Wrong! I am in Chiang Mai... GPS was and is  (right now) showing me either in Chiang Rai or Lampang.. Accuracy depends on Tower being used. Or how efficient Companies want their equipment to be... Here Cheaper is considered better (more money in some ones pocket!)

Yes, GPS can be turned off. This is on older phones to keep up and your Data from being Tracked... Period!

On newer Phones if the Battery is not customer removeable you as Owner of Phone can do this:

1.Turn Off Emergency Location Services

2.Turn off Google Location Services

3.also the search for location by WIFI (even when switched off)

4.Same with BT (These last 2 will search even when program is off, to completely disconnect you must do so by turning these switches off in Location Services or where ever Manufacturer has hidden them)

Plus you can completely disable Location Services, PERIOD!

Going further you have the option to disable any or all Permissions. This include those on full time (even in sleep ode). Or those that use only while in use.

Now to go further... Tracking is how Programs Track your usage of cell phone, Tablet or Computer. Be advised that completely disabling is easy... But can limit your use of certain Programs example FB, Windows, Google... Example of this is Google disables Play Store and the ability to upgrade installed programs  (If you disable their Tracking) Be it know that these are steps to track everyone and Manufacturers are being Mandated by the Government to do so hidden under this Usage scenario. But also by Law they are required to provide user being able to Disable... What ever they choose, They may not like it, people will say you can't... But it is within your Rights!

Now I just got done asking 15 people who went to Fitness Center and 2 Restaurants then I walked down around the Corner to 7/11 and their Gas Station... be surprised!!  11 out of 15, either did not have, was disabled and why? Tired of being tracked! of the 15, 7 did not own Smart phone, 9 were using a Google device based on Android 4 (unit saying it had Version 7, 8 or even 10...

Tha closes last argument.  Now another user here owes me a Couple Beers f???????? for my time... AND yes I did wear a Mask!!????

Location Service when physically turn off Disables all! Or you have option to choose who, where and what... individually!

I do know a few areas here in Thailand that the majority of Smart phones are now owned by Enterprising Lady Boys... How they were in the know to start collecting is as big a question as the statement that "Very Few People" here referring to Thai's again don't own a Smart Phone. Do a search it might say running Android 7 or even up to 10... but Google search and scan it. 99% of the time it's a highly Modified "Not covered as a Google authorized Device" It is running a base system of Android 4!!

Daughter had accident... she remained in Car disabled for 2 days before Hiker Found her... Her GPS did not work! This is an I-Phone, Store who sold her phone never turned on... (This was a phone supplied by her Employer)

Here in Thailand... wrong! over 35% of those seen using cell phones, are not smart phones. Or phones that Manufacturers have chosen to not upgrade or support, trying to force ownership or purchase of New Phone.. Remember Economy? Average only 15-25 Percent can afford, then buy only if they want! This required information will have people all Baulking at the Purchase of... I personally have a Samsung 6s... Most  most phones in use here and surrounding Countries are still Flip Phones or before SD cards were made an option to use... "Fact!" I retired as a Senior Cell Phone Tech on West Coast USA. Delt with many issues with Visitors coming in with issues because of Support.

I have seen and Know Thai's who are supplied a required Smart Phone by their Employer. But are Forbidden to install "ANYTHING" or use anything that was not Company issue. I can personally name 15-20 individuals who live as neighbors that this applies to. I have been told that periodic checks of phone are done, if something found... "They are Fired! On the Spot!!"

I have a concern that might well need your opinion and expert advice...

Somebody who like you and me have chosen to live and retire to Thailand, has to leave. In my case it would be to escort my Mother in law either to Thailand or back to USA. She has Green Card, she can only stay out of United States less then 6 months or lose her Card. (Know fact... If for any other reason there is nothing on God's Green earth.... "That I would leave here for"! I have complied with all the silly regulations imposed on us Retirees. Have been here for almost 20 years as well has had Bank Account's reflecting more then enough to satisfy anything Immigration could throw at me and my Thai Wife. Any long term Visit would be unquestionably out of the question as we have 4 legged Family Members would rely on our presence, understand?

So if I am required to make this trip, upon returning to Thailand would it be deemed that I be required to obtain all these New Certificates and now fulfill all these New Requirments to gain entry? 

1. We have Private Home here. Immigration has gotten tired of stopping by for a "Beer". Hospital Stay has never been an issue as I can pay Cash On Demand... (Understand?) Insurance has never been needed other then what I can Buy from Bangkok Banks Insurance Department, which has been renewed each year for 15 or more years... (Getting Picture yet?)

2. Do we also need this Tracking Program? It to my Knowledge has never been addressed to or for those who are already here.. ???

I would Gladly do my Quarantined Time at home as I could fulfill my Obligations, I don't do much Traveling anymore as I am content in Building Custom Motorcycles, getting "Everything" delivered. We have become on a first name base with the Coke Cola Driver's who every 2 months deliver Pallets of Bottled Water. Lazada delivery knows me... Big C and Kerry Drivers have had Lunch with me.. etc..

