  1. I don’t know why but in my experience I have found the price of a ticket from Australia to Thailand return has always been cheaper than the reverse of Thailand to Australia. Most recent price I looked at for THAI was about $1200+AUD. This was for flights out of Melbourne in September returning in November. Earlier this year on another carrier the one way fare BKK to Melbourne was more expensive than the return flight departing from Melbourne. Why is it so? Anyone able to explain?

  3. Predates covid. And twice as bad.
  4. Or in this case the Durian. And it stinks
  5. I feel charges for slander are about to be lodged.
  6. What a circus with the ruling elite ringmasters pulling out all stops to maintain the status quo. I just hope the Khama gods respond in kind when they all turn up their toes. It’s the only chance there will be of bringing them to justice because there will be no justice on offer for these carbuncles under the current regime.
  7. The charge will be for being a threat to military dictatorship although the wording may be a little different
  8. True that. They won the vote now let the people get the government they voted for. If they are no good then vote them out next time. Socialist or not they have been elected. Let the will of the people prevail. Socialism is only a dirty word to some people.
  9. I’ve instructed my kids to hit me in the head with a sledgehammer if I should ever wear sandals and socks.
  10. A festering, pus ridden sore that needs to be addressed but never will.
  11. It’ll only happen if the military allows it to happen.
  12. The army’s new secret weapon. Buy every opposition candidate a few shares unbeknown to them and Hey Presto not a chance in hell of ever being deposed. Shameful, especially when they are the rulers of all forms of media.
  13. Back to Zero Baht tourism coupled to a resurgence in Chinese underworld crime. The place is on the up and up.
  14. If this is interference then what do you call the military’s appointment of 250 senators whose sole purpose is to undermine the will of the people?
  15. Right or wrong this is a ploy to steer the election result to exactly where it was prior to the election. I'm surprised that anyone thought there was ever a chance of change. Perhaps we were all just hoping against hope that this time it might be different? MFP can claim a moral victory but when you look at what happens in all of Thailand's neighbours (bar Malaysia) there are lots of role models of military dominance with no appetite for democracy. Thailand is just fitting in. RIP Thailand you are being strangled to death and nothing short of a full civil war will reverse it and we know who has the bigger pistola if it ever came to that. It will make good news headlines around the world but, as in Myanmar, blood will flow in the streets and nothing good will come of it. Revolt will only tighten the military's blood thirsty grip on power. So sad, so wrong and so predictable.
  16. Money talks which makes the numbers to form a majority very rubbery.
  17. Nothing will happen without the blessing of the military and their 250 appointed senators are already flexing their collective muscles. It’s hard to see any change under these circumstances and things have probably gotten worse for the average citizen. Hard to see the generals backing down.
  18. Oxygen thieves and 250 wasted skins.
  19. Best case scenario is we end up with a quasi-democratically elected government but until the 250 senate seats allotment is abolished we will never see true democracy. No government can deliver to the people whilst the true power is still in the hands of the corrupt military and their cronies. I can't see anything but a very rocky road ahead.
  20. Convicted by an illegal, illegitimate regime. Surely there's got to be a legal loophole somewhere.
  21. I’ve never been challenged with a one way ticket. Most recently when I flew in at a the end of last year. Didn’t have a visa. Got my 45 day stay on arrival and then extended another month at immigration. Back to 30 days now if I’m not mistaken. Maybe I’ve been lucky
  22. I agree. Never lived there but have always enjoyed myself on each of 5 or 6 times I passed through. Close to Laos, has a decent airport and easy access to trains and bus transport.
