  1. another thumper..... what will Honda think of next whistling.gif ..... seriously, dressing up crappy commuter bikes in fancy race replica fairings is just not cricket dry.png ...

    This guy gets it.

The market disagrees. They're selling CBRs by the bucketload. Probably because they're cheap, they're good, and they look good. I wouldn't mind if Honda made more in this direction. It's a fine little bike - there's nothing wrong with it, and there's especially nothing wrong with it for the price.

The NX700 series on the other hand I hope dies a quick and painless death. A bike with a Honda Jazz engine which also weighs nearly as much as a Honda Jazz - ew. Please no.

Odd that you like the CB'r' 250 but don't like the NX700... They're both overweight, underpowered, uninspiring bikes. The only saving grace for the CB'r' is that it's really cheap...

The CBR is cheap but it is also a great bike for town, it's so much more enjoyable and fun to drive than the bigger powerful bikes, I should have got this before the Z1000, as for being under powered I certainly do not think 155kph is slow on Thai roads, it's more enjoyable to go between 80 kph up to 120kph which is far safer, a great bike and I want to drive it far more than I ever did the Z.

  2. I'm the organizer, thaivisa.com is the host. So we take the liberty of the final decision.

We will host the party at a location that will accommodate most members best. Hence the poll. At this point in time we have not even decided whether or not we are going to do the party...just checking whether people are interested at all, especially since last time in Phuket not many people showed up (so I have been told...). If we feel it is worth doing it, we will go ahead, if we feel that you guys prefer online bickering over partying, probably not.

Further we would like to know your preferred format, family event, good old armbender or....?

    cheers

Fair dos mate, wish you all the best. You currently have 4 places with almost the exact same amount of votes and at least one member has voted that he doesn't want to go but wants it to be in Kata. laugh.png

I'm not sure how many of us are living in the South, maybe majority. But then again, there is some of us who are living in the North, from where Rawai, Nai Harn and even Kata are pretty far away.

Currently only 6% of people want it to be in the North. It will obviously be in the south.

Nightmare!!! lets forget all about it!!

  3. To be frankly honest, it is about meeting other Phuket ex-pats who have decided to make a new life here, I am personally fed up with the derogatory posts submitted by certain members, god this a new life for most people and no need for the abuse and insults posted by a few members, who cares where this event is held, if you truly want to participate in an event that gets to know other members then surely this is a great thing, personally you can bring your children, I love kids, we can all put up with a bit of disruption for a few hours one time in a month, I would have no hesitation in letting people know who I am, I have nothing to hide, come on people this is a computer, it is cyber space, lets have a great time together, life is short and you are a long time dead.!!!!

If you do not want to included your family but instead want to use this is an excuse to get pissed then there is no point in taking this any further.

  4. Kawa, it was not one of your posts that was the reason for removing some posts, of this i am sure. But you quoted the "bad" post, so the moderator removed your post also. Live is hard for moderators and we should understand that they not always take the time to change content of posts instead of removing them completely.

If you want to be sure you can read all postings then i suggest you set up your profile settings accordingly and let new posts be send to you by e-mail.

Good idea mate, thanks for taking the time to explain.

  5. I don't understand what is going on, one of my posts replying to another poster has been deleted, why? I have not seen any of the replies since putting him straight about being or not being a pussy and the insinuation that you have to be gay to drive a Nissan March, again I am wondering if it really is worth continuing to post on these forums, there seems to be nasty people coming out of the wood work, many threads now get closed because people can not keep it civil, oh well not the end of the world!!!

Just in case the phrase "you tinker" had anything to do with what seems to have happened it is a term I use to describe a jester or someone having a laugh.

I do wish you would get an explanation as to why posts have been deleted, I have no idea what has gone on and now thinking my reply was in someway provocative!!

  6. An inane troll post and those quoting it removed. I don't care how impressed with yourself you are, being disrespectful to other members will not be tolerated. The deleted comments were what we'd expect from a kid, and do not belong here.

What has gone on in my absence??

  7. Currently owning a Kawasaki Ninja 650r - I am looking to upgrade to either a Ducati or Z1000 - wondering if still for sale....

owner upgraded to cbr250..........bike no longer available

lol a big down grade, it's okay much better around town which is where I do most of my driving, the Z was not good at low speeds, it was a pain around town, a lucky young Russian is now the new owner.

i would agree a litre sports bike is a bit hardcore for city use but i dont think i would have went down as far as a cbr 250

the versys would be a nice compromise between the two

I did not want to spend to much money this time, the CBR is great and perfect for my use, shame I did not think about that before I splashed out 600k unfortunately my heart always wins, this time I have been sensible(it's a first, and bought the bike which matches my needs. happy days biggrin.png

  8. i will come along but please kawa dont attack me with a piece of plastic cheesy.gif

Oiii lay of the plastic jokes!!! be good to meet you mate, I will hear you coming due to distant thunder!! thumbsup.gif

  9. I'd prefer to hold the party in Patong or Kamala. I reccomend the Ex-Pat.

If some people want to bring their kids and some don't want kids there, I suggest that it starts in the afternoon with kids allowed until a specified time.

I suggest Carlsburg for a sponsor. They've been doing a lot of promotions in Phuket lately, and they make a great beer.

Last time a sponsor was involved I think he was left out of pocket because of all the people that said they would come but didn't turn up. Just an added complication to what should be just a simple social gathering.

