  1. Thailand will also seek to produce at least 10 percent of the overall power production in the form of renewable energy

I think they could make it 100% if they harnessed all the hot air & BS coming out of parliament. There certainly seems a neverending supply of it.

  2. come on guys, what are we all saying here, that she didnt keep her election promise? so what makes her any different to any other politician/leader

And just because every politician/leader lies that makes it OK. I think not. Failure to honor an election promise is akin to fraud and should be punished as such. Only when polititians stop lying can we say we have proper government.

  3. I've been using true online billing for months now to pay my internet by credit card. I just tried to pay this month and the whole system has changed. After some time I managed to find my bill but can't pay it as I seem to be going round and round in circles with Thai language popups even though I'm supposed to be in English according to the language icon and the URL A phone call to 1686 told me that the new billing system was not working and wouldn't be until sometime next month. I was asked to find another method of payment.

As they have taken away a working system and replaced it with a non-working one I think they can wait. What kind of IT department destroys a working system only to replace it with a non-functioning one. A stupid one I think. And as for all the silly twitter "like" buttons all over the place on a https (secure) site...well that proves to me that they don't have a clue what they are doing technically.

I hear ya, exactly the same for me, been paying my bills with them for about 2 yrs then i log in and all changed and cannot pay my bill either it keeps going round in a infinate loop.

And who the hell is goin to use the like button for twitter or facebook when they are paying bills, that is just stupid man and im suprised a big comapny like true allowed it!

Glad to see that I'm not the only person affected by True's disfuntional website. They may be a big company but they are run by small minds.

  4. This is very sad commentary on Thai bureaucracy and lack of concern for its own citizens. The hospitals refused to accept the lab reports, well okay. The women agreed then to pay the 700 THB for a new testing at an "approved" lab. Then the hospitals rejected the ones requiring treatment anyway. This is inexcusable.

I disagree, in this country it is quite excusable and absolutely nothing will come of this. All the while, on the way to work this morning I saw one ferrari, two porsches and more benz's I could count. I never see cars like this in the west where they are about 40% cheaper to buy.

Makes me laugh when Thais tell me this is a poor country; it is not. It is a country where everyone is out for themselves and the wealthy really don't give a rats arse about people they consider to be "beneath" them.

That is why nationalism is so important here, to trick the poor into thinking all Thais are brothers when in fact it is an excuse for the rich to screw the poor.

    Spot on

  6. Because someone hasn't been personally mugged doesn't make a place safe. Just take a look at the crime stats for Pattaya. There are lots of violent crimes. Much more than for a similar sized UK or US city. Yes, Pattaya is generally safe during the daytime, but at night it's a different place.

Crime stats from where? Come on now. Fess up. There are no accurate statistics about Pattaya. And how do you know at night it is not safe? I lived there every night for 3 years. So I know. I hope the teacher recovers but don't make up reasons that you can't verify that the town is dangerous. It is not dangerous. Ask anyone who lives there.

I live there...28 years of living there and I've been mugged. So you cannot say it is safe. But I'm not saying it is dangerous either. Due care has to be taken just as it would be in any other city of its type around the world. Stay in busy lit-up areas and you'll probably be OK. Wander a little of the beaten track as I did and you could end up in trouble. Notice I said 'could' not 'will'. The odds of it happening? Well for me it was once in 25 years and it hasn't stopped me from living here it has just made me more careful.

  7. There are crimes like that everywhere in the world .... Pattaya makes no exception .... As well as many other tourists destination worldwide. Pattaya is not more dangerous than Ibiza , Nice or Miami .

the difference is this is Thailand, not Miami, LA, or even my hometown of DC. people come here thinking its safe when the truth is its not. you have to watch your ass just like anywhere else. and you should never go out alone. by preaching that Pattaya is safe, you are only putting other tourists at risk. it would be the same as telling people that bus or van transport is safe.

i always thought Pattaya is a cesspool - the worst of Thailand. i prefer almost any other province or city.

I go there every weekend by bus or van transport. Pattaya is perfectly safe. You have no idea what you are talking about.

Pattaya is not as you quote "Perfectly Safe"...muggings happen..I was mugged 3 years ago...an aquaintance 4 years ago...both to get what little money we had on us...no vendetas, nothing mysterious....just to get what the muggers could...So you cannot say Pattaya is perfectly safe just because you have not been attacked. Is it more or less 'safe' than anywhere else? I don't know. I'll leave that for others to say as I know liitle of the world having spent the last 28 years in Pattaya.

  8. Yes, 100,000 baht a day in hospital charges seems very high.

I guess he's on a life support machine, but the charge is well over the top. My wife was recently hospitalised and spent a week in a private room / intensive care in a hospital in Singapore for 140,000 baht.

I would guess it depends on surgery charges if any....my 3 days in Samitivej Sri Racha cost 450,000 including a stent procedure.....I'm lead to believe that BPH would have charged me over 600,000......
