  1. Its a similar thing to those that moan about street parties, I just rock up with a couple of bottles of Johnnie Walker and the misses, plonk my arse down and join in. Met some really nice people this way.

Think you will find they are more interested in making friends

with Mr Johnnie than with you.....

  2. I meet my wife in BKK. After 3 years in BKK I had enough of the Big Mango and told my then GF (wife now) that I want to move to Pattaya. First she didn't like the idea at all but after a couple of visits she kind of got used to it and liked the beach scenes very much.

We now live in our second house in the outskirts (Naklua) of Pattaya, have a lovely son and life is goodsmile.png.

I don't think I could live in a small town, I like the buzz here in fun town and keep my Villy in the pants, if you don't respect and thrust each other, marriage is worthless.

I forgot to mention that my wife speaks very good English so communication is not a problem.

OP you could consider on-line dating.

If you can't "thrust" your wife, who can you "thrust"?

  3. Nice post and in some respects a brave post, to admit you want to

    break out of the mould.

Think a lot of it is to do with mindset, you look on every woman in

Pattaya as a hooker and you think they look on you as a walking

    ATM.....game set and match.

I went through the same process some years ago, desperate to

meet a straightforward Thai woman. It happened without me

realising when I got friendly with a girl who worked in a large

Bangkok hotel, she suggested on my next visit we could

perhaps go away together....talk about knock me over with a

    feather.

End story, we have now been married for five years.

Yes, there are nice girls out there.... even in Pattaya.

So you met her only the once and then she suggested that you go away together...yea she sounds like a real 'nice' girl...ha ha.

No, I got to know her over several visits - sure they are your sprogs,

those nurses get pretty frisky on night shift.

  4. thanks stingray/dick. Taken on board. I do think the warrenty will transfer with the car as will the insurance etc. If not, then that'll be a factor to take into account.

They will both transfer, but my point was that you will have

taken up six months worth of both, unlike on a new motor.

Assume you are talking about the 1.5 which is selling well

because it falls within the government rebate scheme, but

by the same token that means Somchai has to buy a new

    motor to qualify.

If you or you wife are in Thailand suggest you go and have

a chat with the Ford showroom, they might come up with a

suggestion to resolve. It might help if you could pay off the

finance, that at least would get you three years interest

back, then go for a cash sale..

  5. Since you are supposed to carry your passport as ID whilst you are in LOS

how are you supposed to manage whilst it is "in the post" to Hongkong?

The FCO are aware of this and so applicants in Thailand keep their old passport.

Pretty much the same procedure as you describe, I believe.

......He is a mod and does no know this simple fact?.

By the way reference to use of your local vicar was a joke.....sense of

    humour bypass methinks

  6. Daffy - If you live out in the sticks DHL will forward onto you

by local EMS, you still have to make the trip to the DHL

office for the outgoing dispatch. They are very efficient,

even insisting on checking my docs to make sure I had

    included everything.

Even if you do not have supporting docs to be returned

from HK they will still send just a receipt by courier, its all

included in their very "reasonable" charges. Its supposedly

timed so that you should receive your passport and receipt

    at the same time.

Its a half barmy system, but it does work.

And yes one of the photos has to be endorsed
