  1. The fees for the British Club are here, it's nice there and whilst I think the prices for food and beverages are good value, the membership fees are quite high. You really need to use all the facilities on a regular basis to get value.

I agree which is why I'm a little surprised there's not a pay as you go scheme like in Pattaya. ie: Starting at 90 baht per visit for unlimited fruit and juice/water is good value.

  2. I've lived in all parts of Pattaya including the raucous Walking Street. Jomtien, if you have a good companion, would be a nice place for me BUT I love eating at the malls in central Pattaya. That in addition to the gym, movies, etc.

Living in Jomtien always meant going over the hill or by Sukhumvit and I find both dangerous.

  3. British Club is open to most expats

Thank you for all your replies. As it's now Sunday morning, hundreds of Pattaya expats are gearing up for one of the weekly meetings. In all cases, there are updated websites and it's quite a slick production with a buffet. For whatever reason, nothing similar as of yet in Bkk but I do note that the British Club has an almost daily event of some sort. Although there is an unpublished membership cost on their site:

  4. I've just booked into the Rinya House which seems to get very good reviews. I'll let you know later what's it's like.

Today poked my head into a few of those Lengkee guesthouses. I'm an expat and know the entire city/darkside/Jomtien/Naklua areas and I felt there were a few opp. Vogue hotel that are better value because they're quieter. Lengkee though is not a walking friendly street in my opinion and I've decided I wouldn't want to live there.

  5. soi Lenkee is b/n 3rd and Buakow. There are dozens of new hotels and guesthouses. I've asked friends for recommendations and the top pick is consistently China Garden guesthouse. Anyone with other recommendations? Thank you.

  6. About 80 arrested...

Just chatting to my lady on-line, and she has just left the police station after checking why one of our staff has been held after the soi 6 raid. She says that literally dozens of girls being held, mostly for drugs, and many underage.

As per typical Thailand, they have raided soi 6, rounded up many girls who may have drug issues, but FORGOT to inform the police doctors, hence they can only start proper checks from 11 tomorrow morning. All of the girls will be held until then so Soi 6 will be a little light on staff tomorrow.

My girl says there are about 80 girls being held, and will all be checked tomorrow, but I dont know if this will affect the bar owners, or just the girls.

I am guessing if underage, then the owners will have a problem, but if drugs, its down to the girls.
