  1. I go to Vietnam every year. I haven't found any decent Viet food in Pattaya, or BKK for that matter.

There just ain't any Viets here. Don't expect Thais to do it right.

The Saigon Bistro on the 6th floor of Central now has a daily all you can eat menu for 200 baht net including drinks/dessert. From 2-6pm.

The salad rolls and BBQ pork sandwiches were eaten in multiples. I would recommend skipping the soups if into buffet.

  2. Sailing: don;t forget the Sailing . . . . . .

I've been here and have been sailing here for about 20 years now and I can tell you that THIS never bores . . . the sea is ever-changing and the short-distance destinations are more than plenty !

The sailing here is magnificent !

That is a VERY good point and you are correct. Nothing beats sailing around to the local islands, cooler of beer, a few acoustic guitars and dark shades. thumbsup.gif

How to get into this please?

I though that we were building ... Ramayana Water Park began construction in March 2555 on Na Jomtien Pattaya projects worth over 1000 million to complete. And open to the public early in 2556, this project aims to deliver a world-class guests, visitors and foreigners from Thailand, including those who live in the area and the people in Bangkok who are looking for vacation attractions. new.

This project has been designed and built with international standards. The first phase will be built on an area of 160,000 sqm., In the water park will feature the latest version of all the excitement and for everyone in the family will be able to cater for more than 10,000 people a day along the interior garden. </span>Water tells the story of the Ramayana is divided into seven different zones under an atmosphere of serenity and natural beauty.</span>

  4. Have you thought about asking if you can bring your own pedestal fan with extension? I used to do this at a gym in the Philippines. They let me store it there.

I do like this new gym and wish it was closer. The market across the street is a nice plus.

Been going to the market since day 1 in Pattaya. Anyone who has been there knows you park wherever you can. This evening, I parked a few meters from the steps of Tony's gym so as not to obstruct the entrance and Tony's security asked me to move.

This has most definitely gone off topic, why is it allowed to continue? Everybody knows why they have closed their doors.

Discussion of CaWow alternatives is on topic.

  5. As an aside, there were 2 of his rovers running around the market trying to get people into the music club. 1 was African American and the other Middle Eastern. Both were overly aggressive and annoying (think beach road tailors "how are you, my friend?"). They're probably doing great things with their persistence on Walking Street but not appreciated when doing some late night shopping in the market.

  6. I went to Tony's Buakow location tonight for a peek. The annual membership is 5000 baht which is very reasonable while waiting for an alternative. It's open 24 hours so I could easily train after sunset. At 21:00, there were so few people there and the market is right there for post training snacks. The gym is just fine for me.

There's also a live music bar with Tony himself and Graham Peter Sears on bass from his 3rd road location playing live music. They were onstage when I passed by earlier.

I think I'll join this week.

Before you join for a year, I would recommend you try a few 99 baht casual workouts first. Better be safe than sorry - you never know until you get in there and train if you're going to like it or not.

Oh for sure. I'll try to sneak a camera in, if possible.

  8. It's long known by *some* that the beach is not safe at night and you only need to read crime news archives to see that foreigners are often targets in very violent assaults. While they're are some volunteer tourist police roaming, they cannot be everywhere and I've heard they go home after a few hours anyway. That leaves opportunists many dark hours to make some money from an unsuspecting tourist. Sad but true.

An American friend of mine was involved with a Thai woman and when they broke things off, her real boyfriend attacked the American on the beach in anger over his income being cut off! Amazing Thailand!

It's safe to say, the reason you don't see regular Thais walking on the beach at night is because they know better. Nothing good can come from a beach road walk at night although some of my friends do it every night without any incident.

  9. Cathy211 - Whether Jimmy is there or not this is a request for book/mags/CDs/DVDs for the stall.

    Thanks

Reality check: If people knew in advance that JP would be present (as he seems to be every year), tickets and attendance for the charity gala and the fair, donations, stall rentals, etc. would surely sky rocket from fans around the world wishing to rub elbows with JP.

But I'm well aware you prefer not to announce his attendance publicly for perhaps security reasons and/or you may not truly know (wink).

So for argument's sake, I'll assume JP will be in attendance. Wishing Jesters a good fund raiser.

  10. Hey guys. Any news? Did they reopen? I seriously need to start again. My blood sugar has gone up again. My lower back is killing me. And I start to look bigger at my wife's eyes...

I do a daily bicycle ride to the lighthouse and then hike up Pratamnak hill to the lookout. Welcome to join for a good sweat.

  11. How many members your group exist of yet?

I didn't count but a few Thais and a few foreigners. Less than 10 people I think.

Thanks Cathy, but my question was with actual tv members in mind.Have any tv members joined yet, as I see that there were some responses earliert in the thread.

Yes there are some TV members and some from word of mouth, friends of friends, badminton club, etc. Thai and foreigners all with 1 goal: to climb the hill! Today we will meet at 16:00 at the light house and play badminton on the top (above the Pattaya City sign). Hope to see you there!

  12. Wonder how they'll handle the parking situation? When CaWow gym was open, there was already a deficit. As a motorbike driver, I have never seen the upper indoor levels. Are they open to motorbikes too?

Sod the skating rink rumor then...haha.

  13. Signage indicates there will be a pool hall and an entertainment complex. The sidewalk bordering Villa Market has some newly laid grass (or Astroturf?). Lots of space being made on other floors. Watch this space for updates!

  14. Naklua 25 has a Catholic school which offers free courses. Fountain of Life.

    agree 100%

the Fountain of Life is great place of learning without having religion thrust down your throat

they also offer computer skills and other skills

i think they charge 50 baht a month admin fees

They also teach massage. 2 female students massaging those willing to give their body in the name of education for 100 baht. Used to be 50 baht for a very long time.
