    The new guide

Unfortunately, and no surprise, this guide has inaccurate channels numbers that don't coincide with the actually channel numbers you'll see on your TV.

Download my spreadsheets, they are only for Platinum package.

Carry on, blaming the Thai moron youngsters and forget what's happening in your own countries on a much bigger scale.

I don't know where you come from, but if these guys were in Australia, they'd face the full brunt of the law, no matter who their families are.... unless protect by diplomatic immunity, but you can't blame a country for that.

God, even Thais can't communicate with each other, I thought it was a just a Thai/Falang problem.

Many times I would ask a Thai person, "How do you say this word in Thai?" they would tell me. Then I would use the word with another Thai and they would explain, "You never use that word that way in the Thai language" - I swear there are some major problems in communication.

This accident is why I would also never trust any dangerous sport in Thailand like rock-climbing or sky-diving - Hell No.

Have you ever been on a trip with ,some Thais (if I don't say some then I will be suspended...again), they know where they want to go, but often not know how to get there, so it take numerous stops at shops, servos private house etc, to ask directions, the funny thing is, some of those giving direction only "THINK" that is the way to go, even when I, a farang, using GPS, tell them it is the wrong way, do they believe me ...no way

Maybe there are many reasons that the new channel numbering system needs to be adopted and a 10 hour window is required to have the work done. It is hard to judge if they are appropriate without all the background information in the process. I am not in the industry so I would accept it. Unfortunately, as a customer, I really feel (once again) that I am on my own to survive an(other) event. Such sophisticated numbering system could not be just the results of an overtime meeting or an overnight project; they knew which channel would be converted to which new channel days and weeks before but no helpful information FOR the users was provided to the users. A simple conversion chart of old and new channels as hard copy in their monthly TV guide or as pdf on their homepage for downloading could have saved them from many complaints and time to deal with these complaints (such as phone calls).

One may think this is simply just another example of "users are left out in the planning" and foreigners are complaining again. Frankly speaking, I never expect things be the same here in Thailand as back home, however, just spending a little bit more time and have a bit empathy towards the users - sharing information and communicating a bit more effectively - can make their hard work valued and outcome better. ...or the Airport Rail Link train maintenance may not take one year (http://www.bangkokpost.com/breakingnews/404386/rail-link-s-phaya-thai-line-suspended) ...... the wireless electricity is coming soon in Bangkok (http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/715463-wireless-electricity-to-be-launched-in-bangkok/ )....

Does history really repeat itself? I hope not.

PC Wong, I hope this helps.

Having to key in 3 digits is a bit of a nuisance...since few people actually have 689 channels - maybe no one.  I sure hope True figures out a way to allow customers to eliminate all useless channels, i.e. channels that a subscriber did not purchase or channels that a paying customer choses not to EVER watch.

Yeah, I always find it strange that "Favourites" doesn't seem to work. On my TV I can set favourites o remove unwanted ch's, then only skip through my favaorites, I don't understand why the Truevisions HD box (Samsung) doesn't have a decent "Favourites" menu.

I am totally confused what the channel numbers you guys are referring to.

I get my supply from a common supply that feeds into all the condos where I live and hence I have no box to act upon - Hence I used the functions on the remote >Menu>Setup>Auto Tune -> And I end up with numbers 1 to 28 filled with the channels.

I have now lost movies Channel and KBS world and now http://www.foxtvasia.com/Programmes/NCIS/Guide is dubbed in Thai language where before it was English (American) - But I have no clue how I can do anything other than auto tune from the remote control - Since there are a couple of experts in this thread so I know I am in good hands when I ask this question!

I would suspect your problem with NCIS is that someone has played with the set top box, where you can select Thai or English, have a talk to the condo manager, why you have lost the movie channels I can't guess, need to know the set up for the condo's, some have channel multiplexers that take one frequency and change it up or down, if this is the case then a tech will need to be called in as the multiplexers may not 1) be in the right frequency range or 2) need to be re-set up.

I have lost Explore 2 and 3, the few channels I watch...........They are there but no transmission..........sad.png

They should be on Ch's 560 and 561, if not down power your box, wait 60 sec's, then repower, if that fails call True. It's possible your dish may be slightly out of line, it happened to mine a few weeks back after a storm, some ch's worked others didn't, a ladder, a spanner, and 5 minutes fixed it.

