So has anyone done a grandfathered application for a marriage visa extention after 1st October? That is,used bank balanceof 400,000 rather than the new 40,000 Baht income.
Nong Khai is notoriously fickle,is it better to go to Bangkok to do the extention?

Does Sunbelt offer the service of marriage extentions at the Nong Khai immigration offices?
-
Can I call to Immigration department and check if I am accepted or rejected in advance?
In the past i have gone in to see them at Nong Khai earlier than the consideration date and they have been happy to look it up for me.Can save time sitting around wondering.

Hi,i am due to extend my marriage visa at the end of the month(3rd year) and am worried the three month balance of 400,000 before application will be applied straight away.I got the wife to phone Nong Khai and got two different answers, yes and no. No one seems to know if it is retroactive or starts three months after 1st October.
Anyone done a successful extention after 1st October at Nong Khai with either the 400,000 balance for marriage or the 800,000 for retirement and not had that balance for the previous three months
I thought it might be a good idea to have a "success" thread so that people who are worried do not have to wade through hundreds of posts.

A local builder has used the red bricks to build some houses and they were soon covered in mold.

There was an article in the motoring section of the Bangkok Post to the effect that you have to burn more gasohol to get the equivalent output to ordinary petrol.

...or Nong Khai.

The Tesco/Lotus in NK is not nearly as good as the ones I’ve been to in Bkk
It's a conversion from an existing store that was called "Big Jeung",the owner of which took the money from Tesco and built the biggest home you have ever seen on the road to Udon. It's not far out of Nong Khai and has two life size stone lions at the gate.I thought at first it was going to be a huge rice storage warehouse but it's a home like you have never seen.

When i said passport size i meant 2cm by 4cm photo.

Fortunately approval is getting quicker every year.First visit this time.

Spit, now it's up in type for all those who follow to see.It takes all of fifteen minutes form start to finish.
-
Spit, you can save money also by getting a residency letter from immigration which is FREE.

The exponential growth of the herds of cows is amazing, although i do wonder who is going to eat all the beef.Locals here never touch it.

You also need two passport size photos.Take along a friend as everthing is in Thai.

They are also going to re open the office in the Ek Udon hospital in Udon Thani.

I pay 5000 Baht for insurance on a 1,000,000 Baht house,is that excessive?

The only thing that was tested was my perception of colour, having to name red, green and yellow dots on a wall chart.

What if it never arrives?

I know there were a lot of disgruntled people in the Udon area when immigration shut their office at the Ek Udon hospital. Not too keen to potter on down to Nong Khai for five minutes worth of 90 day reporting.
Well from November they will be back there on Mondays.
-
Reported in and no problems or fine, with the next 90 day report 90 days from today. That said they are "jai dee" at Nong Khai.

Finally got around to getting a Thai driving licence as repeated calls to the insurance company still left me unsure as to whether an IDP was sufficent. They said it was fine but would not put it in writing.
Anyway when i got the licence,i just showed my UK one and that was sufficient. They did not ask to see the IDP.This was at Nong Khai.I do not know if the guy was having one of those days but it might be worth those without an IDP who want a Thai licence to try Nong Khai.Nothing to lose really.
-
There is always next time though.
-
Harry,i have never missed a reporting day,yet.

The paragraph that scares the sh!t out of me is the one about the South Carolina guy who could not get an "o" visa even though he is married to a Thai. All they would give is a tourist visa?
