Typical sensationalist, biased report. I now for a fact that there are at least 2-3 pommie retirees that aren't drunk perverts.
But are they happy?
It was a British TV channel program and would appeal to many British viewers. If it was biased, so what?

Local knowledge is an amazing thing ...
Some things it's probably better not to know about!

Come and live in Phan village i am treated the same as them,no i dont have to buy them drinks but i do as i would in the uk,these thai people are the most friendly people i have ever met,if you pass a house i get shouts come roy eat and drink this is the way the real people of thailand are,a lady asked me to take her in car to take many fishing nets i waited outside then i noticed party opposite i just looked then suddenly man came up with a glass of beer he said come and join us,they offered me food which they waitited till i started eating then they started, and i have never met this man before i tell you this wouldnt happen in my country.
Ditto for Laos. Hospitality personified.

I have met some real people here in Thailand. Although, far fewer than in my natal country.
South Africa???
Or Brazil?

... Parochialism, inward looking locals and even xenophobia are not peculiar to Thailand. These traits are burgeoning all over the developed western world. I know ( first hand ) my home town in the NE of England would be a particularly 'challenging' place to get settled and accepted by the average newcomer. I've lived in OZ for a good while now ( and consider myself truly blessed by the way ) because my hometown in comparison is ( like most inner city British towns/cities ) chock full of Neanderthals.
No need to single out the NE. The NW is much the same and I dare say other regions of our country. You notice it much more as an outsider with a different accent.

It has made me a much angrier person but I won't elaborate as people will start attacking me for it...
That often comes with advancing age, and not just in Thailand!

You wont need the electric outlet converter. The outlets accept the USA configured two prong plug.
Try plugging a 110 volt only appliance into a 220 volt 2 pin socket and see what happens.

-
You can buy 220 -110 volt converters in Thailand, but check your devices first; many phone and laptop chargers and small appliance adapters are flexible, handling from 100 to 240 volts.

"Nahhon Sawan and Chiang Mai were two provinces that have the highest number of accidents, each with 111 mishaps."
Mishaps?
No, just "unlucky days". They should have consulted the monks before venturing out.

The transport minister, should be removed!
And just how will that help?

at last kanga a positive thread about Thailand, congratulations!!Costas2008, on 01 Jan 2014 - 22:27, said:Nignoy, on 02 Jan 2014 - 06:02, said:Please....tell me .....where can I find good friends and relatives like yours?
Envy you.
But....But.....I love Thailand.
That's why, after 6 years, I'm still here.
By the way....I googled "kanga" and that's what came up!!!!!
The kanga (or khanga; from the old Bantu (Kiswahili) verb ku-kanga, to wrap or close), is a colourful garment similar to kitenge, worn by women and occasionally by men throughout the African Great Lakes region. It is a piece of printed cotton fabric, about 1.5m by 1m, often with a border along all four sides (called pindo in Swahili), and a central part (mji) which differs in design from the borders.
I've been called many things in my life........but a.......colourful garment........never before!
Thanks anyway.
.I googled "kanga"???????
No wait! Kangawallafox err Kanga...............come on you'll get there
Now I'm lost!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You're a bit out of your depth with your new bromance. His name is a combination of animals : kangaroo, wallaby and fox. Google them if you want.

It sounds like this will be your first visit to Thailand as well. Best of British, old chap, you might need it.

Recently, there was a buddha day (as it is called here).
My wife is not into religion and monks, but she went to the wat (social pressure).
I proud myself to leading her astray, but the seed was planted by her father, who told her "never believe what you can not see".
Not so evident for a poor farmer... Respect to that man!
She brought food with her to give to the monks, I believe that is what todays 'alms' are.
It was PORK. Dead pork. Pigs are animals. Pigs live.
When I asked my wife "can monks eat dead animals?", she said "sure, why not?".
You do need to do a little research. Buddhist monks are not supposed to kill an animal (or see it killed) then eat the meat from it. That's all. As long as someone else does the 'deed' it's okay. But of course rules are often broken.

