  1. Indeed, if the school didn't start the application for a WP yet, you can stay until your visa (extension) runs out and that may give you just enough time to find another job.

As long as you're able to start a new WP application before your visa runs out, immigration might give you 1 or 3 months extensions waiting for your WP to be submitted.

    So, you're just in a bit of s_h_it........not ankle-deep

  2. Was there a few weeks ago and the beach was covered with chairs. Along the water there was trash floating everywhere. At the north end where the road takes a "Y" there was enough trash to fill three bags. I hope all of these venders loose their spaces as they don't care enough to get off of their lazy a$$es and pick up the trash that's around their space.

tt.........it's questionable whether the trash comes from the vendors along the beach.

I used to live right at the beach and EVERY morning, the city-workers came down to clear the trash, stakes from the fisheries and other crap.

As far as I can gather most of the trash comes from the island(s) nearby and the vessels waiting to be loaded or un-loaded at Laem Chabang.

  3. It appears you can reduce your risk of trouble by up to 99.9% in Thailand by avoiding just two things:

    1. bar girls/boys

    2. alcohol.

    and 3. beach booms.....and zebra-crossings........and motorbike-taxis......and buses........and traffic........and high-rise buildings......and song-taews............and police-checks.....and night-clubs............and.......and, but you're right........trouble is usually caused by drunken bar girls/boys. wink.png

  4. Indeed, don't be bothered about change of address notifications.

Officially the landlord should report this, but I think that the first one who actually did it still has to be born.

As for car and motorbike documents: don't be bothered and if you insist of having them changed, take care of it with your annual tax-payment.

  5. Using your home countries' DL should go along with an Intl DL and this combination can be used 90 days and as long as the Intl DL is valid.

However, if your home-countries' DL is in English it may be accepted.

Most important is your car-insurance; if they accept your home-countries' DL you're safe with regards to accidents. Worst case is a fine from the boys in brown of 400 baht for not carrying a Thai DL.

Personally, I never encountered any problems at police-checks carrying just my home-countries' DL.

  6. Got to love " for some reason "

Even better question is why was not there an officer in the back with them ?

Too hot or too much common sense ?

Prisoners in that situation are handcuffed to an anchor point in the back of the pickup so normally they're not going anywhere, therefore there is no need for an officer to be in the bed of the vehicle. Why should an officer have to suffer the discomfort of travelling with the prisoners?

That the prisoners where able to slip their handcuffs on this occasion is what is not normal.

If a policeman turns criminals into prisoners, they have to suffer the consequences too. Otherwise life is too easy for them. w00t.gif

  7. I'm not sure where the OP actually parked his bike, but the lock may have nothing to do with the odd-or-even parking days.

    I think it's more a matter of side-walk marking.........yellow-white or red-white.

Sometimes you have to look twice to find out which color it is....if any.

The trick with the impounded bike is just a way of creating an income for the impound-people as well as the motorbike taxi people.

BTW.......parking a motorbike at or near TukCom is a real disaster...........around 10 a.m. (TukCom's opening-time) almost all parking-spots are occupied by TukCom-employees or at least who are working in TukCom. Let's hope that TukCom II has more parking-possibilities.
