TCSD said.

    Right!

So, basically, all those people that cause a video of say a couple of horny foreigners shagging in a tuk tuk or Thai kids shagging in the classroom on their teachers desk by sharing, liking and commenting on the post are also guilty of a criminal act. Furthermore, police that share images and photos of an arrested criminal via the media/social media are guilty of endorsing criminal activity?

The 28 second long video was posted to on the Facebook page of Sornchai Uadsree last night (May 5) together with the message, “Can’t they wait until they arrive at a hotel? Really can’t they wait to do this?”

Really? Sir...you have to tailgate behind a Tuk Tuk get the phone out and start filming it, watch a replay then upload to the internet In all probability while driving. Seriously Sornchai Uadsree could not you wait till you got home to watch some voyeur porn flicks?

Most public servants are on low wagers and are only there for there so called small pensions that they get at the end as long as they bend over and take it for there bosses for 30 years.

A lot not all have debts that they paid to get there positions.

Actually, Thai law gives a government pension of mediocre 1% of final salary for every year worked under proper full time employment contract government worker or not!

Just saying! Makes it pretty sad when most don't work under an employment contract.

    (apologies - off topic!)

  9. A foreigner on overstay! Oh my god! lets slaughter him! throw book at him ..full weight of the law!

....All while pretty much letting a rather well of high so that killed and dragged a policeman dozens of meters down the road flaunt the law and get away pretty much scott free for years!

He faces charges of speeding, hit-and-run and reckless driving causing death over an incident in 2012 when he allegedly crashed his Ferrari into a policeman on a motorcycle in Bangkok and fled the scene, dragging the officer's body for several dozen meters with his car as he did so.

It was the eighth time he has missed a summons since legal proceedings against him began in 2016.

Right....4 years to begin legal proceedings..definitely not favouring the wealthy...I do indeed how many countries would drag their heels for years over the death/killing of an officer of the law or indeed if he was a poor two bob 3 rai rice farmer from the north east

Well, at least he has his excuses sorted out! Seriously what kind of court other than a kangaroo court accepts work commitments as a legit valid and acceptable reason for not showing up! .. hold on while I slay someone and refuse to show up for a hearing citing "im too busy at work" as my reason for no show!.

A no show itself in most civilised non-cartoon countries has serious implications and penalties!

Dude could have come up with something better like "I was on my way to court sir, My private jet had to make an refuelling stop in Abu Dhabi, the captan advised on emergency maitenence/repairs .. (or could nt get appropriate take off time slot) to be in court on time your honour! awfully sorry about that - here the official paper work and afidavits to prove it"

The local amphur can issue a residency certificate. It costs 20 baht in Phetchabun. The documents required are proof of address and passport.

    Not quite.

I got my passport by using a letter from the bank as proof of address. My Bank account I opened with nothing but my passport and a multi-entry non O visa some 6 years ago - no other document was required.

It varies by office.  This is probably a "no receipt" transaction.  There are 2 ways to look at this:

    1. These are "supposed to be free" (but when this has been pushed, some offices simply stopped issuing them)
    2. Wow - that is so much cheaper than getting one from my embassy - a great deal.

I'd opt for the #2 approach, out of practicality.

But for Bank Account purposes - if you shop around, you may find a branch of a bank which does not require this.  One branch of Bangkok Bank close to me requires it, even though I already have an account.  Yet the branch where I opened the original account did not require it, and still does not.

How do you go about getting one from your Embassy - what are the requirements?
