  1. we al double park and screw up traffic when you take a taxi , he stops (double parks) where you want to go and it takes a minute or 2 as you pay him and get out and he stops for his next fare ( another double park)

so a minute here and there backs up traffic 10-20 cars behind the taxi.....

How to solve this ......ummm....really no way because we are all too lazy to stop the taxi at an open spot or side street.....

I want it and I want it now

I don't know how you do it, but I am always out, with any bags, in under 10-15 seconds. It's called....planning: watch the meter, have the fare ready in one hand, bags in another,

don't wait for 2-3 baht change.

It's like standing in line at a McDonald's: decide on your order while you are waiting in line, not when it becomes your turn to order.

  2. How did they stumble on the bodies?,you very rarely get anywhere

near the full stories,on news reports here.

    regards worgeordie

"How did they stumble on the bodies?"

Even if it was off the beaten path, a bunch of people digging a two metre deep hole and then filling it back in again would take some time and almost certainly be observed by someone.

"very rarely get anywhere near the full stories,on news reports here"

Fortunately an absence of facts rarely impedes the production of speculative assumptions here at TV.

Actually, the article explains that the police were able to establish that the kidnappers used a rented pick up truck.

The police were then able to locate the pick up truck, and found it is equipped with GPS tracking.

They then checked the GPS tracking data and found the route the truck had driven, and that it had stopped for 2 hours at a certain point.

They then went to check at that location, looked around, and noticed that there was fresh soil, that gave the appearance that

soil had been very recently been dug up. They then started to dig....and eventually stumbled upon the corpse.

The article does indeed not explain how the police were able to determine that the pick up truck was a rental and from

what car rental shop. But this is probably from eyewitness accounts, that state eyewitnesses saw the name of the car rental company on the truck.

  3. Why does the OP complain about the one good point of Thailand? Namely, the increased chances to get with

a girl/woman you want to do even though she is taken.

Also, why did OP spent over 4 M baht in 4 years on “just” a girlfriend?

The OP’s story also shows that those that always advice to pick a normal girl, an office girl, a girl that works in a department store,

or at Swensen’s…….don’t know what they are talking about.

Anyway, as a more serious response: OP first needs to learn to differentiate between “normal” and “common occurrence”…….these two are not the same.

Although many girls (and even more guys) do what the OP’s girlfriend did, sorry…ex girlfriend did, it is not “normal” and there are many girls that will not do that.

When she said "no, he is in his county and not come much, so it's ok"…the OP should have already known what time it was,

since OP himself “is in his country and not come much”.

To answer the OP’s question: yes, it does happen to others, many others. But I am sure that the girls get cheated on more than the guys.

  4. A few days ago there was a news article titled "Two farangs drugged and robbed by two women in Chiang Mai".

One of those two women was 50 years old.

I commented on that article and, looking at the photo of the two women in this news article here, I can comment the same here:

    were the victims that drunk?

To add: and if they were not that drunk......were they that desperate then?

  5. ^^

Valid point, however, my question on this forum was not "Where can I get an answer to this <fill in> question?", my question on this

forum is "Can anyone on this forum answer this question: can a double entry tourist visa be converted to a Non Imm B visa, within Thailand, if one has a valid work permit???".

And I was looking forward to a positive answer.

I know I can approach a government call center for my question, but I choose to seek an answer within a forum, hence my posting here.

But thanks for your input (although it was useless regards my actual question).

  6. My work permit was supposed to expire last July 7 and my visa last Aug 12. barely 2 weeks left before my wp expires, Our HR went to Ministry of Labour at Din Daeng to renew it with complete documents. After 7 days I got my new work permit. After that, together with our HR Again, we went to Immigration at Chaeng Wattana to extend again my visa for 1 year. My point here is that, if you already have work permit no need to apply again for non b.

