  1. Yes, in Europe this applies to professional sex workers who also have social insurance and can also deduct the costs of their profession, such as room rent, advertisements and lubricants, from their tax burden. But Thailand is not yet ready with legalization. Prostitution is still banned in Thailand and the activities are not recognized as professional job. Due to morale, it will probably take decades for Thailand to get there. That the TRD will put tax on illigal activities will not happen.
  2. To make it more spicy. Do not declare it as a gift, if the girl is not married with you. Declare it as a credit on your transfer slips. Credits are not income. Credits are not taxable.
  3. This bargirls thing is funny. May all lovers who send money to there country girls from abroad, should write on there transfer banking slips: Credit for sick buffalo. Or Credit for ill grandmother in hospital. Then it would not be taxable income. 😁 Easy.
  4. RIP. Saw many concerts from Carabao, also saw them on their European tour in October 2005. Had a great party with them after the concert.
  5. In 2023, the inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI) in Thailand was around 4.6 billion US dollars. The outflow in the same year was around 10.4 billion US dollars. Thailand reported the lowest real economic growth in all of Southeast Asia in the first quarter of 2024 at 1.5 percent compared to the same period last year. But the weak economic performance is no surprise. Thailand has been at the bottom of the region in terms of GDP growth for several years. And now the RD wants to drive away the well-off long-term visitors, and who will now transfer money to Thailand to buy a condo or Thai stocks. That's just blind.
  6. Thailand will lose fat there. Well-off pensioners and foreigners with wealth will pay attention to how long they stay in Thailand in the future. Under 180 days and they will have no longer any problems. There are also other beautiful, sunny countries where they can spend there money. It is incomprehensible, since Thailand in particular wants to be attractive for this well off groups. Probably no one in the RD has calculated how high the consumption tax and capital import loss will be. A week ago, Thailand announced that it wanted to become the new financial hub in SEA in the future. LOL. Greedy amateurs.
  7. If the PMs can be removed by the CC solely on the grounds that cabinet members are unethical, the PM office door should be replaced with a revolving door. The fact that the CC with its 9 judges has the power to ban entire parties across the board, ban parliamentarians for 10 years, throw out PMs, annul the entire parliamentary process and invalidate the votes of many millions of voters shows how unstable the whole political system is.
  8. In the second photo, his Wai is way too deep. With this deep wai he will get no mercy.
  9. I'll wait and see what happens next year with this annoying, planed tax fishing. For 2025 I plan to stay in Thailand for under 180 days. Instead, Portugal and Greece in the summer. Plus Vietnam and Philippines when it's too cold in Europe. I can also spend my money elsewhere. Problem solved.
  10. Nothing wrong with a well-thought-out and functioning immigration system that can be used for a long time and runs stably. In the past, however, it was unfortunately always the case that constant changes and additional requirements were made in a relatively short period of time, which then ended in a patchwork quilt with many errors. Just thinking about their TM30 debacle, where countless platforms are used, paper form, web online and even various apps including the Line app. To date, the requirements for when a new TM30 must be filled out vary depending on each regional immigration office. How often the same data has to be entered/queried twice or three times. Or the many rubber stamps where the immigration officers have to manually set the different date times depending on the visa type. What was entered into the computer system is then manually transferred into the passports. And much more, it shows me that the entire immigration data collection and administration system needs to be fundamentally overhauled.
  11. That's just the tip of the iceberg. In Thailand there are some medical and health impostors, DIY quacks learning by trial and error, self-proclaimed healers, etc. In Surattani I was in a dental clinic where the dentist proudly hung up his doctorate title from a German university hospital. The duration of the study program for dentistry is 7 years and the language of instruction is German. It was too stupid that the supposed Thai dentist "Doctor" couldn't speak a word of German. I immediately went back out the door.
  12. ...Moreover, there were 139 instances where officials from state-run units illicitly sold citizens’ personal data during the review period. The Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau has actively pursued these breaches, leading to the arrest of 11 suspects linked to data theft charges.... It's unbelievable how negligently personal data is handled here. And then there is this weak clearance rate. Only 11 convictions out of 139 data thieves.
  13. That would be the way. One also thinks of the pensioners who have been here for a long time and are already tax residents. If you want to transfer large sums to Thailand, you should first disappear from Thailand for six months + 10 days to be on the safe side. Nobody knows how this tiresome tax issue will ultimately turn out in practice and what changes will come. But one thing is for sure, it is disadvantageous for foreigners who want to live in Thailand long-term.
  14. This can be tricky. Thailand already wants to have the tax return for 2024 by March 31, 2025. In my home country I normally have time until May 31, 2025 (with a tax advisor even until December 31, 2025). Who can collect my tax money first and in which direction the DTA will go with the crediting of tax credits? A mammoth, bureaucratic paperwork that no taxpayer wants. Thailand has lost this year from me, around 2-3 million THB in capital imports and domestic consumption alone. No new car, no new refrigerator and no new addition/ maintenance to the house.
  15. I'm actually making plans to stay in Thailand for under 180 days a year to avoid tax resident status. Then there will be more travel; I can also spend my hard-earned and already taxed money in other countries.
  16. I know a few people who have stopped or are at least reconsidering their plans to retire in Thailand. Almost everyone has planned to sell their fully paid-up home and transfer the money to Thailand in order to live comfortably along with their regular pension. A single-family home in a big city, in a good location, can be sold for 500K Euros or around 20 million Thai baht. Anyone who then transfers these 20 million THB to Thailand in the hope of enjoying a peaceful retirement runs the risk of having to pay up to 35% in taxes. That would be around 7 million Thai baht or 185K Euros. Nobody who can do math will do that. Therefore, Thailand will lose a large piece of the pie of well-off pensioners in the future.
  17. The habit of letting murderers out on bail contradicts all normal logic for justice. Especially since in this case the murderer has even confessed. On what grounds is such a killer, whose crime is beyond question, being granted freedom again?
  18. The number of taxi drivers in tourist areas who do not use the meter has increased significantly. It feels like only every fourth taxi goes at the regular price per meter. The vast majority of taxi drivers try to scam passengers.
  19. Completely misleading headline. Taksin has not spent a single day in prison.
  20. ....Otajbi insulted Thai people loudly while intoxicated. Kuwaitis cannot handle alcohol. At home they are forced to live abstinently and in Thailand they get completely drunk without a limit, with the result that they then behave like the last a..holes. I personally experienced on Emirates flights that the drunk Kuwaitis became real safety risks on the plane.
  21. Now undo the unnecessary tax amendment. All the rich and influential Thai VIPs want to transfer their funds parked in overseas accounts back to Thailand, tax-free, as before. This is how you win power and important majorities in Thailand. Srettha - completely blindly - strangled all money imports and investments into Thailand.
  22. Touching someone's head or even slapping someone in the face is a big insult in Thailand. The journalists should suing him for his money, that is what will hurt him the most.
  23. Just a mess. One day the largest political party is dissolved with questionable arguments and the next day the government is simply dismissed. Thailand can not manage political stability, viable compromises and continuity. Although everyone claims to want the best for Thailand, in reality everyone is cooking their own soup for their own financial benefit. The egoism and irresponsibility of the ruling cliques towards the population is shocking.
  24. The hub of big speeches, ideas and loud announcements. The anti hub of planning, organization, implementation and realization.
  25. The question is what counts as a scam. If you count the number of taxi drivers who don't want to use the meter and always charge excessive fares, then Bangkok remains number 1. Thousands of passengers are ripped off every day by greedy taxi drivers. It has now become difficult to find a taxi driver in Bangkoks tourist areas who drives for the regular meter price.
