  1. I am just wondering if you are issued with a temporary passport or authorisation letter during the period that your passport is in transit for a month. I know its an inevitable process most of us have to do at sometime but the thought of being without a passport is a bit unsettling.

I applied for a marriage extension and my wife and I have been interviewed.  I need to go back on Dec 23rd to see if my application has been successful.  Am I able to go on my own or is my wife also required to be there?  Hoping it's just me but you never know TIT after all.

On your own, its a five minute in and out. You usually have to simply present your pp at the desk where thry take the photos.

dont go early and dont go too late they will not be happy.

I generally collect end January but once I delayed the trip until 3wks later to coincide with a 90day report.

Girl gave me a right bollkg and told me no longer than 5 days in future.

Yes I think so, seen them in a bronze or silver colour a flat head and the pointy bit almost like a masonry bit ?

Used them to hold some polycarbonate sheets onto some steel round the back of the house .

So you can screw through the Shera straight into the steel ?

They sell silver coloured purpose made shera screws with a self drilling tip and a serrated edge under the screw head to countersink itself; no drill bits needed, certainly for the 8/10mm stuff as a battery drill provides the drive.

My better half, was with her Ex, in the Water Bore business. She assures me

To find quality water at 30 metres ,you have been a extremely lucky customer, let alone a  30 metre average figure in Cmai that has been posted on this thread.

And still your hearsay still doesnt trump my experiences of drilling  around CM, unless "my wife" says otherwise I still await some figures.

You can usually find water within 30 meters but very good quality water in enduring quantity is often 2X or 3X or 4X deeper.

My neighbour of 100m away interestingly had a well drilled last year and they hit gold at 17m ( we are only 3k from the ping.(it could be leaking!)

A friend of ours in san patong had a well drilled last month and 60m was their lucky number.

Both paid 800bt/m plus 2/3k for a pump. Both had to be approved by the local tessabaan engineers.

I averaged a 30m in the CM area as I havnt heard anyone with a shocking number to report. Elsewhere in Thailand yes there are reports of some real money being spent

  7. The cost for drilling is 800-1200bt per metre, for using small rigs or hand drilling.

Cost per metre will go up beyond 30m when large drilling rigs and set uo is required.

I havnt heard of anyone around CM needing to go drop beyond 30m.

I dont think you were ripped off, maybe squeezed a little but you should have researched costs and the local office geology records before you started.

Would have been cheaper to collect rainfall from a mountain than drill the other way

  8. The advantage of an engineered board is that it should be a uniform size and thickness and the t+g enables very simple fitting.

Reclaimed boards need acertain amount of attention planing edges flat as they are going to be butt jointed. Afterwards you will still need to spend time sanding edges flush. Its a lot of work but worth it

True, the old boards dont expand and shrink noticeably however with mine I have noticed one board joint open up for the first time in 4years which coincided with us installing an aircon recently for the first time.

The quantity you need will vary subject to engineered or salvaged. Decide on the way you want lay then look for a board length appropriate.

My room was about 4.2w so  i wanted at least 80% to be 4.2-4.5m, short ones were used where not seen, bed, wardrobes etcs.

New boards are likely not that length anymore and you could be looking at 3m,3.3m, but there is less waste obviously.

But as with most quants for materials you need to add another 10-15% for waste, cuts, defects.

  9. Yes I think theres 3, ones the old crappy place called the Mayflower in the nimmen sois(for the cheap charlies), another one is a nice swanky resort along the soi  after turning left at the lights on suthep road right opposite the SCB bank.

    I forget the other.

Obviously the owners of all 3 are very well connected to have the box seats.

16years ago i came was looking to buy a business the expats i met all had the same advice

you come to los to enjoy and be happy /don't get involved in any business  you will be sad and lose

after all the years here they were all right  /now i can tell the new comers the same advice

What a stupid comment from someone without the balls to give it a go.

I am no businessman, I came here with a suitcase and 300k in 2011, and have been immensely successful which has benefitted so many people.

In hindsight I should have been bolder and set up two more.

A 15 Kg bottle of gas was 40 Baht cheaper on Saturday,

The Government helping the people,so the gasman said,

but really should have been more due to depressed prices

of Gas and Oil on the World markets.

    regards worgeordie

Yes I bought one yesterday paid 385bt, expected it to be 100bt cheaper though, still it lasts me 8 months so no biggy

  12. I strapped all my windows into aac blocks, no visible screws, no damage into block ends. Screw onto the frame, bend 90 degs and a few small screws on the insidewall cheeks.

plastered reveals, the window is goi g nowhere.

    Straps 4bt each.

Hammer fixers are designed for pvc but into masonry

  13. Pity you are not in my neck of the woods, I could just do with a nice take off and prepare a spec and costs.

A bill of Quants is far too formal and unneccesary for a single dwelling construction and is never done after a quote, its done pre quote to let a client know what the likely budget costs will be.

A blank bill would then be sent to builders with drawings so everyone was quoting for the same.