Not the same thing at all. The McD pic shows kids stuffing their faces. If you don't get the difference too bad.
HEREThat picture was just a cheap attempt at fat shaming. Ignore the social problems. Just mock fat people. It doesn't wash. It's nasty actually.
Not that you are ever guilty of that JT ...
HEREYou live where in Thailand?
It was the gratuitous use of a photo that suited your purpose.
From that article ... the only time it referred to children was in this statement ... "The study also found that road accidents, violence, and HIV-infection were major causes of death among men aged between 15 and 29 years of age."
It was just a photo you needed to suite your post.
If you BS ... most times you get caught out ...
.
Sent from my Lenovo S820_ROW using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
The photo should be shown everywhere as a message. The first boy's arm looks too short for his hand to reach his mouth. Force-fed by his family?

And you know this how ? Which countries ? You have definitive proof ?Those stats, like many others (crime, etc) have to be taken with a grain of salt (i.e. a bit of consideration) as there are no doubt many, many countries in the world with far worse stats than Thailand.
However, reporting "standards" (or reports at all) are at best incomplete (or non-existent) and at worst, heavily "doctored" by various authorities than have a vested interest in making things look better than they really are. "Western" (or perhaps "First World") countries tend to be a little more honest with reporting such matters.
Exactly, so with or without your grain of salt, which countries might have worse figures than Thailand?

What is caps lock button, and where is it?A post using all caps has been removed. Turn off your Caps Lock button when posting.
I think he needs some help using a touchscreen keyboard. There isn't a Caps Lock button as such. It's an up arrow pressed twice.

Changed for the worse without a doubt
That's goes for a lot of other places too, though, doesn't it?

Would you care to elaborate Barnical Bill!
I thought he did pretty well. I'd also like to see something similar written from the opposite perspective: what Thai women are looking for online.

Great news for CM resident farang, I'm sure.
Can you please expand your thoughts a little more?
Hard to know if you are serious or just slinging off!
He is saying that this is great news for people living in Chiang Mai. There are many flight options opening up for CM residents recently. It would definitely save travelers time since they don't have to connect in Bangkok as much. More non-stop flights is always a good thing!
Okay..........and thanks for that.
Was just not sure if he thought so what! With the last couple of words.
I agree with you (and him if applicable) that it is great news.
I've actually visited the part of China in question and it is really a great and beautiful area all around there.
Plus I am a loyal Air Asia user, as now retired their fares allow me to do so much more.
Of course I was , but here's another couple of words. Incoming! Incoming!

The Thais would have stopped off for 'real' food before they had to endure farang stuff. I'm not joking.
But yes, Thai and Lao can take forever to get ready to go out.

you can't really blame the cops for the populace's deep belief in reincarnation and therefore not so worried about death, more concerned with enjoying themselves and living in the moment regardless of the consequences...
you really don't know nothing about thailand.I guess only barstool stories about how thailand being a bad country etc.Now go back to soi 6.
'He doesn't know nothing' means he does know something - and he's quite right about the Thai populace.

Hi Shurup. I use NQ Mobile Security on all of my Samsung phones, Notes and Tablets.. I have used them for four years now and when the chips are down, they work. Check them out at nq dot com. I use Mobile Security PRO. The PRO version costs approx 31 Baht. A little message comes up to remind you it's time to renew. There are a a whole suite of features ranging from Anti theft, anti spy, virus and malware detectors and malware destroyers, system protector and phone trackers and contacts backup. Many more features too like find my phone, alarm and delete your phone via computor. IT also updates automatically or you may update manually, over WiFi or mobile service.
My 23 Satangs worth.
NO I don't get any commision or recognition from them, it's just that I have used and tested many sytems and products and like to advise on ones I know that work.
Happy new year.
Exactly what are you referring to that costs 31 baht? The only product I can see costs $25.

A load of old bolony.I trust and believe in God and God alone, and through my belief, God has blessed me with a most fortunate life and is sufficent for me.
Good for you, but if you are serious, aren't sorcery, black magic, ghosts and spirits, voodoo, superstition and religion also just beliefs - things in your head?

I'd never buy or give anything to these folks. Eventually 5 or 10B to the blind guy who makes annoying noise to go away.
Actually it keeps him coming back for more. I can tolerate hawkers outside a restaurant but inside is taboo. If I pay for a meal I expect to be able to eat it in peace. Thailand or no Thailand.
You won't always get what you expect - Thailand or no Thailand!
Some interesting statistics about Brits retiring to LOS

At least some of those old drunks are not lonely lost souls - as they probably would be in their home countries.
