  1. Last month My Thai gf and I exited the MoChit station and went to the motorbike taxi stand where there was a price list displaying a charge of 200 THb to go to immigration. That would be a charge of 400 Thb each way as they would carry only one passenger each. Further up the street there were a few metred taxis who said it would be between 100 to 120 for the trip. We went there and returned for 100 each way which is quarter of the taxi bike fare.Go figure!

  2. I was in a bar with my Thai partner lately and she made a strange but true statement about how Thai women don't seem to put much effort into looking well when they have landed a falang husband. One look around the bar varified her statement and even worse when I see Thai birds married to guys back home in Ireland.I think a lot of them look more like ex-taxi bikers than ex ''bargirls'' that ''never worked in a bar''

  3. Thailand has returned to normal and is ready for renewed visits of foreign tourists and investors,

Unfortunately, murders, rapes robberies, boat crashes, scams, corrupt cops and officials ect ect ect. I cant say it has "returned" to normal, I dont believe anything really changed, to "return" it to normal. The only thing that is different is there have not been political rallies, but that will soon return to normal.

    Etcetera........etc.etc.etc.

  4. No idea as I hardly ever use them now, but it's long amazed me that it's stayed at 10 Baht for so long when you think what's happened to the oil price in that time. The only increase I'm aware of in the last 10 years was when they stopped charging Thais 5 Baht and demanded 10 Baht from them as well. To be honest I would be quite happy to pay 20 Baht if I used them regularly. I'm sure Jingthing will have something to say on the subject.

That's a lot to say for someone who hardly ever uses them!

    THAI denies pilot resignation reports

    The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Thai Airways International Executive Vice President Athisak Padchuenjai on Monday denied the reports that some 200 pilots have tendered resignation.

At a press conference, he said no resignation has been received yet.

He said that each year, some pilots resign but that is normal and does not damage the company’s operations. Each year, new pilots are also recruited.

Athisak noted that pilots are in high demand in the aviation industry. This may have spurred the reports.

Media reports yesterday said that these pilots resigned en masse on worries of the company’s finances. In the first half of this year, the airline showed over Bt10 billion in net loss. The outlook is not bright given fiercer competition in the industry, led mainly by low-cost airlines.

As of August, THAI employs 1,350 pilots.
