  1. Is there any required remaining validity time on the visa when one applies for a re-entry permit at the airport?

For instance, if one has a Non Imm B visa, single entry, and applies for a re-entry permit (at airport, hours before flight out) 6 weeks

before the expiry date ("enter before date" on the visa): is this possible?

Also, should one not get a re-entry permit BEFORE one is stamped out by immigration (when one has a single entry Non Imm B visa)?

(referring to ubonjoe's post that the office to apply for re-entry permit at DM is AFTER the immigration desks,

therefore, after one is stamped out).

    Thanks

  2. I only like real women, but can say that, having seen the follow-up news article, that the ladyboy looks better than his girlfriend.

(I am assuming that the Thai lady in the photograph is his girlfriend)

    That follow-up article also mentions:

"Mr Anuwat alleged that the he became angry after Mr Silvano refused to pay him after the Italian had hired the ladyboy for sex."

Anyway, hope he (the Italian guy) makes a swift recovery.

  3. It is possible to do a transition from one school to another without having to leave the country if you have already found a new school to teach at before your current contract ends.

You extension will end as soon as you are longer working.

They are now asking for a Thai police clearance certificate to get a non-b visa in Vientiane. It can take 3 to 4 weeks to get.

@Ubonjoe.........do they also now require such certificate when applying for new non imm B visa at Savannakhet??

    Yes they do.

I suppose that is for a single entry non imm B visa as well?

And how does one go about obtaining such certificate?

  5. Hi all,

I am looking for information on how to get a Dutch visa/Schengen visa for my Thai girlfriend, and this old thread came closest, so I will post my question here instead of starting a new thread.

    So here goes:

My situation: I am employed in Bangkok with local Thai company, on a work permit, and want to take my Thai girlfriend for a holiday to the Netherlands (which is where I am from).

My Thai girlfriend works as a cashier for a hotel in Bangkok (I will not mention the name, but can say it is not a high-end hotel). She has been working there for over 10 years. She will get a Thai passport soon (first time). I think important to point out is: she can barely speak English.

Now, I have checked the website of the Dutch embassy in Bangkok, and I have checked the website of VFS.Global, the organization that now takes care of the visa applications also for the Dutch embassy. The VFS.Global website does mention some of the documents required, nevertheless, I post here to see if anyone has recently done the same who is in a similar situation as I.

What I want is: we will just go for a 3 week holiday or so starting some time first half of May. So I want, or better, need her, to get a tourist visa from the Dutch embassy, via VFS.Global (I believe they hold office in Sukhumvit 13). I know that an appointment with VFS has to be made and at the time of appointment visit the application and all required documents should be submitted.

What I’d like to know is, from anyone with similar and recent experience: what would be the easiest option to do it and what is all required for that?

As mentioned above, she can barely speak English, and any interview in English (and I understand she would have to do the interview alone) she will not be able to do.

So what are the chances of getting a visa and what is the best way to go about it? Should she apply as a single person without my involvement or should she make mention of me, the Dutch national? Should I get an invitation/sponsor letter from a family member residing in Netherlands?

    Any advice appreciated!

  6. First off, I've spent an hour trying to find this answer on existing threads, but haven't, and my internet connection is very slow today.

This post already took 2 attempts.

So I start this new thread, and it might be helpful for others, newbies, as well.

I have single entry Non Imm B visa and the stamp says "Valid Until: 20 March 2016".

Now, I want to exit Thailand on THAT date, and I just want to make sure that the visa is

in fact still valid on that date, 20 March 2016, and until midnight on that date (although I plan

to exit some time in the afternoon, at land border crossing).

So, if the visa is valid until 20 March, I can exit without problem (i.e. overstay issue) on 20 March?

    Thanks!

  7. I take that shuttle boat on that canal at least a few times per week (weekdays) and usually always stand at

the engine room, mostly next to it. Sometimes I do think if the engine is going to blow or not, especially when

the boat driver revs the engine while reversing to slow down and stop the boat at a pier and to line it up along the pier.

From the pictures, all passengers that stood around the engine room and sat at the rear part, the stern,

    will have been injured.

My girlfriend sometimes takes that boat to work, if she stays in her own room.

She would have been on that boat at that time, except that she stayed in my room last night.

A colleague of hers was on that boat and was slightly injured this morning.

Strangely enough, according to her colleague, 3 people are also missing, but the article does not mention that.

He said there were 37 people injured, plus 2 injured badly, plus 3 people missing.

  8. ^^ thanks for the replies!

I've been to Savannakhet several times already so I know what is needed for me, but I might take my girlfriend this time.

@stoneboy: we will probably only be there 3 days, but hope someone can confirm what you say.

What I am sure of is that the day you enter, even if it is at 6pm, will count as one full day already.

So if the time limit is 3 days, entering on Sunday evening will mean having to exit no later than Tuesday evening,

which is not actually being in-country 3 full days (i.e. 72 hours).

Hope someone can confirm this time limit.

    Thanks!

  9. Perhaps this is addressed in some other thread, but I could not immediately find it, so I start a new thread

(also to get more current information).

Can a Thai national easily enter Laos, across land border, on only an ID card?

And what does a Thai need, besides the ID card, if the plan is to just spend a few days in Laos?

More specific: I might take my girlfriend with me when I go for a new visa in Savannakhet, Laos,

staying there 2-3 days. Can she just enter on Thai ID card (she does not have a passport)?

    Thanks!

  10. "According to his wife, Khun Saradar aged 24, it was a chance encounter that led to the shooting and she revealed that he had been in a relationship with the victim before he was sent to prison for 4 years on drug convictions. She had been married to the shooter for 1 year but had not told the victim of her new relationship."

Typo? Or was the shooter in a relationship with the victim, before he (victim, I presume) was sent to prison?

So the woman in question is the one in the photo holding up the marriage certificate.

    All this over that?

  11. Maybe the amount of water spillage during the 3-day Songkhran period will not affect the nation's overall water supply

and maybe it will not much affect the areas that have water..........but.......it will sure be hard on the drought hit areas where

there is no water or not enough water, where the people, especially the farmers, have to do without or with little water....

to see the water festivities going on elsewhere in Thailand.

You know, unity and solidarity and all that.

  12. From the linked article in OP:

""The first we heard about it was when his girlfriend called us on February 4 to say he was in hospital in quite a serious condition."

Her sister Katy is a nurse and asked doctors in Thailand to send over brain scans to her colleagues at Dorset County Hospital, where they found he was at risk of suffering a blood clot in his brain.

Mr Holmes returned to hospital on Friday and had surgery to relieve the pressure on his brain.

His children Amanda, Katy, Joanna and Andy are having to deal with mounting hospital bills as his insurance only covers £1,400 worth of treatment and the surgery cost £10,000 - with each day in hospital £600.

Mrs Hunt, 37, said: "We began to get really worried when we spoke to dad on the phone and couldn't get much sense out of him.

"So we contacted a friend who is in Thailand on holiday.

"He visited our dad and was straight away concerned that he should be at hospital because he was suffering with a lot of pain and severely dehydrated as well as being very confused and not knowing who people are."

So what is the GBP doing these days?

    GBP 600 per day.....steep.
