Hey guys, I'm in BKK for a week or two and need a decent daily coffee place to go to. Does anyone have any suggestions of coffee shops in the Thonglor/Ekkamai area? Would be cool to find a place that roasts there own beans and had a wide selection of coffee

Roast ( is the name of the place) Thonglor soi 13 just 100mt inside the soi on the left.

The owner is a master roaster and barista too, very nice person, they roast inside the place, which is even a beautiful international restaurant, i've no interest to suggest this place ( they don't buy my coffee machine) but it's worth a visit.

Just for clarification, by "finest" grade I believe that you mean that it is ground to the "finest" powder rather than that they use only the "best" quality/grade of beans (which could be a subjective judgement)? ;-)

Turkish or Arabic coffee are different in the preparation not mandatory in the coffee beans quality.

Turkish coffee it's particular because they use the finest grade of coffee ground but they don't add any extra flavor or spices like Arab do.

Economic preparation due to you only need a coffee grinder, a pot and a filter to separate the coffee ground by the beverage.

As always there are many variant in the preparation by individual taste.

There must be a huge market for 2nd hand espresso machines in Thailand considering the plethora of coffee stands, shops, cafes etc all over Thailand. The only place I have heard that they sell them is JJ market though. Unless someone (perhaps in the industry) has other ideas?

2nd hand espresso machine could be a good solution to save some money, the seller should to organize himself to grant the repair and the availability of spare parts, in some case its' quite difficult depend by the brand and by the seller too.

Other important factor is if the seller had properly refurbished the machine before to sale.

I bought a coffee percolator from Big C, OTTO with a reusable filter (300bht), and I use Moccona Espresso ground coffee 250g (approx. 89bht). The coffee can be bought at Tesco, Big C, Max Value and Foodland, there may be others.

I was just in Tesco Lotus - I think I saw some of the coffee you show. I also saw a bigger bag, 500g I think of another brand, sounded almost Japanese in name. You know the one I mean? Silver bag with green writing I think.

Are their specialist coffee shops in Bangkok where you can buy Italain brands like Lavazza or Illy?

Hi Malthus, if is convenient for you, my neighbor sale Italian roasted coffee in beans or ground, it's worth a visit if you want to try a cup.

My original question was about what happening if a company can patenting ALL seeds ( no mention to OGM) because IMHO should be not a good thing.

The original news i got was incomplete and i tried to get some response by experts, that's all.

My recent experience to try to get a Chinese visa.

I was seeking to get a visa for a visit to a trade fair in Shanghai.

Due to the trip reason, ( business) the Chinese Embassy required to me the below document:

A copy of my company registration translated in English by a certified authorized translator

A copy of my WP

A copy of some passport page + departure card

A 6 months personal bank account statement

An hotel reservation valid for the period of stay

A round trip flight ticket

A copy of the trade fair online registration or e-badge

Maybe more document by embassy discretion

They told me that since all documents collected and accepted I should to wait 5 days before to collect my passport with visa,

I had to cancel my trip due to my late moving to provide in time the translated docs.

At least next time I know how to do.......2 weeks before.

a restaurant owner told me he dont like backpackers and teachers. btw he seems to be offended at me for ordering a promotion meal with just mineral water instead of the typical sugary beverages or alcohol and he is assuming me to be either a backpacker or a teacher. eventually i got really pissed off and did a stupid move by giving him a 1000 baht note for a 200 baht meal and asked him to keep the change

Back to the OT I knew some teachers and ALL are good guys, well prepared and with proper reference, the problem are the programs teaching system of the different schools which often did not allow to these teachers to show their capacity

Stuff of repair Shops Say no name product inside exactly the same often then a brand product with higher price!

In Thai you have only one year warranty also my expensive Jura in price range of 1200 € was gone after one year, when this would happen in Thai then you can buy a new mashine in the eu got replacement or free repair within 2 year espasaly on expensive restaurant mashines this is a importent fact!

Yes you right, but I can add something.

Some company they don't want to risk offering more than 1 year warranty but someone else can, depend if they invested time to verify the reliability of the products as we did.

We can offer a 1 year fully warranty plus a 2 additional years for the main parts for ALL our products not only for commercial.

The most sensible coffee machines are the fully auto and I'm proudly can say that after 26 months our model 05000 Professional used in an hotel had not any issue and still working properly and one machine totaled 22000 coffee in 8 months.

Of course this is not 100% guarantee but.........
