If you are married you are going to be the legal father once your child is born. No need to do anything. You only need to legitimize the child if you are not legally married.

As a newly dad I am not able to understand your question. Only to consider an allowance for your wife is just ridiculous.
To be honest you should get moving and do everything yourself. Next to my job I am running the household, go shopping, pay the bills. No need for a daily Nanny as it just shows that you are committed in that relationship. Is it tiring, yes, but it is what you choose.
My wife would probably kill me if I even consider to "pay" her. It is your job now to take the responsibility for your family.
In regards to costs:
immunization package, we paid 30000THB for 3 years of immunization. Individually would cost each between 1000-3000THB in a private hospital. I would not consider any public hospital after talking with my family doctor in the west. So many things missing in their plan.
Milk will run you between THB 500-1400 per week. Depending in the eating habit and brand you use.
Additional doctor visits per month roughly 1000thb a month.
Cloth from THB 2000 up per month. All cloth we bought before birth are already getting very small and he is only 6weeks
Bottle cleaner app. 500thb per month. Cloth detergent app. 1000thb per month. You can expect to wash every 2nd day.
Baby lotion, diapers, etc. will run you between 1000-2000thb.
Not considering all the other expenses, like stroller, bed, books, bottles, equipment to disinfect the bottles, water heater, etc. which might cost up to 200000thb, depending in what quality you want.
I might have missed some items but expect to pay on a monthly basis in the beginning THB 10000-15000 if not up to 20000.

Yes. You should feed him as well during night time. I did it, when I had two little puppies. Otherwise they start whining, just like real babies.

I want to explore the possibilities of importing my car from the US. I am looking for a contact merely in Thailand that can walk me through the process.
Before you comment about how it's not worth doing it or it's too much of a headache...thank you, I have heard/read this on many forums etc... I know.
Just wondering where/who to contact so as I don't explore this alone.
Thanks.
As you mentioned, you have done your homework in regards to importing used cars. I wish you good luck and you might want to try Fair & Easy in Bangkok. They are importing/exporting cars for different organizations. They might give you the same advise then a lot of others here on the forum, but you can try.

You actually could do this yourself. All the information is available through the internet side of a Hong Kong. They will need to have a declaration to marry signed by you or your girlfriend with the intention to marry. This needs to be certified by a notarized public in Thailand and then with you and your girlfriends passport copy to be send to Hong Kong. Do not forget a bank draft in the correct amount to be send together with the documents. After a waiting period of app. 5 weeks are you able to set an appointment with the registrar in Hing King, whom will marry you. You will need two witnesses. Afterwards you need to bring the marriage license to your and the Laotian embassy to get them certified. Please make sure beforehand that Laos is recognizing the "Haguer apostille", which you will receive. If jot, the marriage will most likely not be legal under law in Laos. It should be recognized in other countries but not sure.
Hope this helps. If you need a link let me know and once I am at my computer in a few days I will be able to send it to you.

It sounds like an alarm. Could be from a SMS or MMS, which you might not have looked into or a different system alert. Hard to tell without seeing the screen.

Yes can be done and should not be an issue as long as your wife agrees.
I am not married either but our child has my last name, I am registered as the father on the birth certificate. The house registration does not mention you as the father but neither the mother. According to what I know it is only to register where the person is living. I might be wrong about this.

Most communities, even gated allow pets. It might depends on the landlord if they allow animals in the house or not. Best way to find out is ask. But I have not seen one village or housing villa compound where it was not allowed.

If you get married it will be possible to have it legalized in Germany. This is due to the "Haguer apostille" which both countries signed. Therefore all legal acts, e.g. Marriages will be legalized by the German state. In this case you do not need to get the "Ledigkeitsbescheinigung" at the "Standesamt" in Germany. Friends of mine got already married in Hong Kong according to their law and it has been accepted. I will be there in October for mine.

Thera is no easy and fast solution for Germans. To get this certificate you will need to have a few more documents ready and translated. Not only from yourself but as well from your girlfriend. First she need to have the certificate that she is single. That she will get at the Amphoe where she is registered. This will need to be translated together with her birth certificate and tabien baan. Once this is translated you will need to get it legalized by the Embassy in Bangkok. After legalization you will need to send it to the "Standesamt" in Germany where you are registered. You will need to do this with an original birth certificate. They will then issue you a "Ledigkeitsbescheinigung" which you need to get the affidavit to marry from the German Embassy.
Easier way would be to register and get married in Hong Kong. No documentation needed. Just send in the request to get married together with the check. 20-45 days later you can go to Hong Kong and get married within 5 days.
Thanks for your post! If we get married in Hong Kong can i still obtain a non O visa based on marriage in thailand?
You should be able too once it is recognized in Thailand. As far as I am aware it will be certified by the Thai embassy in Hong Kong. Afterwards you will need to get it registered in Thailand. Not sure about that process though. -
Mention the highest degree and provide a recommendation letter from past jobs. Furthermore the company who would
Ike to higher you should write a letter explaining why you would be the best candidate. Then you should be fine as this was the way a few of my colleagues got hired.

