  1. I have consulted 2 lawyers about the legality of me entering into an Ordinary Partnership with two Thais for the purpose of selling used cars. I have no work permit but I only want to be the investor; not to work.

One lawyer says I can do it, (he even drafted me an agreement) the other says I can't..

What government department should i consult on this subject to get clarity because I don't know if one or both of these lawyers are advising me to their interests or mine.

  2. I made a portable pullup rig out of rope and PVC piping. You can hang it from any steel structure like a car port. You buy PVC piping that is about 3 cm in diameter and cut it to length about 15-20cm for the grip. Using a thick rope will relieve stress on the edges of the pipe. The one I've made has lasted over a year. Unlike a bar, you have to use a close grip but I can't see any real benefit to training with a wide grip. Your back gets beefy just the same!

  3. The best range of LED lights I have seen has been in some IKEA stores. I know that they're not in Chiang Mai as yet, but might be worth going through their on-line catalogue.

They certainly have some good lighting idea for kitchens.

I find that the Thai system of a single lamp in the middle of a room dates from the 1950s, kitchens being the worst.

I just had a look. No luck with LED tubes (just bulbs) and they don't list fluoro tubes of any kind. Thanks though.

  4. I'd like to root my phone when the warranty expires, but I'm in the same boat as you; perhaps too much of a learning curve for the benefit. I guess you need to ask yourself how badly do you want whatever feature the root/custom ROM will give you. If nobody with experience is offering to help then maybe learn to live with your phone's limitations.

  5. I have 2 circular ceiling lights but a I need more light than the 32 watts each standard tube puts out.

    Options:

    1) Double circular fluoro (havent seen any in Chiang Mai)

    2) LED circular (I'm not even sure if these exist. I've only seen LED linear for replacing linear fluoros)

The advantage of LED would be dimmable.

    3) If the above are not available, replace circular fitting with 2 or 3 Edison type sockets.

  6. I have no formal training. Trying and mixing different scents is a hobby, and over the years I've developed a knack for it.

I've tried some of the ones at Spana and I would rate those as average. I'm looking for something better than that.

Sometimes I find that certain brands will have one scent which is really good but the rest not. For example here in Thailand it's really easy to find a good lemongrass, which is hardly surprising.

  7. I have used the shop (Nut Beauty) for many years. It is an exclusive hairdressing accessory shop where most of the Chiang Mai hairdressers purchase their equipment and the massage parlours purchase their massage oil.at wholesale prices, large size 55 baht per bottle. They have all different scented massage oils and unscented.

The shop is by the Chiang Mai gate, on the left heading towards the airport. Below is a photo of the oil they sell and a Google Street view photo of the shop and it`s location. It appears small in the picture but in fact the shop is very large inside, it`s like going into Doctor Who`s tardis.

    Many thanks

  8. In fact these rice weevils are as small as ants.

They way to go is to microwave a kg at a time.

When they are dead they are too tiny to even notice it when you see the rice moving that is alarming.

No different to drinking coffee with ants in it.

No big deal....if you are so concerned even buying another 30kg is only 750bt for piece of mind.

Where do they sells this coffee with ants??? It could be the next big thing, especially for hipsters in the Nimm area!

    I want some too! crazy.gif

Could have potential, but wouldn't ant poo coffee have more panache?

  9. I think your after some bare solid core wire. Go to global or home pro, buy some insulated mains wire of the approximate size your after and strip the insulation. There are heaps of smaller electrical shops with the same stuff.

    Very helpful. Thanks

  10. solid strand or flexible, youre being very ambiguous.

Not familiar with the term 'solid strand'. I think metal wire by definition is flexible. Perhaps some pictures would help show what it seems I'm incapable of describing with sufficient clarity:

    attachicon.gifimages (4).jpgattachicon.gifimages (3).jpgattachicon.gifimages (2).jpgattachicon.gifdownload.jpg

some of that is bare, some of that is enamel coated.

Either way is just fine. The chemical process I will use will strip away any coating.

  12. I'm not after cable (something woven from metal threads or wires). I'm after copper wire. As I said, anything from hair fine to coat-hanger thickness will do. In bundles or spools, it doesn't matter.

  13. Of course many of us have seen it but it makes no sense telling you more since copper wire comes in so many different sizes and forms and you have not said what kind you want. Unless this is some weird game where we are all supposed to tell where we saw some and what size/form it was, then after we post several hundred answers you tell us what you really are looking for.

I didn't post the thickness because it's not terribly important. Anything from hair fine to coat-hanger thickness will do nicely. Anything outside those dimensions would not be classified as wire.

  14. Thanks for the tip Tokay and TFC. I went and bought one today at the ICON center. It wasn't cheap (B1400) but it's worth it. I love the design. If only those fans spun a little faster I'd give it a 10 out of 10 but I guess there is only so much juice you can get out of a USB port.
