And who wants to work for Thai wages and work loads for 5-10 years.
And, how many weeks have you been in Thailand now?
-
You want the very best engineers ... and fluent in English .... and yet you want to pay as little as possible.
It seems like there are assumptions in your post. And you know what they say about ASS-U-ME.
And while it seems like you built a successful business for yourself, it was in different industry and I *assume* not in Thailand. There was post already in this thread where a software engineer in Thailand who's making 20K turning down 50K offer. I guess there maybe other influencing factors in choosing/changing a job than just money.

I must say that when I see other members write that they are satisfied about their membership, I feel happy
You are a very patient man with cool head on this topic, I must say ....
So far, I noticed that Elite Members I know in real life (1 or 2) or on the board (few to many) are happy/satisfied with it but am amazed by discredit/misinformation/deflection on this topic from presumably less or uninformed people on this forum.

I do not think even the school have the right maybe they pay the police.
Not true ... my friend (who's Thai) got her license through going through a driving school that is associated with the gov. She passed both written and driving test through the school and got her license. I think she said there were few associated with the gov and picked one that was most convenient to her.

Just an update. I went by The Sportsman last night and it was as described. A good variety of sports on numerous screens, a large number of pool tables and a few dart boards, a few more assorted games. The menu was fairly vast and was a bit more geared towards the British side of things but had a few American options, American style pizza and burgers mostly. Everything was good except one small problem, it was event night for pool, a tournament or something along those lines so the tables were otherwise taken but we had a good time regardless.
I've passed by Robin Hood several times. I'll definitely check it out. Thank you again all.
I thought they were expanding and putting more pool tables in by now.
I will find out when I land tonight! Don't know if you tried their Thai food but it's pretty good and yes, western food is geared toward the other side of the pond (although their "meat pies" are pretty good).
I think good weekday night for pool is during their quiz night on Monday

... Having to flaunt your wealth is more a sign of your own insecurities ...
I think similar logic is applicable for people who care about (judge) what other people do and how they live their lives ...
MYOB applies.

I should get a commission for mentioning/recommending often ... but Sportsman on Suk soi 13 has good food (western and Thai), a bunch of pool tables and a lot of sports on a lot of TVs. You are not going to get ... 1) music and 2) eye candies (not bunch of "working" or other ladies in this place).
If you want music and/or eye candies with food and pool, you're probably better off at Gulliver's on Suk soi 5.

I do get annoyed by most "over posters" ... those that appear to be in every thread I happen to read. Once I'm overwhelmed/annoyed by their "omnipresence", I simply don't read what they have to say ... and some of them simply make it into my ignore list.

My daughter is 15 huge fat with terrible acne. No one looks are her. I weep every night when i think of her growing up in a society where fathers complain about people looking at their daughters because of their beauty.
and she has a portwine birthmark, teeth braces and has unusually hairy legs for a thai mix.
I think you forgot dark skin?

Most women would probably prefer a hot, sexy young man too. Instead of an old codger with a beer gut.
Most women I know would settle for a (any age) guy with enough money to buy them a house and car.
Then shag the young sexy but broke man on the side.
As you pointed out settle (need?) and want isn't necessarily same thing ... for either sex.

"And,who doesn't drive Honda City in BKK?"
Me, for one, and literally millions of others.
I see that idiosyncrasies of the English language is lost on you ... probably went right through the holes in Swiss Cheese.

Yes that one is here.. https://www.hyundai-motor.co.th/ElantraSport/ starts @ 749,000 baht.
Believe there will be 4 models here coming from Indonesia and Malaysia, so a lot cheaper... as not full imports duty..
My friend and I recently purchased a car (Honda City) in Thailand and considered this car.
Ultimately, Honda won out due to "inconvenience" factor. There were dealers everywhere including one walking distance from my friend's work location. And,who doesn't drive Honda City in BKK? It should be easy to get parts and service for this car.
We weren't as sure about Hyundai parts and service availability so passed on in (although I think this car
is better than Honda City).

These international " overpriced " restaurants you see in these shopping malls are busy with the " non adventurous " type of farang. The type of farang that would go to Starbucks and pay over 100 baht for a coffee ( " ridiculous " may i add..) These types will also try to convince the world that Thai food is no good and should therefore never eat food from a market! ( my 20 baht penang curry from my local market i would choose any day to hideous places such as " sizzlers " and other rubbish found in these malls ) also these types of farang that live in Thailand then want to " tell the world " how expensive Thailand is.
Much of Thailand is third world it's ridiculously cheap ( and so is Bangkok !! ) So can you really live in Thailand on 6000 baht a month " All In " ??? You bet you can!
Welcome to the real Thailand .....welcome to my world viewers !!
Farang jaidee ( your'e lovable Canary Bird- " tweet tweet " )
I don't see anything "jaidee" about this post. You seem very judgmental about those who live different lifestyle than yourself.
Curious why you sign off your post with "farang jaidee" ? Is that your former name on the board?

Sorry, OP, Please don't be so hard with me.
Next time, I will pay more attention to your OP.
But still think, you can fit your address to those few lines, but again who am I to tell?
TITV! (This is Thai Visa).
You bothered to post twice in this thread and yet provided no meaningful info whatsoever ...

I come through Suvarnabhumi at least once a month for 5 to 10 days stay (30 day visa exemption) for last three years and have never been asked to show anything to immigration. They just stamp me through.
I am American with USA passport residing in Singapore.

thailand is no longer affordable to the average farang they are raising prices on everything.

I appreciate the kick in the ass. I know the mess I've gotten myself into. Who knows. Maybe the US government will take care of people like me. There are a lot of us in America who don't have retirement due to the recession. I believe its a third of the population. A lot of people.
You got to take responsibility and control of your own destiny and not look to government or anyone else to take care of it for you.

I can emphasize with OP and I'm just a renter ...
I rent year long contract in lower Suk condo and have seen the effect of short term renters ... people going in and out of each other's units, multiple adults (or family) staying in small studio slamming doors, leaving trash outside the door, sometimes playing with kids on the hall way at late night, taking over the common facility, more ladies of the night coming and going, humping noise audible from the hallway (this I don't mind as much) and etc.
Other "owners" who live there (opposed to investors) must have been taking action as there are more clearer "no daily or weekly rental allowed" signs everywhere and less people at gym and pool hall area (or it's just not high season yet).

Soi 11 clinic will not inject T for you if walk in with it (that's been my experience). Sort of make sense ... what kind of medical practitioner will just inject whatever patient brings in?
If you're going to inject T regularly, it's best to learn how to do it yourself. Plenty of u-tube videos to follow. Or go on TRT at a hospital where they will take care of the whole thing for you.
And I've bought 23G needles and 3ml syringes at pharmacy in lower suk twice before (last purchase was about two weeks ago) .. but I knew exactly what I wanted and requested specifics.

...I believe in both the carrot and the stick when it comes to management. But Thais have never been taught much of anything. You may be surprised to find that some are teachable. And, when in doubt, look for Chinese-Thais.
Very interesting post (just quoted a piece of it) and insight to working with Thais.
Japanese vs Thai food - which do you like better and why?
in Thai Food
Posted
Japanese cuisine is good occasional eat but Thai cuisine is more of staple diet/food (when I'm in Thailand), for me.
For many of my Japanese friends in Thailand, it's the other way around.