Ok OK I just get  used to the last renumbering and start to remember the channels when they do a renumbering again MORONS.

But the thing that bothers me is the insensant Scrolling at the bottom of the TV. OK OK OK I Know their is renumbering that is coming and has been completed STOP THE SCROLLING

I am watching entertainment. BUT no more scrolling STOP  STOP STOP STOP IT

    TRUE IS BOGUS

I think we will see another re-numbering when they realise that the new ch's 14 - 112 will need to be "categorised" as now they are a hog posh of mixed categories.

QuoteAs a technician I ask why was this renumbering necessary ...

As was mentioned in the several other threads running on the same topic, the numbering now puts programs in common groupings and allows for adding to them without, hopefully, further renumbering. While it would have been nice to have done this earlier, rather than lumping the HD channels together without regard to type of program, it does make sense.

    "As a technician ..."

       bad_a-c_repair-285x300.png    Dental? Air conditioning?

"I hope, but do not expect, a reasonable reply, if any."

Well, at least you can take comfort in knowing displays of unwarranted pomposity will cause a lot of laughter.

Why did they lump non-English movies between English ones i.e. 232 -238.. would have made more sense to put them either before or after.

Some are now classified as "A La Carte" eg old number 64 BBC Entertainment, is NOT on the new Platinum List, but is in fact ch 354 you need to download my excel sheets.

BBC Entertainment has always been a premium 'add on' channel, it was never part of the Platinum line up (since it was reintroduced a couple of years ago).

I really don't understand how you think it has been renamed or deleted... as you say, it's on Ch 354 (and named correctly)

    totster smile.png

Well totster, that's strange, because I had a look at the old channel listing for the "Platinum" package, and it clearly shows ch 64 BBC Entertainment...no mention of "add on," so why is it now missing and classified as A La Carte.

Maybe the rope snapped or the winch failed. The report doesn't actually say that he fell from the harness. You wouldn't normally have your arms stretched out as he had if you were in a controlled drop and the photo definitely shows the rope still attached [to him]

Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

From a photo you can not tell if he is in fact falling, being winched down or suspended.

How would a miscommunication cause him to fall out of a supposedly secure harness?

Are the retrieve/release words similar in Thai?

I don't know about Thailand, they seem to do things the Thai way, but usually it is the officer/rescuer who releases themselves, not the helicopter crew.

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation is warning Thais of sudden summer storms during the rainy season. Who would have guessed we'll have rain during the rainy season? Thank you DDPM for your scientific insights. Next thing you know DDPM will be warning of a drought during the dry season.

It's an interesting name for a government body, but have they ever "prevented" a disaster or done much to "mitigate" any damage or other effects, of a disaster?

Umm... I can still receive those channels (apart from IN TV, which I can't remember ever watching), clearly marked on the new channel list (jpg) that was posted previously.

    Are you on cable ?

Just had a funny thought...Can you imagine how many old farts will be lying in bed tonight with the new channel list in one hand and the remote in the other, trying to work out where their favourite shows are......biggrin.png.....me included.

I'll be a bit the same... my fingers know where to go, but only for the old numbers...now I'll need to print out my cheat sheet and have a lamp on..

Common sense need not apply here or anywhere else in this country, and so far to date, it doesn't

And they don't want to say it's another renumbering exercise, because they didn't get it right the last 2 times.

Public castration with a dull, rusty knife, then knees shattered permanently with 10 pound sledge hammer would be a good start for them

A certain Ed.. the editor, from one of Phuket's online media would consider your thinking primitive, if true, then you are not alone, I would gladly stand beside other primitives.

So, would either of you actually do the castration or knee cap shattering yourself?

Did everyone get asked to hang someone in the days of capital punishment.... what you say is beside the point, except you taking cheap shots... I am sure there are many, including the ladies family and husband who would gladly do the deed, same as in many countries were chemical castration is performed and in some countries, I believe Germany, Czech republic and many muslim countries, where de-nutting is performed. How quick I think you would change your mind if the victim was a family member, eg, wife, sister mother, or a friend that was raped. Your "holier than thou" attitude sucks, cheap comments but I bet you'd quickly become a hypocrite.
