If fully vaccinated a trip to India, Goa for example, will save you money and add to your culture when coming back to the UK...
A holiday in India might not be so bad, to be fair to them their current reported infection rates are (surprisingly) much lower than Thailand and the UK.
10 days in Dubai or France could be a good choice for the less adventurous.

Think they put the price up to 2825 GBP a few weeks back and you must pay in advance of departure for a compulsory met at the airport whisked off to an awful without any choice hotel for quarantine 10 days then dumped back at the airport.
Even though the vaccine roll out is happening they have made this change, clearly they know that the slightly declining official covid numbers are obviously fudged and part of the Juntas denial and delusion package and the new Thailand moves on into the abyss program.
Nope, £2,285.
QuoteHow much you’ll need to pay
Rate 1 adult in 1 room for 10 days (11 nights) £2,285 Additional rate for 1 adult (or child over 11) £1,430 Additional rate for a child aged 5 to 11 £325 https://www.gov.uk/guidance/booking-and-staying-in-a-quarantine-hotel-when-you-arrive-in-england

If you leave Thailand and go to a green/amber country for 10 days, you don't have to do hotel quarantine.
So spending 10 days in India, Nigeria or Iraq will make it safe for you to return to the UK ????

I really do doubt it.
It must be galling to waste your undoubted genius on us dullards. Few here if any can rival your mastery of the florid monologue.
The only posters I can think of that are as prolific and inexorable as you would be the likes of BigStar and Jsixpack. To witness you exchanging words with those titans of wordsmithery would be glorious indeed.

GammaGlobulin, us mere mortals cannot hope to match your gift of creating delicately-crafted prose. Only through mockery born of envy can we salvage our egos in the face of such an overwhelming literary talent as yours ????

they have these requirements in place becasue the reality is, despite what the TAT say, they dont want large numbers of people visiting thailand. if you follow the news the hospitals and health service are already struggling to deal with those infected, if they open the borders without widespread vaccination of the local population the health service will crash.
underneath all this bluster and over expectation thay actually do know what they are doing.
2 months ago, you might have been correct. Now Thailand's "covid deaths per million people" figure is higher than most Western countries.
"Opening the borders" now would make zero difference. The local population are more likely to catch covid from their next-door neighbour than from a vaccinated foreigner.

"61 million doses of AZ bought by Thailand" has been announced numerous times this year.
This was back in January:
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-01-16/how-thailand-got-caught-out-by-covid-19-second-wave/13017336
If Thailand can persuade AZ to sell some European-manufactured doses, the 61 million figure could in theory be possible.

That's unfortunate, but helping to run a chicken stand isn't really the same as volunteering at a charitable organisation. Also, aren't you referring to this news story? The German in question was wanted by Interpol for numerous crimes - he wasn't deported due to his BBQ chicken skills.

Alas, he needs a specific visa to volunteer, or he will get deported if caught. Remember where we're living dear reader.
Has anyone ever actually been deported for doing volunteer work? I've never heard of this happening. Perhaps you could post a link to a relevant news story?
"You'll get deported if you do anything helpful" is a classic Thaivisa meme, with no basis in fact. It's simply not true.

Some on this forum love to pull up the ladder behind them, when they themselves are already in Thailand. They will spend hours rubbishing the sandbox, demanding that borders stay closed, and generally trying to put people off coming to Thailand.

It would make far more sense for Thailand to pay for the 3 PCR tests and the "Thai covid insurance", if they genuinely want to attract more tourists. That would only cost them £200 or so.
UK quarantine currently costs £2,285 per person.

Thailand's rich history of inventions is a matter of public record. Just look at their wikipedia entry:

The Bank of Thailand are generally highly competent, perhaps more so than some other Thai institutions ???? They have done a solid job with the economy and the Thai Baht since the 1997 financial crisis. They don't come out with statements very often, but their advice is usually worth listening to.
Thanks to the BOT's financial sobriety, Thailand can borrow the same way the US and other major economies do - large scale issuing of government bonds. Many economists support this position:

So far as I know, most Thai charities are still accepting volunteers. Yes, you will have to wear a mask and socially-distance. With little donation money coming in, a lot of Thai charities are feeling the pain. Several organizations help distribute food to poor people affected by covid. Helping at one of those would be a positive step towards fighting covid.

Apart from the wife issues, it sounds like you need a sense of purpose in your life. Have you considered doing some volunteering?
If you spent some time helping a local charity, for example, I guarantee that you would quickly have a circle of friends, Thai and foreign. When your wife sees you getting out of the house more and meeting new people, she might look at you a little differently.

QuoteThe Center for Economic Situation Administration’s (CESA) Spokesman Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, said today that Phuket has welcomed some 20,000 international visitors since the start of the Phuket Sandbox campaign on 1st July, leading to 371,826 night bookings at hotels in Q3, 2021.

Get rid of the rip-off "Thai COVID insurance".
So far 20,000 people have been forced to purchase this policy. Has a single claim been made yet? Has even one vaccinated tourist been hospitalized?
Assuming 20,000 people paid an average of 5,000 baht each, that's 100 million baht spent on policies that have probably paid out zero baht. Ca-ching!

England adds Thailand and Montenegro to travel red list
in Thailand News

Really? Anyone trying this would surely do some research before booking their tickets and travelling.
For instance:
https://www.diplomatie.gouv.fr/en/coming-to-france/coronavirus-advice-for-foreign-nationals-in-france/#sommaire_1
France is on the amber list, so staying there for 10 days will mean that hotel quarantine is no longer required.
