  1. I’m out of shape but I enjoy a good walk and one of my favorite places to walk is up the Pratumnak hill starting from the lighthouse past Walking Street and past the boat yard. There are steps and then a good incline. At the top, there’s a café. I used to do this walk every 2nd day and it does get easier.

Would this interest anyone to meet as a group and do the hill climb together? The paths are well maintained and cool. There are very few people up on the hill so it’s clean and quiet with nice views.

We pass over the Pattaya City sign and rest often. If we want, we can go up to the big Buddha.

We can meet at the lighthouse every 2nd day. What time would you like? All ages and fitness levels welcome. Good chance to meet some like minded people who want to get out, walk, and meet new people.

    08:30-10:30?

    10:30-12:30?

    12:30-2:30?

    etc.

  2. Ode to a long time Pattaya resident and good mate to many here:

    http://bangkokjungle.com/2011/09/25/big-chief-billy-cuthbertson-is-gone-but-not-forgotten/

wsc.jpg?w=112&h=150Word reaches us belatedly that sadly Big Chief Billy Cuthbertson has passed. He was a rock and roll star known throughout Australia and Asia for his ability to make any band swing when he had that golden Fender bass in his hands and the tune in his head. Billy starred with the likes of Wolf Mail, Memphis Mike, Eugene ‘Hideaway’ Bridges and Glenn Patrik to name but a few, and was working on his new instructional video “There Ain’t No Money Past the Fifth Fret”. RIP Maestro…

  3. Join the Pattaya expats club for 600 baht lifetime. Then can use the gym/pool at Mercure hotel free.

    What's the gym like?

Full of women bending over in tiny shorts. Don't drop your weights!

Allow me to rephrase. You suggested the Mecure gym, so I'm asking you what equipment they have.

Not been yet. Only heard about this option an hour ago and it's 23:00 now.

  4. Situated next to Fuji on 2nd road, I ordered (based on the recommendations read on Thai Visa) the squid in salted egg and a shrimp in chili paste with steamed rice. Total 300 baht.

Good value in this clean air conditioned restaurant. On arrival, all 12 tables were occupied. Photos of interior/exterior/menu/my foods.

  5. There's only 1 place that's a "sure thing" every time and that's affectionately known as the Hole In The Wall on soi Buakow. It is a no name little Thai joint opp. Sugar Sugar a gogo. All dishes are in large quantity with a big plate of rice and free water. I've dined there hundreds of times without ever having 1 bad meal. Open 24 hours.

  6. I think I'll move back to Pattaya from Bkk. To get from Pats to Bkk, I took the bus and put my bicycle on the bus. Getting the bike from the bus station was a tuk tuk for 200 baht. All included, it might just be easier to get a driver/taxi if the price is right. Public or private messages welcomed. Thank you!!

  7. Only fold bikes on BTS/MRT. I asked today.

Cycling on main streets is death defying. The buses are a-holes.

So my problem is getting to Lumpini park to ride in peace!