Why would I need to stay out of Quarantine.

I am sure there are others who live year, Live on the same terms as we have chosen and would like to here an Honest Reply or even a Planned Invite to those (Whose words we can stand behind) to address any type of reply in Your Monthly Post.

They took our 1,900 Baht, did they not? Now they owe to in this Case America to take care of us while we are here. This includes Vaccine!

If Thai Visa Holders start Dying because of the lack being able to get Vaccine. Maybe a International Law Suit is in order....

As Our Embassy is telling us to follow Host Country...

Maybe a 2 or 3 pac (series) could be made available to be shipped to Citizens who are Outside the U.S. (They can keep my last Stimulus Check to pay for it (and secure shipping)

Do the simplest solution...

Ban all Migrant Workers for 6 - 9 months. Fine "Anyone" found using at this time an "Illegal" 10,000 - 20,000 Baht for 1st Offense. 2nd time triple Fine (30,000 - 60,000 Baht) and add 90 days Jail Time. 3rd Offense Triple again (90,000 - 180,000 Baht) and 270 days Jail Time.

If Thailand wants to eliminate  or stop Covid 19, they need to get "Serious"! This would be for each Individual!! No Excuses, just do it!

Make Farmers and Land Owners use Thai Labor, set a Minimum Wage for Thai at 500 Baht per day! Those refusing to follow New Covid 19 Rules same Fine Schedule would apply! Let Farmers raise the prices accordingly to help offset this New Law.

To be Safe, People would not only Stay at Home, but would also Gladly pay to be Safe! Words from Ministers are fine, but they need to insure they are followed. Those who cannot or won't insure Rules are applied need to be replaced.

I want my Family to be protected, this does not mean to go Home, They are Home! Courts need to follow Infection, those who are (Citizens) found to now contact Covid 19 now, Ministers need to be Liable for Damages... Or Just Replaced. The Good Times are over! Majority of the Thai Nationals will gladly step-up to Protect Families... Those that won't... I would not Consider  to be in the Best Interests of Thailand! Period!

But now was the time for a rethink of the priorities.

 

One way forward - referencing the analogy of Surawuth - was to go after the BIG fish. Well heeled tourists who would spend plenty.

 

Another idea at least for the present is to follow all the protocols and encourage an eight step plan to promote a place like Phuket as a winter haven away from Covid hit areas in the west like the US and Europe.

 

Phuket could be billed as a "safe haven" for those foreign fish. 

 

But Thailand has to act fast to ensure that it is not a fish out of water.

Most Workers today have either one week or if they are still lucky... Maybe two. Why on Gods Green earth, The Blue Marble in the Heavens... Basicly Girls left home in search of an income, to help support their Families, feed their kids as a single mother abandoned by her Boyfriend or Husband. Only to end up in places like Pattaya or Phuket... Military was intentionally sending Troops here for R&R... Once people got locked into this Lifestyle it was almost Impossible to leave... it ended with Drugs... More Children and Employer's getting Rich not the Sex Worker

Someone is definitely Dreaming. Most available bodies able to travel here, have one to two weeks Vacation a year!

20 years ago before Unions and Corporations decided to pocket Workers Benefits, you might have been able to get 4 weeks ( Then only if you started working at age 10. Most were at a max of two weeks, some Benefit plans let you roll over to after 2 years have total accumulated at two weeks x two years, a total of Four weeks.

But still....

Where do these Kids in Politics Dream up these Stupid Ideas!! Must be because of their Work Habits and ethics... Think the Whole World is on the Same I.Q. levels...

Think about it.... To spend entire faction... About 90% of your funds being in some <deleted>##in Hotel, and never see daylight??? Who is the Stupid one here?? At least at home in some Countries I can still get a Beer and enjoy a "Lap-Dance"

Being Tested before you depart to come here, proves nothing. Unless you were tested, quarantined... kept in isolation until confined to plane. It just proves at "One" time you were Covid-19 free. Does not Certify you Boarded Flight in same status!

Example:

You are tested at Doctors office and confirmed you did not have the Clap. You Board the flight and during the 22+ HRS to complete your flight to Thailand. You seemed lucky enough to get a <BJ> later sex in the rear of plane.

You arrive in Thailand, met by your wife (you bypassed testing as you showed certificate you had test done in America. A week later your wife takes you to the Hospital (she has the Clap now) to get tested, it is confirmed you are infected also. They contact Airlines to get Stewardess tested, she also tests Positive. (This confirms your wife was not screwing around while you were gone.)

Point in case if you were tested upon arrival, a mess, probably a Divorce would not be played out, you marriage might have been saved. Yes no one died, But look at the mess you caused by not being tested and quarantined!
