  1. I applied for PR in 2007 and got it in 2012! I think the process is much quicker these days. Anyway, once you provide the required documents/information, you just wait. The interview in Thai is pretty simple, so don't be put off by that. It was a good idea to get PR. As a previous poster said: no need for 90 days; no need to do anything during Covid; if your Thai wife dies/leaves you; you still have status in the country.
  2. Immigration has been hit and miss in my more than 30 years in Thailand. Could be a 2-hour wait, or could be 10mins. I suspect the 20-minute maximum wait will be difficult to achieve,
  3. I remember those MD-82's going over my house in Nonthaburi. Very noisy...sounded like a meteor! "Both reports found that the captain and first officer had worked hours in excess of the legal flight limits; that the first officer attempted to transfer control to the captain during the go-around; that neither pilot initiated a go-around and that the training and safety programs at the airline were deficient. "
  4. Here's the 224 page report: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/64f73d429ee0f2000fb7bf1f/AAR_1-2023_G-VSKP_Final_Vol_1.pdf?fbclid=IwAR2KO9HTKe2Qfp864PKfvZ2L0KmgYapipjkBfu0_xljSVEi2kl8hJmo3_ks
  5. Let's hope they don't leave rubbish along the cycle track.
  6. Yes...I have Thai & UK DLs. Hire car companies in both countries prefer my Thai DL because I live in Thailand and have utility bills that confirm my address.
  7. I have PR and got a new passport a few years ago. I just went to Chaengwattana with old/new passport, Residence book and red book. Just say at reception "new passport" and they will give you a queue ticket for E. If I remember rightly, they just put a few stamps in my new passport/residence book and that was it.
  8. That article is over 12 months old...and still no A330s flying.
  9. Interesting why THAI bought more two-engined wide-bodied planes. Pre-pandemic, the airline had a fleet of 15 A330-300s with an average age of 11 years with some of these being very young aircraft. Not sure what's going to happen to these aircraft but I don't think think they are operation, nor do they form part of THAI's fleet on the website.
  10. Indeed...it is a bit of a struggle!
  11. After reading this, I might open a Bangkok Bank account. Both SCB and KTB have recently discontinued their web-based service and Internet banking is only available via their mobile apps. i much prefer using my MacBook for Internet banking. Hopefully, Bangkok Bank won't follow suit and close their web-based service .
  12. If it's a filter with a series of cartridges, it's just a matter of buying some new cartridges and fitting them yourself. e.g. Something like this:
  13. On 26th July I submitted a TM30 for a couple of friends who are staying with me. I just checked on the TM30 online website and they are already registered. I followed these instruction I found on a forum: "To check whether the TM30 data you uploaded have really been filed, simply open the website again, and on the left-hand page click on the 2nd directory and select Search TM30. Enter your username (when it does not appear automatically) and then fill in the search-period for your TM30. The dates need to be max 7 days apart and have to be in Thai date-notation. Your uploaded TM30 will appear and you can take a screenshot."
  14. I have cycled more than 44,000km in Thailand and have constant battles with soreness/redness etc. I wear 2 pairs of padded cycling shorts and apply Drapolene nappy rash cream to my nether regions before commencing a ride. I've also tried various saddles and saddle positions, chamois cream and other various lotions and potions, but Drapolene seems to work best. After looking at the comments above, I'll try applying coconut oil and see if that works.
  15. My son is a pilot based at DMK...he thinks it's fine.
  16. According to THAI's own website, their fleet currently consists of 43 aircraft plus another 20 for Thai Smile, taking the total fleet size to 63. Prior to the pandemic, the airline had been operating six Airbus A380s as well as nine Boeing 747-400s. All of these large aircraft were sent into storage over the course of 2020 and it looks like they will be permanently retired. In addition, pre-pandemic, the airline also had a fleet of 15 A330-300s with an average age of 11 years with some of these being very young aircraft. Not sure what's going to happen to these aircraft but I don't think think they are operation, nor do they form of THAI's fleet on the website. So it looks like THAI's pre-pandemic fleet has decreased by a total of 30 aircraft.
  17. Also check fan for dirt/out of balance. Also check for loose screws on casing and fan shroud.
  18. I have successfully registered my condo with Immigration and have received a username and password. When my friends come to stay, I will submit their TM30 online. When I have input the required information, am I correct in thinking that I should just click on the "save" button and the information will be sent to Immigration? Will I receive some kind of receipt so my friends can show this when they extend their visas at immigration? Any information would be gratefully received.

  20. Thai AirAsia is using all 55 planes that it currently has available. Interesting that Thai Airways' fleet is now less than 50 planes (excluding Thai Smile). None of their 4-engine planes are being used. So Thai AirAsia is currently the largest airline in Thailand, in terms of fleet size.
  21. I got my last licence in Cha-am...took 45mins. Much quicker than the. 5 hours I had to endure in Nonthaburi.
  22. I used my VPN via the Asia server and it worked OK as well.
  23. They were having a problem their Asia server. They worked out a fix while they were working on the problem (see attachment). I've just been on Pulse and it seems the server problem has been fixed.
