Thailand, specifically Pattaya & Phuket, has so often been said to be a haven for international criminals. It could be said that this is perhaps the only successful HUB that Thailand has ever been able to create. Is the United States trying to topple Thailand from that position? Allowing the leader of one of Thailand's most corrupt families onto its shores maybe they are. The U.S. cannot ignore and pretend they don't know that Thaksin is a wanted criminal on the run and that he has a 2 year jail sentance waiting to be served. Should the U.S. allow free passage for Thaksin to and from their land then that is pretty much the same as the U.S. raising the middle finger to Thailand's justice system.

totaly agree this dogs mind has been messed with as to turn him into a guard dog, this breed are some of the most intelligent dogs in the world used by the blind as their eyes and used as a gun dog to retrieve,i have never in my life seen one used as a guard dog.there must have been a history of abuse or neglect for the dog. it is remarkably out of character for the breed if well socialized
So true. If the owner had the capability to re-train the labrador as a guard-dog, removing its in-bred gentle nature then I'd have to assume that the owner would also know NOT to let his dog anywhere near his child. I doubt the former and we know the later not to be true.
I would put this dreadful attack down to sibling rivalry. The dog having probably lost its place in the pecking order of the family being placed down a notch and seeing whatever love and affection it had been receiving from its owners now being given to the new arrival decided to take matters into its own hands and remove what it saw as a threat. This has happened with human-human siblings so it comes as no surprise to me that it would occur in human-cannine siblings also.

all animals are still wild at heart.
Humans are animals too and with the amount that we kill of our own kind I'd say we are pretty wild at heart also.

the ban in accordance with the Election Act
A ban that treats Thai voters as if they are imature children. If they are so imature why let them vote?
And do they really think that stopping the sale will stop the drinking....I don't think so. It's just plain crazy.

Thailand ... the HUB of HUBS
HUBBA HUBBA don't you just love it.....

And if Thaksin is charged, tried, convicted and sentenced will he serve his jail time in the same way Sondhi is serving his?
Didn't know Sondhi also was a part of this scandal.
The whole goddamn nation is part of it as they put Thaksin in power knowing he is corrupt. Well those that voted for Thaksin anyway.

More often a smirk than a smile
-
The smile, in Thai culture, means something very different to the meaning in western culture.
Please enlighten me, what does it mean in Thai culture?

What a pathetic, whinging coward. He doesn't deserve to part of the human race. Jail time is too good for him.

July 4, 1986So what? We see typos all the time!!!!
And this doesn't make Abhisit a bad polititian. I'd take him over the crook Thaksin and all his cronies including his air-head sister any day.

Looks like foreign investers will be moving the factories to more friendly places, like Burma and Viet Nam.
I'd heard that in Vietnam foreign business had to have a joint venture with a Vietnamese company. The Vietnames got the 'joint' and the foreigner the 'venture'.

All Thai's should lower their heads in shame at this report.
-
I wish that the headlines be written correctly. Every time Thaksin's name is mentioned it should include the words "CONVICTED CRIMINAL" not just "FUGITIVE" but "CONVICTED CRIMINAL FUGITIVE". Tell it like it really is; he's a CROOK and has been found guilty of being so by a legitimate court of Thailand.

Stop all the underage children from driving their motorbikes until they are legally old enough to drive.
Jail and/or fine the parents who allow their children to drive motorbikes.
-
No wonder the kids won't eat their 'greens'!

Sixty-seven volunteer students
students 'teaching' students?!?!? What Thailand needs is qualified, English as a first language, teachers not unqualified students.

Has anyone spotted what passport the visa will be stamped in? I've been looking but can't find.
-
Do persons with Diplomatic Passports require a Visa. I thought that Thaksin was granted a Diplomatic Passport some time ago?
A convicted criminal with a diplomatic passport! Surely even Thailand wouldn't be that silly! Or would they?
-
He wondered why the US granted a visa to a fugitive former leader who had fled a jail term at home.
"If the claim is true, it means the US does not respect Thailand's justice system but insults the country's law and integrity,'' he said.
And the same would then be true of all the other countries that Thaksin has visited since he was sentanced; Laos, Cambodia etc. Didn't see anybody complaining then.

The only thing 'hub' about Thailand is that they go round and round in circles until they disappear up their own ... HUB!
