It's just great to see that aseannow.com is keeping on top of all the exiting breaking news from the Kingdom.

There was a time when "Phuket News" was the part of the forum which dealt with the news regarding Phuket.

Now, of course, it is the place for non-Phuket residents to come and shout about what a "failure" the sandbox has been, and accuse Phuket of stealing all the vaccines from the poor and vulnerable.

I understand. If I couldn't afford to live in Phuket, I might feel angry too ????

  2. Miss Minaj's views on vaccinations are unhelpful, if xyz celebrity has personal reservations about covid vaccines, the best thing they can do is shut up and let their "fans" make up their own minds.

That said, I did find her address to the PM in a fake English accent rather amusing ????

Perhaps a wild night out around London Town would put things to rights. As a single man, could Professor Whitty resist Nicki's charms? Or would Boris fancy an emergency "cobra meeting"?

If it's all so rosy then why do they need to make such announcements? Statements like these are a massive red flag in my opinion.

The Bank of Thailand rarely do make these kind of announcements. You'll notice the photo is captioned:

    Quote

Bank of Thailand Governor Sethaput Suthiwartnarueput speaks during his first briefing on the economy and monetary policy after taking office in Bangkok , Thailand October 20, 2020.

The chief of the TAT would have given 500 briefings in the same time period ????

The Thai language is second-to-few in expressing abstruse innuendo, as everybody knows.

The Thai sense of humor can be as complex and interesting as is one's intelligence in order to create and understand these complexities.

English, however, is still, probably, the most complex and interesting of languages, mainly because English is a conglomeration of so many languages.

Thai is not a simple language, and the more complex the language, then the more interesting for the users of the language.

Let's not be snobs when judging any language, but just learn the language, and learn to enjoy the language.

    Abstruse ????

There is plenty of humour to be found within the complexities of languages. Non-native English speakers do enjoy innuendo, even if it sometimes needs a bit of explanation.

Incidentally, the website I found that lists 'all inclusive packages' for Phuket is called Royal Vacation. The deals seem too good to be true - they include Hotel Accommodation, COE Service, Covid 19 Insurance, One Way Transfer, 3 Covid Tests. The prices start at 24,160 baht!!! Has anyone any experience of this company?

I've seen the hotel you linked to (Sleep with Me Patong) advertised at 9,000 baht for 14 nights, so 24K for the package would be doable. Good questions in your thread.

Just to chime in, "Unicorn" in investing is slang to refer to a private company worth USD $1billion+. More full definition here.

What the PM is probably trying to say here is that he wants Thailand to be able to incubate and nurture startup champions. Which I think is a good goal, but is easier said than done.

Thailand does currently have one unicorn out of the 800 or so out there:

I have a small Nokia flip phone which fulfils all of my needs because I only need it for telephone calls and messages.

I have a laptop at home with a nice big screen and keyboard on which I do the great percentage of my work/leisure stuff (emails), and that suits me just fine.

I don't want my emails following me around, as I've seen what it does to families whereby, as an example, a family of four eating at a restaurant will all be looking at their smart phones, making conversation just about redundant, and not only that, I believe it's ignorant.

Just recently a friend persuaded me to look at some smart phones and I tried to find a small one, but the only one which fitted the description of "small" was the new Apple iPhone 12 (I think), which was very expensive, and not only that the keyboard was small for my fat fingers.

There are over 1 billion mobile phones in the world which are not the smart phone variety, so it would appear that somebody likes them, as well as me.

So, and this is not a trick question, can you please advise me of a small pocket sized smart phone, that will do the trick, despite my fat fingers and fading eyesight.

Having said all of that, I will switch it off whilst I am out and about, and only activate it when I need to comply with some government regulation or another.

An iPhone 6s runs the latest version of ios, you can get one on ebay or similar for £50 to £100 depending on condition etc. It fits easily into a pocket.

Well some another hard to digest numbers. And they are mathematically correct calculated on the reference date today!

On average over the past 10 years, 507,913 people died in Thailand each year.

    Confirmed COVID-19 cases 1,280,534 +15,452

    1.83% of the population

    COVID 19 deaths 12,855 +224

    1.46% of all deaths

    Healed patients 894,302 +21,658

    https://countrymeters.info/de/Thailand/coronavirus

The numbers are correct, but the timeframe of the numbers (as quoted from your website) is:

    Quote

    * - Percentage of Coronavirus deaths from all the estimated deaths (any reason) since Jan 22 2020 till Sep 05 2021

As I pointed out in my previous post, Thailand's deaths in 2020 are completely irrelevant with regards to what is happening NOW.

I'll use your figures to calculate the current percentage of covid deaths.

Covid deaths have averaged 250/day for the last few weeks.

"507,913 people died in Thailand each year" divided by 365 is 1391 deaths per day.

    250 divided by 1391 times 100 (percentage) - 250/1391x100

    17.9% of all current deaths

Could you recognise a picture of General Yamamoto?  Hitler is an irrelevance to them..

Interesting point you make, but do you have any reason to believe that most Thais would recognise Yamamoto?

Also, Yamamoto was only one of several Japanese commanders involved in WW2. The likes of Hitler, Stalin, Roosevelt and Churchill were the leaders of their countries.

Thailand has 69 million people. Thailand has 1.28 million detected Corvit cases. Thailand has 12,855 Corvit dead. The death rate for detected Corvit cases in relation is around 1%. The risk of death in relation to the population would be: 12855 × 100 / (69000000-1280000) = 0.018%. Why do some doctors fail to understand that the population is willing to live under normal conditions with this risk.

Your figures are misleading, because Thailand had almost no covid deaths until recently:

    April 15th 2020 - 43 deaths

    October 15th 2020 - 59 deaths

    April 15th 2021 - 97 deaths

    September 4th 2021 - 12,631 deaths

Thailand has been averaging 250 deaths/day for the last 3 weeks. Assuming the daily deaths don't rise any further - optimistically - that would be 250x365 - 91,250 deaths a year.
