Treasury, IRS to Launch “Get My Payment” Web App Next Week

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of the Treasury and IRS will launch the “Get My Payment” web application next week. The FREE app—which will be found at IRS.gov—will allow taxpayers who filed their tax return in 2018 or 2019 but did not provide their banking information on their return to submit direct deposit information. Once they do, they will get their Economic Impact Payments in their bank accounts quickly, instead of waiting for a check to arrive in the mail. “Get My Payment” will also allow taxpayers to track the status of their payment.

“Get My Payment” is an online app that will display on any desktop, phone or tablet. It does not need to be downloaded from an app store.

For taxpayers to track the status of their payment, they will need to enter basic information in the “Get My Payment” app:
 

• Social Security Number
• Date of birth
• Mailing address

Taxpayers who want to add their bank account information to speed receipt of their payment will also need to provide the following additional information:
 

• Their Adjusted Gross Income from their most recent tax return submitted, either 2019 or 2018
• The refund or amount owed from their latest filed tax return
• Bank account type, account and routing numbers

Treasury and the IRS encourage taxpayers to collect this information now, through their tax preparers or other means, so they can submit this information in the app as soon as it is launched and get their money fast.

Americans who did not file a tax return in 2018 or 2019 can use “Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info Here” to submit basic personal information to quickly and securely receive their Economic Impact Payments.

Americans who filed 2018 or 2019 tax returns with direct deposit information or receive Social Security do not need to take action. They will automatically receive payment in their bank accounts.

“Get My Payment” cannot update bank account information after an Economic Impact Payment has been scheduled for delivery. To help protect against potential fraud, the tool also does not allow people to change bank account information already on file with the IRS. The IRS does not initiate contact with taxpayers by email, text messages or social media channels to request personal or financial information. We urge taxpayers to be on the lookout for scammers and email phishing attempts about the COVID-19 and Economic Impact Payments.

The info is from Thai Post and that is or both ways, 3 months. As for Fedex and others I tend to say no also but you need to contact them directly by phone to confirm. Just tell the to list package as "garden supplies", NOT seeds.

Americans can expect coronavirus rescue checks 'within 3 weeks'

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said in a Sunday morning interview that qualifying Americans can expect to see their $1,200 checks deposited into their accounts "within three weeks."

Mnuchin, who played a lead role in the $2 trillion bill’s passage, told CBS’ "Face the Nation," that there will be an online system created so Americans who are not signed up, can do so and skip waiting for a physical check.

  

 

 

 

 

 

 

"We expect that within three weeks that people who have direct deposit information with us will see those direct deposits in their bank accounts," he said. "And we will create a web-based system for people where we don’t have their direct deposit they can upload it, so that they can get the money immediately as opposed to checks in the mail."

Individuals are eligible for payments up to $1,200, but that decreases for those who earn an adjusted gross income of more than $75,000 a year. The bill says that the payment is reduced by five percent of every dollar above that mark, or $50 for every $1,000 above $75,000.

Mnuchin told "Fox News Sunday" that he believes that by the third quarter of 2020, Americans will see an economic recovery with production and employment levels back up.

"I don’t know what the numbers are gonna be this quarter. What I do think is, we are gonna kill this virus," Mnuchin said. "We’re gonna re-open this economy. And in the third quarter of this year, you’re gonna see this economy bounce back with very large GDP numbers and low unemployment back to where we were beforehand."

Not necessarily. Back about 2009 in Chiang Mai totally out of the blue I received in the post a brown envelop with a window  that I could see a green federal check. The envelope was addressed to me at my address at the time. I opened it and I be ... a refund check from the IRS for about 200 dollars. About two weeks later I went to my bank (Bangkok Bank Thapae Road) for business and deposit 3 checks, two being personal and the 1 from the IRS. When I received my bank book back I was surprised that the IRS refund check had been automatically credited to my account. The bank told me that all US Federal checks were honored this way by Bangkok Bank.

I am 72 and live about 2 km from  Surin Immigration. I ride an electric scooter all about and even visit SI. There are holes in his story. Never had any issue with Surin Immigration.