I was on a Non Imm O visa <marriage> (not an extension) that had already expired in June, and I was on my last 90 days permission to stay (I did a border exit/entry just 2 days

before that visa expired in June) that will expire on 18th September 2015 (tomorrow). I don't think I could have gotten an extension of stay (also because I have already gotten

divorced, so the grounds for that, already expired, Non Imm O visa are no longer).

Now I am on a double entry tourist visa.

I now understand that we, the company and I, basically have to apply for new work permit (current WP expires on 14th October 2015), and that the receipt that we will get

when submitting the paperwork for the work permit is that 'letter' that I need, that the IO was referring to, to submit with my Non Imm B application.

Perhaps a redundant question, but: can a double entry tourist visa be converted to a Non Imm B visa, within Thailand, if one has a valid work permit???

  7. I asked the officer about it when I picked up my passport, and it is the Letter of Approval from the MoL. The reason I need this letter is that, even though I already have a work permit, it expires next month, whereas the visa would be for the next 3 months. This is why just having the work permit was not enough.

I must say that I had noted this detail in another

thread where I asked about required documents,

but none of the respondents had picked up on that.

I any case, thanks for the replies.

The thread will surely be of use to others also.

    Cheers!

  8. I went to the Thai Consulate in Savannakhet today to apply for a Non Imm B visa.

After the officer had gone through all the documents I submitted, he said that the paperwork was missing a

Kor Sor 3 or Sor Kor 3 document.

I am, now, not exactly sure what document he mentioned, could also have been Tor Kor 3 or Kor Tor 3.

In any case, it is a document related to the company through which I am applying.

I let my manager know and mentioned Tor Kor 3/Kor Tor 3 to him.

He called me and told me he is not familiar with any such document.

Again, maybe I remember incorrectly what the officer said.

Now, my question is: can anyone help and tell what document, that has to do with the company, the officer probably meant????

    Is it:

    4. Original Letter of approval from the ministry of Labour (ต.ท.3) ??????

FYI: I had given the staff at the company a list of required documents as taken from the website of this consulate.

To the best of my knowledge, the staff had been able to prepare all the documents as listen on that website.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

As an aside: as most know the consulate has moved to a new location.

I don't know if it was because today was Monday, but it was very very crowded; at least over 500 people, mostly Laotians.

The queue ran all the way outside the consulate.

I, and most others, spent at least 90 minutes before getting to the counter.

As my luck (not) went, they did not want to process my non imm B application and said I should apply for tourist visa instead,

so I had time to get the documents sorted. Unfortunately this also meant I had to get back at the queue again.

I spent 3 (!) in total waiting, standing in a queue. I got there at about 09:45.

So for anyone going: get there early.

  9. Thanks for the reply.

I had already seen the information on that link, it does indeed not mention that a contract is required.

However, another website did mention this requirement.

Anyway, just in case, we will draft a contract, should it be requested then I will have it.

Re the pro forma contract: this was indeed submitted at the time of first WP application.

    Thanks again for the reply!

  10. I had posted this question earlier at an existing thread, but got no replies, so I am trying this with a new thread.

I plan to apply for a non Imm B visa at Savannakhet, Laos and would like to know the following:

If one has all the required documents (including the company documents, employment form, company request/invitation letters), and I take my original

work permit with me as well (which expires mid-October next), do I absolutely still need to show/submit an employment contract, or not??

For background: I've been working with this company for almost 3 years, and will continue, with next work permit extension due next month.

Up until now I had a non imm O visa (based on marriage to Thai, not an extension of stay !), now I will apply for a non imm B visa.

The company does not normally issue employment contracts, so there is no actual contract.

My manager could however draft a letter confirming the employment (although this is also already apparent from the company invitation letter)

or we could just draft a contract still. However, before doing this, I would like to know if I will NEED to submit an employment

contract with my visa application or not.

Any advice welcome, thanks in advance!

  11. Just another question: if one has all the required documents (including the company documents, employment form, company request/invitation letters), and I take my original

work permit with me as well (which expires mid-October), do I absolutely still need to show/submit an employment contract, or not??