Your idea 'westsail' regarding children is a perfect one. It amazes me how intolerant some people are and how they want everything to be catered for their personal needs and to hell with everybody else. People that are allergic to children can just turn up after the cut off time.

Does anybody else find it hilarious how people say 'I think a good place for the party is........' and then by pure coincidence name the place they happen to live.

The organisers should choose a place they think is suitable and people will either want to go or not. If people aren't prepared to travel then they can't have wanted to go that much IMO.

My advice would be to make it a paid for event with payment made in advance. Cuts to the chase and separates the time wasters from the genuinely interested and the money could be used for entertainment with people still having to buy their own food and drinks. That way people aren't paying for food they don't want etc.

Somebody mentioned flexibility. If people are such hard work that they just can't go with the flow, and be happy whether kids are there or not and don't care where it is, then they're not going to be the greatest fun at a party IMO. I would rather meet up with people who just say 'Yeh I'll come' and then just turned up and had fun with the details being irrelevant.

Just organise a party TV. Don't let all the 'I want it like this' & 'I want it there' brigade suck the fun out of it before it's even been arranged.

I don't find it hilarious that some people would like the party held where they live, I also don't think it is strange that there are intolerant people who would rather not have children bothering them, everyone is different, that is what makes the world interesting, the organizers should select the venue, tickets should be bought beforehand so as to guarantee numbers, obviously there are single members, there are members with gf's and members with wife's, there are members with children and without children, maybe the event could start at 13.00hrs this would allow members with children to attend without other members becoming upset, cut of time would be maybe 17.00hrs or 18.00 hrs, from the cut of time it would then be open to single members and couples without children, if you are not bothered by other peoples children you could attend all day. you will never make everyone happy, it is however important to sell tickets beforehand to avoid a very disappointing day.

I agree 100% with the Carlsburg sponsor suggestion, they have some top girls standing there not doing a lot apart from looking sexy!!

  10. Yes I am Ting Tong!!!!

You can say that again! What did you have before your Nissan March, a BMW M5?? tongue.png

lol no Toyota Hi lux Pre runner, then the Mazda 2 Saloon. Nissan March is excellent!!

You sir are clearly mad and you definately have more money than sense. wink.png

Absolutely apart from the more money than sense part, but oh have lots of money I would change a car or bike every 3 months maybe every 3 weeks lol

  11. Honda Cbr 250 perfect for around town, love it more each day!!

    I can't believe you traded a Z1000 for a CBR250 !

Only a couple of weeks ago you were posting dozens of comments about how it was the best bike in Thailand and how fantastic it was etc....

What changed your mind, did you scare yourself on it?

lol No the bike did not scare me, I am not a touring type person, I prefer shorts trips and I do like driving in and around Phuket, the trouble is if I see something that I like even though my head says no my heart usually always wins, yes I am mad and I have lost a fair bit of money on cars and bikes since being here, it has taken me 3 yrs and 2 cars to get the car I like which is the Nissan March, it has taken me 3yrs and 2 bike bikes to get to the bike I really should own considering the type of driver I am and where I live, the Z was the best bike I have ever shortly owned, but it was not good in traffic, the clutch was quite heavy and I used to get very tired driving it, it's certainly not a bike for the town, in the end I thought I should sell and give it to someone who would fully appreciate it, a nice Young Russian guy is now the proud owner so all is good, even though I say these things I change my mind often so watch the classifieds rolleyes.gif one thing I do know is that I will never buy a big powerful bike again I much prefer the smaller lighter bike which is more comfortable to drive.

Yes I am Ting Tong!!!! Certainly can not afford to lose any more money on vehicles!!

But I do love Supersports!! stop it!!!!! blink.png

  12. If it were to be a family affair it would have to be a Monday evening as that is the only day off my gf gets per week, it would be nice to meet other forum members.

  13. There are many commercial motorcycle cleaning liquids.

    DIY?

If you have a spray bottle which can be purchased at Tesco.?

Dissolve laundry detergent in a 1 or 1.5l bottle of warm water until it reaches a saturated solution. I.e no more powder will dissolve. Leave the bottle overnight and decant the liquid into a new bottle leaving any solids behind and spray that where you think you cannot reach.

Bottle brushes, toilet brushes and tooth brushes etc also help reach those awkward places.

Cheers mate I will give this a try.

  14. Sell your crappy thumper and buy a Ninja 250R thumbsup.gif

sell a bike he bought a couple of days ago for an equally crap bike that costs 60% more clap2.gif

I was talking to Gueda who got the lemon from Honda.

The Kawasaki Ninja sells for 147,500 Thai Baht. Where can you buy a Honda CB'r' 250 for 60% less?!

Sure the Ninjette is a bit more expensive, but it's also a better bike. Sometimes you get what you pay for - by all accounts the Ninjette is more powerful and durable than the fragile new CB'r' 250.

cbrs are not "fragile" except in you kawasaki adled mind

better value and faster 1-100km anyway

for 2 slow bikes ,the cbr is better equipped

Although I do like the Kawasaki the Honda is great, to me 100-120kph is fast enough,of course it will go faster, very comfortable, the gears are very light a pleasure to use, brakes excellent, very good on fuel, can not find the oil filter!! the manual does not show an oil filter(does this bike have one?

Honda Cbr 250 perfect for around town, love it more each day!!
