  1. BORK meaning the Bridge over the River Kwai.

I have a friend here now that has a 2 week holiday and one place he wants me to take him is to BORK, then after to Koh Chang etc.

Im not sure if this would be the right forum to ask in or maybe the mods think it might be better in the Bkk forum?

I have GPS etc and know that I can use the Bkk bipass but with the farmers etc and the road blocks I would sure like to know if this is feasable or not?

Thanks in advance for any help or thoughts.

  2. The Mac store on the ground floor of Tukcom is a good place however I bought an MacBook Pro in 2011 and the motherboard just crashed 2 months ago. I paid 54,000 b for the 13" and they want 30,000 b to replace the motherboard. Don't forget your Mac doesn't come with Microsoft which is another 3,900 b. Also I would NEVER buy any cables, adapters etc from the Mac store as they ar 10 times the price if you just go to another store on the 3rd floor.

Also as pointed out above, none of these Mac stores sell copy products.

  3. On Sunday most of the farmers go vote the Pheu Thai Party & Yinluck back into power....and now on Thursday they go block all major roads in protest against the Yinluck govt. What happened? Did the farmers all sober up since Sunday. I know, I know, they just want to get paid...quite understandable...but why vote for the same people who haven't been paying you and just filling your pockets with vote-buying IOUs?

How do you know the farmers voted PTP? Did you get some sort of early poll statistic release? They might also be not so confident in the PTP any more and could have taken the "No-Vote" or even not voted for PTP.

I feel very sad for these poor farmers that we ALL rely on throughout the world and enough is enough.

Whay ever happened to the money that was seized from Thaksin (billions of baht"? Maybe they can pay the farmers that way?

Yesterday there was a newss article how Yingluk was rich and Suthep was poor. Maybe she should pay them?

    RULE # 1..........NEVER screw the farmers !!!!!!!!

  4. Rights to Protect the Constitution

    Section 68.

    Part 13

    Rights to Protect the Constitution

Section 68. No person shall exercise the rights and liberties prescribed in the Constitution to overthrow the democratic regime of government with the King as Head of the State under this Constitution or to acquire the power to rule the country by any means which is not in accordance with the modes provided in this Constitution.

In the case where a person or a political party has committed the act under paragraph one, the person knowing of such act shall have the right to request the Prosecutor General to investigate its facts and submit a motion to the Constitutional Court for ordering cessation of such act without, however, prejudice to the institution of a criminal action against such person.

In the case where the Constitutional Court makes a decision compelling the political party to cease to commit the act under paragraph two, the Constitutional Court may order the dissolution of such political party.

In the case where the Constitutional Court issues an order dissolving the political party under paragraph three, the right to vote of the dissolved political partys leader and executive committee members at the time of the commission of the offence

  5. Let's remember folks, he is still a kid. Yes he did wrong but a 1-5 year prison sentence is just wrong.

He will have the opportunity to settle before his case goes to the Prosecutor and he better do so and just move on.

If he shows the taxi driver some remore, politeness etc. he might get off by compensating him. I hope so.

Yes theft is wrong but as an 18-year-old kid I can only imagine how he felt when he was being arrested (scared as hell) and also being intoxicated wouldn't help.

I think no matter what happens his "stealing" days are over.....lesson learned (we can only hope).

  6. I bought 2 of those stands for the patio that you can put tim lanterns in and light up at night. I went to a shop with one of the containers so he could see it (wick and all) and he sold me some but when I filled the lanters it smoked black to no end and big time too.

Does anyone know eher I can buy something that doesn't smoke black like this and what it is called (Thai or English) please.

    Thanks in advance,

  7. You could always try the Pattaya Plaza Condotel on Sukhumvit Rd on Soi Heaven. They are just studios but 40sqm and could look around while staying there for a month. I have a corner unit so can see the ocean and the mountains and it's only 6000 baht per month fully furnished and water/electricity is fairly cheap. There is plenty of secure parking and they only want one month deposit. There are a few double-room condos that go for around 10 - 12,000 BPM.

  8. There used to be a car park next door to the bus station - Here

I don't know the price for cars, but motorcycles were 40 baht/day.

Yes my friend parks there quite frequently (2 or 3 times per week). It's just to the left of the bus station if you were on Pattaya Nua looking at the terminal. There is construction going on there now so you could miss it but there still is access easy enough. Don't quote me but I think he paid 100 baht per night for his truck. Never had any probems.

  9. It's very simple really; they don't want people getting drunk and going to the polling stations intoxicated and they can't really say "ok farangs can buy alcholol but Thais cannot"

    Makes sense to me really.

In the Philippines they have similar alcohol laws for election days, but there tourists/farangs etc are exempt (or at least they used to be when I lived there).

    Now that makes sense.

Yes THAT is pretty cool.Didn't the Philipinos get angry when that haoppend? I think the Thais would.

I do think it is good ruling to try and get the Voters to obstain from getting plastered on voting days but couldn't imagine the police harrasing any farangs for drinking anywhere on these types of days.

Anyways, glad it all went pretty smooth so far.

  10. I think it was a GREAT call by the court.

Does anyone know how the death penelty is execuded in Thailand; I mean is it lethal injection, hanging etc.?

That sad thing is that the death penelty is to fast for a coward like him. He should be made to suffer more in my opinion.

  11. A man kicked a female in the mouth. That is the bottom line no matter what his excuse was. That is disgusting and I feel so sorry for the poor girl. I really hope she can find a better place to live and act like a youngster should do being able to voice her opinions fairly.

I do hope the girls mother realizes how bad this man is and divorces him and they both move out with a restraining order.

  12. Stop blaming Thaksin and the reds etc as nobody knows right now. I am not Red or Yellow etc as I am just a foreigner but I know one thing........I HATE SEEING PEOPLE DYING over political unrest.

Suthep doesn't want the present government in ok fair enough but there are other ways of going about it rather then starting an ilegal rally after the King as aready declared a new election on Feb 2nd. Best off he starts with his Campaign rather then leading a bloodshed rally no?

It's simple really: Call the protest off then nobody else gets hurt then go to the negotiation commitee that has now been set up and hope you win the election too.

It really doesn't matter who has commited these cowardly acts. What does matter is when can they stop.

STOP THE BLOOD SHED SUTHEP !!!!!!
