  1. Its not that difficult to transfer money, smaller amounts around GBP20K, above that you will have to show were the money came from

You should keep all receipts or bank books showing funds coming into Thailand

If you need to send money to the UK, you need

    Person name

    Bank

    Account number

    SWIFT Code

  2. I recetly installed a sprinkler system, looked around for someone to instal, but the guy who I met and talked too was not really interested

In the end I bought Rainbird Control Unit, Rainbird pop ups and solenoids for the UK

I thought generally the quality here in Chiang Mai was not that good

I also purchased a Grundfos Pump and the main runs of the system are 1 pvc piping with 1 x 1/2 in for the pop ups

You need to figure out how many zone,s you will have, water pressure and volume, in general you need min 3 bar

  3. Last year I purchased a one year subsciption to UKTV Asia cost Baht 3800

Now 2014 with the amalgamation the cost to renew goes up to Baht 6000, A NEAR 60% increase

New channels along with the 13 UK channels are promised, but nothing yet

    Just a large price hike

  4. FYI - I recently rented a tower approx 10metres high, along with steel planking and wheels

For 3 days I paid around 300Baht - Very cheap

I paid Baht 5000 as a deposit against damage / theft etc

Collect and returned the tower when I finished

So if your thinking about painting the outside of your house, a consideration

  5. You should ONLY ship envelopes containing documents by courier's such as DHL / FEDEX etc,

Ship goods, then the courier is not authorised to carry out customs clearance, therefore you end up paying a LOT more, such as CC Agent fee, Import tax, and VAT

Send good by POST wehther you are in the USA or UK, and ideally keep the value lower, you may pay CC duties, but not Customs clearance fees are involved

I normally ship by post, sometime I may send by REGISTERED post

  6. Yes a vote for IS Curtain, we purchase all our curtains from IS

Price was competitive and service geat

The Indian guy will come or send someone to your house to measure the windows etc, also bringing curtain material books, a couple of weeks later the turn up and fit the curtains

We would buy again from them...NO ISSUES

  7. Normally you use Butane and relevant regulator, Propane is hotter..I guess you could use propane regulator and propane gas

However I have no issues using Butane

You can adjust some butane regulators to increase the gas flow rate, I recently purchase a new regulator for my cooker and the flame was small...so I increased the gas flow rate on the regulator

  8. I have a UK SIPP and my understanding is:-

If the wife takes a cash lump sum from the pension, that would be taxable at I think 45%, so if it was 100,000 the wife would get 55K

If she takes an income from the pension, then she keeps the full amount of 100K, anf may pay income tax if her total income was say over 10k

I beleive you wife would receive a NI number on your death as she would be assessed for UK tax, but probably would not pay any

The SIPP provide needs to have a NL number

You should complete a form with the SIPP provider naming you wife as your beneificary

All income arising in the UK are basically subject to UK tax, personal pensions, SIPP and State Pension

I also beleive pensions are not classed for inheritance tax

As an aside to be totally free of inheritance tax you need to be Non Domicle
