  1. If US forces go and take the island, they will be 'fish in a barrel'. US combat deaths would be unacceptable... no one has clearly explained what we would be going for, what the objectives are. American culture is not really into 'glorious martyrdom" view of death in 'incursions' or 'excursions' or another grift to help his investment friends
  2. per report "Wildfires, bolstered by climate change, played a primary role in degrading global air quality in 2025." That may be true in N America (Canada is most polluted in N America.... who'd a thought?) and Australia, but I'd hazard a guess that agricultural burning is major contributor here (Don't think those are "WILD fires"... they are SET fires") Helps explain why Chiang Mai is 3rd most polluted world city but Bangkok is way down there at #32. Many times air is worse here in Jomtien than it is in Bangkok. Humans haven't learned the old adage "You don't sh*t where you eat"
  3. Did a 'safe passage' fee have to be paid first?
  4. Hmm I wonder if the owner might say "You stomach hurts. Let's take you to a clinic to have your stomach pumped"... what sort of reaction might come from Cheap China?
  5. How will this be enforced if it becomes law? Will cops be ducking into movie theaters at just the right time, or come for the whole show? Sporting events? Mall cops? Like many of the laws here, they don't seem to think through just what the law would require to have 'teeth', further eroding any respect of the law that may exist.
  6. On the bright side, more than half the population doesn't expect a foreign attack within the next five years....
  7. "the latest move by Donald Trump to promote a traditional view of the explorer’s legacy." ought to be "to divert attention from: 1) war in Iran 2) Epstein 3) TSA lines at airports 4)gas prices soaring 5) his dementia Choose no more than two, but you may come back for seconds if you clean your plate
  8. Yeah, let Iran sell more oil! A mastermind strategy! That will teach them!
  9. in the same cricket pitch price bracket as US passport, fwiw
  10. "..Trump said, “We don’t need any help, actually,”" Use of the word 'actually' is a 'tell' Trump is fibbing. Others include 'to tell the truth' and use of his 'accordion hands'.
  11. Will parties still be allowed to sell titles in exchange for 'donations'?
  12. New York high profile real estate rapists... there's this other high profile real estate guy, adjudicated rapist... what was his name? has some high government position I hear...
  13. "It's a fine line between clever and stupid" Crossed the line here, eh
  14. Lots of 'unverified reports' Hey,,,,, trick question: what does the 'I' in 'FBI' stand for? INVESTIGATION.... not likely with Patel firing agents for doing investigations....
  15. Maybe 'holiday from heck' but not being able to fly out is hardly 'hell'. OMG have to spend a few more weeks in Thailand....
  16. Buddhist monks attempt to fill the gap, but they aren't really trained in psychiatry. In US there are about as many counselors as there are 7/11's.... here, scarce as hen's teeth
  17. Had a very cheap American friend who didn't want to pay for new US passport, so he steamed off an old Thai visa, one that takes up an entire page so he could squeeze one more trip in. He got a good stiff talking to from immigration but they still let him in. I think it was 30-40 years ago I heard that some mid east countries wouldn't let you in if your passport indicated you'd been to Israel, so Israel would give separate paper visas. Or so I was told...
  18. It would be a shorter trip for those stealth bombers than flying from Missouri...
  19. Naked Foreigner Arrested in Pattaya Linked to Speedboat Theft AttemptNever saw headlines like this back in my hometown. Gotta love some aspects of this place!
  20. It is very easy to make your own mayonnaise if that matters all that much to you. Google recipe... easy as can be
  21. Amen to that. But I like to walk.... Been here 20+ years, passed soooo many condo projects with big sign "EIA Approved!"... Just what part of the 'environmental impact' is 'assessed'? Methinks traffic impact is never included, as even important things like water/sewage are glossed over. This Savannah can only support so many termite mounds.
  22. He's heartbroken? Over the years I have met many Iranians here & invariably good hearted people, generous.... imagine their heart break if they happen to get blown up in Iran. This poor German fellow has been inconvenienced. Iranians are in stage one repaly of chaos of Iraq war
  23. Or maybe just US ICE 'agents' on a field trip. Hmmm Pakistan is now having a dust up with the Taliban, who they supplied and sponsored for decades... would be Talisymps causing the ruckus? or..? So hard to keep the factions straight in God's monkey house
  24. I thought all the phones were made in China these days..... I'd bet it is crapola cheap Chinese chargers that caused the fireworks...
  25. Agreed, but even more important IMO is do not rent jet skis to people who are drunk!!! "Mr Manvendra was heavily intoxicated, with slurred speech and unsteady behaviour at the time of his arrest." I assume he didn't get drunk on the jet ski, the jet ski renter could tell he was plastered when he rented. The jet ski renters are liable for at least a portion, if not all, of the medical and punitive damages the insipid drunken Indian caused.
