This sound like a fun holiday, where do I sign up? Is it possible to get a female "Covid minder", preferably in her twenties?

If I could be transported back to a time of my life, it would be back then when Bangkok was just so off the 24 hour wonderful unadulterated wall.
If I had a time machine I would travel back to the old Thermae and to when Patpong was at its best. I miss those times so very much, nothing today will come close to that period. I meet Bernard many times in the bars and I also stopped buying Bangkok post when his weekly column was not more there.

The charter flight was virtually taxiing on the runway
The virtually Chinese 'tourists' were nowhere to be seen
The virtually Chinese were told that they would not be refunded
The virtually vegetarian festival cancellation was just a misunderstanding
and on and on it goes...

It is not that the Sky is falling, but that the governments hiding behind fake statistics and numbers, and continued lies is now slowly coming into the light. No one ever wants this stuff to happen, but when it does you can not keep kicking the can down the road as this Government has been doing, and instead of taking true measures to shore up the country they instead waste money on unnecessary projects and purchases for the Military. But hey the Baht is still flying high.
I don't trust their statistics at all, especially their unemployment statistics. Sweden is one of the countries that have so far done well through this crisis, still the unemployment is now at 9 % in Sweden.

I booked and payed for the hotel, the flight ticket (thai airways only and a peng peng one), health insurance and sent copies of everything to the RT Embassy.Yesterday (2days before lift off) I got a call from the embassy informing me that I hade to come to the embassy (meaning driving 240 kilometers) because my one year Non O visa extension (valid until late February) was not valid for this trip and I had to apply for another Non O - Visa 3 month singel entry.
I asked if they would refund me for that one year visa extension with multiple entry as they obviously revoked it - the lady at the embassy looked at me as if i came from outer space and speaking a language she did not understand.TIT = this is Thailand.
It's very frustrating to deal with this group of gangsters in uniform.

I don't suppose they'll offer refunds to all they people they've just screwed over. This is incompetence and stupidity beyond belief. Not to mention borderline fraud.
I should be happy that the Thai Long Stay Company never even acknowledged my email. Maybe I didn't sound gullible enough to be conned.
"The first group of 300 (or only 150?) Chinese tourists and businessmen from Guangzhou, scheduled to arrive on the southern island today, will not permitted to travel. It’s been reported in Khaosod English that the Thai government won’t offer them refunds for accommodation, insurance, flights, along with any other costs they had incurred so far to obtain their STVs"

"They are still required to complete a 14-day quarantine period. The Ministry of Public Health has had discussions and will announce more quarantine measures."
So we can expect more crazy rules coming? For those few "tourists" applying for this new STV Visa it must be like walking into a minefield blindfolded.

LOL. So, Thailand duped them to pay a lot of money, but won't let them in now. That should tell people where not to book their next holiday.
And they expect millions of Chinese tourists to come after this daylight robbery?

Holiday, no. But a lot of older Scandi's spend 6-7 months here to get away from their winter. For them it might be worth it. However, they come from societies with a lot of personal freedom, I can't see them jumping through the hoops needed to get here, or putting up with the monitoring talked about.
"Ordinary" tourists are at least 6 months away, possibly 9. By this time next year I see things being open again, though how much of the tourist base is gone forever is anyone's guess. I'm not knocking the Thai authorities in this, IMO, they've done a great job of keeping the virus out, I feel much safer here than friends and relatives do in the UK.
Just read TUI's report of the best selling destinations for Swedish tourists this coming autumn and winter , Cyprus and Gran Canaria they are, no visas needed and no Thai crazy BS. Beer, wine, and great Farang food to lower prices than LOS, not to mention the hotels and the flights are also much cheaper.

Why?
I think they have to tell that guy on Phuket who wanted to shoot foreigners who don't wear a facemask with a sling shot to be nice to the 150

Foreign tourism reopening: Key operator slams government for inconsistency, lack of communication even damaging tourism
in Phuket News

Clever leaders would have used the last 6 months to repair Phuket roads, footpaths, collect all trash on the island, dig down the ugly electric cables and get new electric or hybrid low emission busses to replace the tuk tuk maffias. They could have showed the world how much better Phuket is now to generate interests from tourists. They could have used the many thousands of people who got laid off to do this work instead of just giving them some small money for three months. But again the rulers are not very clever and only interested in getting huge commissions from weapon purchases.