I would not say that it is a myth. You mind find this useful: http://www.customs.go.th/wps/wcm/connect/custen/individuals/importing+used+or+secondhand+household+effects/importingusedsecondhandhouseholdeffects+Why does this myth that having a Non Immigrant visa entitles anyone to duty free import continue to be posted here at Thai Visa ?
If you didn't get charged then you got lucky, simple, had nothing to do with what type of visa you had. If you imported via a shipping company and you were charged a much smaller amount than you estimated and you didn't receive a receipt then you paid "tea money"
Only returning Thais who are overseas on an employment contract are entitled to duty free importation of their household goods and even that has restrictions

I would send it via post if you do not need them urgently. With a forwarder you will incur export and import clearance fees which easily alone can result in 300-400USD. Usually you would as well be hit by customs charges, except you have a work permit and it would be your first import. Other option would be excess baggage. Depending on the airline it might turn out cheaper as some have a fixed fee.

For the one or other interested. I went there today. The owner K. Joke, a very nice guy, gave me the choice and I could have tried out all in my car, after he installed the base. The boxes are imported from Taiwan and it seems to be a really good quality. Installation took about 30min. The place is a bit hard to find and is basically his own house. As stated very good and efficient service for a fraction of the price asked by Thule for the same kind of system.

I'm having no clue how he was able to manage that. Well, he is very charming and the hospital accepted some papers from him. For sure he holds no passport.
However, he still holds the birth certificate in his hands, with his name being the legal father. I don't know who issued it, but I guess it was the local amphor, all handled by the hospital.
No matter why and how, plz.
My question is how he will be able to continue. After reporting himself after 1x years overstay at the airport,he will pay his fine, but wants to live and stay with his family in Thailand.
(He'll fly out by Monday, I hope)
I am as well mentioned on the birth certificate of my son. By law I am still not the legal father of my son. On the birth certificate the mother can mention anyone to be the father. Only through court ruling or marriage it becomes legally his. Therefore he would need to get married or start the registration process in court for his child. It can take up to 6month to get registered, depending how busy the court is. Only then he would be the legal father.
Would this have any effect for his visa. I do not know.
Maybe one of the more knowledgeable people on visa questions on TVF will comment soon.
Maybe best option would be to get out, pay fine, apply for a tourist visa, which will provide him with another 90days including extension and then sort it out.
He might ask at the embassy during application if it is possible to get a non-o based on the birth certificate. I doubt it but I am looking forward to be proven wrong as this would open doors for a few more people to stay here in Thailand without any hassle.- 3

Thank you all for your helpful answers. I found a Thai manufacturer who has provided me with a price of THB 22.000 for a 179*84*43cm box including bars and installation. It seems like a design copy of Thule. I think perfect for what I need and stroller plus a bag fits nicely.
Do you mind sharing ....
Not at all. The company is located in Samut Prakan. Internet site only in Thai www.roofboxthai.com. I am going to have mine installed tomorrow and can give feedback afterwards if interested.

I remember that you open a different topic for the same case. Might have been useful to leave it there. As many have mentioned it is a hit and miss. The supplements you ordered, as all supplements, require a FDA license. This to acquire is not easy. I think the best way to move forward is to call or go to the airport customs with somebody Thai speaking and try to clear the package directly without involving FedEx. FedEx is known for clearing according to law for all their items. Therefore you will not receive any assistants from them. By going to the customs and pleading your case you might have a chance to get it out by paying a small fine and the duties and taxes for the import.
To find a customs broker with the right relations to customs might be hard to come by.
As mentioned by others do sign or agree verbally to clear, destroy or abandon your shipment. This will force FedEx to keep it in their possession. Not forever but quite a long time.
This will give you some room to try and clear it yourself.
FDA itself will most likely not be helpful in this case either as they will want to receive samples for testing, etc. way to expensive and time wasting and will cost app. THB 30.000 onwards so that you might be able to receive a license under a company name.
Sorry to say but try it yourself and if no luck with that you might really want to consider abandoning.

In my experience and talking to other bilingual families yes they will start talking at a later age but then mostly in complete sentences. As long as your daughter reacts to what both of you are saying then it should be fine and nothing to be worried about. A friend of mine grew up with 5 different languages spoken to her and she turned out fine. Starting speaking at the age of 4 but then in all languages and was able to switch between them without any issues.

Usually your Thai ATM card has a Visa sign on the front. That means that you should be able to use it like a credit card. If necessary you might need to activate it. You can then pay Via PayPal using your ATM debit card. I did that a few times.

Have your work permit and visa done beforehand. Once done you can save.y import but make sure that TNT staff knows it is personal belongings because not every company is willing to organize or ship.
This is usually due to the different liability between commercial and personal goods.
Otherwise make sure you are not packing original boxes and cartons as this can raise suspicion with customs and you might get hit with duties.

Thank you for moving CharlieH. I am living in the Eastern Seaboard Region but would be able to pick up from anywhere. That is why I did not state a specific region. I forgot though to mention I am looking to install it on my Honda City. Due to the CNG tank I am not able to get my baby's stroller in the car. And yes if I would have known that before I might have considered a different car, but car came before baby. :-)

Could not find the information through the search. Does anyone know a good and reliable travel agent in Bangkok or Pattaya? Yes I could book online directly and find flights through the different search sites but I prefer a travel agent for this one.
