It's a hassle, in CM in particular, but just think yourselves lucky you aren't being charged for the privilege of making them busy.

It's only money......why kill yourself?????
Probably easy to say if one is moneyed and not in debt. One cannot live without money in a monetary society.
Debt has to be right up there with poor health and relationship problems as reasons behind suicide (if we could ask them).

He added that only with co-operation from locals, could his government restore peace in the unrest-plagued deep South and turn it into a tourist paradise.

The woman who filmed this will be charged with defamation,..... wanna bet?
And so they should. It was a bloke btw - reread op.
People don't speak like that 'in a polite society'? Do me a favour!
It's complete BS and I hope they do get the shaft for filming without consent or whatever it is. He was a bogun but didn't do anything illegal IMO. Locker room talk and the passenger was egging him on.

he fled the scene because he's culturally programmed to avoid responsibility for his own actions
And completely stupid.

Widespread cheating in Thai... land.

That'll keep the coppers on their toes.

I hear ya, but why not go for an 'even' 5% and 40M tourist arrivals?

Only a FOOL would buy a condo or any property in Thailand... I do not know how anyone can live with Thais in a condo...or next door in a house...
I tried it and never, never again.... They do not give a damn about the noise they make all night and day long mainly, they can never shut a door quietly...
Have a nice day ...I am...I do not live in a condo...
So you live on top of a mountain by yourself, or dictating from farangland?
I've 'owned' and rented here. By far the biggest problems have been living next door to farangs (and Koreans). By FAR! Non-tourist areas I may add.
Op, all depends on if you have a decent owner or not really as to whether you're made to pay or not.

Very sad. Debts, debts and more debts. Most of this country seem to be swimming in them.
Thais don't have a monopoly on it. Try most of the world.

Yes, they will easily do a ton (even the 4-seaters)... don't know where 500kg came from. However, overloaded indeed. If the driver could say what happened, it would likely go something along the lines of 'well I normally do that speed around there and no problems'... while disregarding all the water on the road. Sadly he paid with his life. Glad no-one else was killed.

In the '90s, Pai was a little slice of heaven. It is certainly more uptight than years gone by, but then that could be said for most of Thailand... ever since the tourist dollar has been 'reaslised' to the extreme.

since the Germans know about their chocolate, I figured I was getting a quality product
They do cars ok but first I've heard they know how to do chocolates. I think you're getting mixed up with the Swiss.

I'm not a lover of murderous Muslims and the bastardisation of their twisted faith, but anyone who sees the actions of the Israeli solider as being fair play need to have a long look at themselves. Good on the judiciary (and now I see they have received death threats), but it is clear that a swathe of the country agree with his actions, including that pillock Nutanyahoo. Alright, we don't live there so can't comprehend how it must be to know your next door neighbour wants you eliminated, but still it is wrong wrong wrong and they are as much the aggressor as the Palestinians.

what benefits will the agreement bring to the consumer, nothing clear from the article or can we expect reduced airfares?
The consumer is not even part of the overall equation. You could come here, spend all your money, have a crap time, get mugged and raped, whatever, all is immaterial aside from the spending all your money part. And if you do have a really bad time, mai pen rai, just move along and keep your mouth shut. Ooh, the cynicism!

Would be better off and cheaper phasing out the minivan companies and their drivers in 6 days and employing a bunch of monkeys to drive the things... oh wait!

^ From England apparently.
Op, indeed, borax works really well on ants. Mix it up roughly 50:50 with sugar and blend together in warm water - drain and dry. Workers/soldiers take it to the nest, they all eat it and perish including the queen. There is a product in 7-11 that does similar called ARS Ant Killer (yellow pellets, about 50 baht), but not as effective.

Invest in the car repair business if it's doing well (get her involved in the running of it?), also keeping her out of Pattaya and its allure. Doing taxi run might pee someone off, big outlay and pretty dangerous.

It can be a hassle, but Skype is soo Noughties nowadays. If your US contact has a smartphone, you could both be using Whatsapp, which is free and permits video calls also. No pissing about entering phone numbers once contacts have been established.
/ you could probably also call to landlines with Whatsapp.

Be careful, only Italian contractors should be used to make sure your electrics are in order. If you fiddle with the box then you might be electrocuted to death if not declared safe by an Italian.
An Italian and electrics? Sounds as 'safe' as Italians and tower building.
Stick to building nice cars, chum, and leave the electrics to the Brits.
Turn it off if you're worried about the thing malfunctioning and causing a fire (unlikely unless a cheapo Chinese thing or mice in ceiling), but regards power drain from 'on' light, since they are all LEDS nowadays drawing milliwatts, it wouldn't be worth your while.

TAT targets 34m visitors

There are no good Thai beers.
Somchai don't brew.
Hate to say it, but you're right. Beer Lao utterly trounces all three of them. In a way it is a good thing, though, because if there were a UK-style supermarket here with their massive range of beers/wines, I'd be broke!

It's gone from an okayish (because-everything-else-is-shit) lager, to cack. Cans have also been sneakily reduced to 320ml. Any price change? Yeah, right!
