  1. i know that this is off track ,but a few days ago my wife got a call from "her bank" bkk bank asking her to deposite 40000 baht into the bamnks account as she was overspent on her credit card (she doesnt have one only debit cards) when she declined they put her through to the police dept ,well to cut a long story short we went to the bank to report it ,when i told the girl that in Britain if someone takes money from your account it is refunded by the bank ,she was amazed ," not here in thailand she replied" so beware ,tit you have no help from banks or,insurance companies here ,your on your own.

  2. If prices are the same in Russia as here in Thailand ,why is Tesco always packed with Russians buying cheap clothes and eating cheaply in the food court ? there are rich Russians here but the vast majority are on all inclusive package tours ,as to are they rude ,well do bears shit in the woods?

  3. Mr Sakhda was praised on here once before ,so i used him ,very nice and competant guy ,he even made a house call ,found a very minor fault and only charged me 200 baht ,i doubled it.

  5. There actually needs to be clarification between the areas. Further down Jomtien, Nakula, over on the dark side... all decent places where normal people seem to live. However, Pattaya proper is a zoo in every sense of the word.

Another non-resident talking through the hole of his arse. Jomtien, Naklua and the 'dark side' aren't Pattaya, never have been or will be either.

And <deleted> is "Pattaya proper"? Go on, try your best to define that geographically since you seem to know the suburbs. Or are you another one that defines Pattaya be the extents of where you think the whores and sexpats hang about since you haven't really got a clue?

I didn't think there were any boundaries to where the whores and sexpats hang out ?

You obviously dont live out of town near us , no bars ,and not a lot of falangs.

  6. Been there about 6 times--always dragged by an out of town visitor, or with a Thai tour group. Have been all over the area (not just Walking Street).

My take on it: The attitudes of the locals in the service industry suck. They hate tourists but love their money. Makes for a bad combination of $hitty customer service and surly attitudes. Add to that scenario, a boat-load of Chinese and Russian tourists who have taken on the mantle of the previous "Ugly American," and it becomes the last few nails in the coffin of a tourist-trap-gone-to-hell.

And, I'm not "sanctimonious." I'm a practical-minded world traveler (40 countries) who's seen it all. As for this place, it's ranking and appeal is below the bottom of the barrel.

Even most of the Thais I was with came away hating it too...more like ashamed of it. Their take: It's not really Thailand. it's an alien, misanthropic planet dropped into the middle of SE Asia.

Any bad press that Pattaya gets is well-deserved. neus.gif

Yes we believe you ,dragged here 6 times and came away hating it ,and we all know that you will "hate" it the next six times licklips.gif

  7. I'm missing the good old days before 2008 when their weren't many 'rooskies' plaguing Pattaya.dry.png You?

No, too many Brits plaguing Pattaya then.

Love those Russian women, too. Mmmmm!

And their legs!! they go on for ever, but like Italian women ,as they get older what a differance.

  8. I may have mentioned earlier that the first girl that i had a fling with here for some time is now married to a brit and has children ,she is still very attractive and the hight of respectabilaty, you would never dream that as a young woman she worked in a bar.

  9. CM tourist ,god that just brought back memories ,back in about 1992 this lad was over with his parents and fell madly in love with a girl from soi7 i remember him leaving to go home and she was in tears ,so was he ,she even went to the airport with them ,next night she told me that she was in love with him ,just before we went off to my room.,over the next few days she had a few different guys and he would ring her every night at the bar ,when she would swear to love him always and never go with another man till he came back .i wonder where she is now?

  10. When i was up at immegration i also went in for a look ,as stated very few prices ,and as far as i could see very little chance of surviving ,shame as the deli selection looked nice ,but again no prices and i cant be bothered to keep asking ,two hopes for survival i fear and one of those is Bob Hope.

Ps is it the same owner as the one on Sukhumvit near King Power? had the same experiance there.

  11. One thing i do wish is that there had been digital cameras then ,it was all film ,so i took very few pictures , lived in soi bonkot for a time and it was open land most of it ,now i cant even recognise it.

  12. A steady income can be earned in a bar,are you an attractive looking young lady ? unfortunatly if not the income will be one way ,out the door ,i have two friends who came here with quite large amounts of cash and opened bars ,one now lives a quiet life in a village in Isan and the other Works from home in England ,doing something called social security,,its very popular ,millions do it in Britain.

  13. I first came here in 1988, and it always makes me laugh when people say there was no tourist families in Pattaya back then.

    Nonsense !

If there were they were few and far between, also as someone else said it was really safe here then ,never ever saw any trouble .

I remember walking down Walking Street (before it was Walking Street) and being offered heroin repeatedly.

Yes but they pretended they were selling you cigaretes, and as for the people who say there were lots of tourist famillys here ,i dont know what town they were in but it wasnt Pattaya ,i lived in Naklua at the time and the only people who came here were guys and a few tourist groups but they were not famillies.,the change is massive since then.

  15. I remember taking a girlfriend and her mum and dad to the marine bar ,they used to have shows there comedy and singing ,do they still? havnt been inside it for about 20 years ,also simons ladyboy show in walking street ,free to get in and you ordered drinks while you sat in rows like at the cinema .

took a big fat falang woman there who was on holiday she fancied one of the dancing boys and wouldnt believe me when i said she could "hire" him for the night.
