    2. Does my insurance have to be a COVID-19 insurance in order to register with Thailand Pass?

The English used in that sentence is a bit vague and ungrammatical. I think they are trying to say the following:

    2. Does my insurance have to be a special policy that only covers COVID-19?

No. You can also use general insurance or health insurance with a minimum coverage of 50,000 USD, provided that it specifically includes COVID-19 coverage.

Now, here's my quandary - You have to take a Covid test and show you're negative to board a plane. What use is another test after getting off the plane other than to generate revenue for the people performing the test? Did I suddenly get Covid from any of the OTHER passengers who ALSO tested negative?

    What you say makes sense.

However, there have been various news reports about fake covid test results being sold to would-be travellers. Thailand probably doesn't entirely trust people to provide their own test results.

If Thailand manage to attract half a million tourists this high season without "foreign covid" decimating the country, they will probably summon the nerve to open up completely.

Another pathetic example of the overwhelming generosity of the Thai government when foreigners bring a lot of money into the country ! A crappy little basket of Thai goods. Bet they still want them all to pay tax !

What did you have in mind? A supercar? An elephant? Some gold bars?

That’s nice, but what do all the ordinary schmoes who spend their hard-earned dough in the sandbox get? A poke in the eye with a sharp stick?

BTW, I wonder if ol’ Russell had to apply for a COE and do time in an ASQ hotel?

Yes, he did 14 days in the Phuket Sandbox. I imagine somebody else filled in the visa paperwork for the cast and crew.

Well very few are going to do it that way around from any country. Visa could be declined for any amount of reasons or delays. People are simply not going to book a fully refundable flight direct from the airline at 2-3 times an agents fare

Just prior to typing that BA came in at £1869 economy fare (fully refundable direct from airline) as opposed to consolidated non refundable at £565

There's some airlines that  advertise "no change fees" for all their tickets including economy, like Qatar and Emirates. Make sure you book directly from the airline, the ticket may be slightly more expensive, but well worth it if you need to change.

    Example:

    Qatar

    Heathrow - Phuket:

    £510 from agency

    £564 direct with airline

    From Qatar's website:

Double check the "no change fees" policy is still in force before you book your ticket ????

Remember.......there's the insurance catch. Their insurance catch.

Yes, it's quite likely that they will stipulate or encourage the use of Thai insurance companies.

Thai Embassies have been accepting the use of the Emirates free "Thai covid" policy up until now for people applying for their CoE, and other people have had their own domestic policies accepted (in some cases). But most people bought one of the Thai policies.

After 1st of November, who knows.

It appears that many don't comprehend vague rhetoric terribly well.

1 or 2. It's a long time since I studied maths, but that would suggest an upper limit of 2 to me. What is vague about that?

Perhaps you don't think it's worth pointing out when a politician makes a promise that they don't deliver on?

General Supot Malaniyom from the CCSA’s operations center revealed today to the press that the details of the plan to open the country to fully vaccinated tourists without mandatory quarantine, according to the Prime Minister’s policy, will be announced at a major CCSA meeting within 1-2 days from today, October 18th, 2021.

Well, it's Wednesday. That's 2 days. Will they be making an announcement later tonight?

    Thanks for nothing.

These types of things don't require legislative approval, especially when most everything is ruled upon by decree.

Cheers for the clarification. Many posters talk about decisions being "published in the Gazette" as meaning that they have taken effect - I'm hoping that this happens soon with regards to Thailand's reopening plans.

Too late - I already booked my flight for November 12 and applied for a COE (waiting for final approval at present.)

The million dollar question no one seems to be able to answer is “will I be able to use my COE (issued in October) to enter in November?”

I suspect that you will. The CoE will still be used in certain cases. One Thai newspaper says:

The MFA is expected to start rolling out Thailand Pass in replacement of the current Certificate of Entry (CoE) requirement from 1 November. The CoE will still be required at this stage for medical tourism visitors, land border arrivals, and group arrivals such as cruise ship passengers.

And anyway you managed to make a pointless post. Great job!

Why would go on about that. I wouldn´t have done if Professor Phuket just been leaving an opinion like I did from start. Better post your opinion instead.

Apparently, you think that anybody with any real knowledge on a subject is a "Professor". Perhaps Gottfrid is a "Professor of Emptying Bins" or a "Professor of Cleaning Toilets". ????
