No Coffee Crisis: Supply Steady, Prices Stable, Assures DIT
Emdog replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I think the topic is coffee, and that wouldn't include whatever those bags of chemicals happen to be. 😉 -
ah those mototaxi drivers, pillars of the community. I've seen Thai motorcycle drivers pull over on Jomtien Beach road an pee on a fence or empty lot more times than I can count I guess "peeing on public area" is one of those restricted occupations

Luxury Furniture Fuss as State Audit Office Faces Backlash
Emdog replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
You all are being to harsh: all that expensive furniture and such was to provide samples of ways money could be corruptly spent. Train those young investigators what to look for... -
Bangkok Teams Up with Airbnb.org for Earthquake Relief Accommodation
Emdog replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
No one was living at that uncompleted government business office.... so no one lost accomodation I've heard no reports of any condos, hotels, etc damaged so much as to be unusable. So what is this about giving rooms to 200 people (out of a population of maybe 17,000,000)? -
Drunken Hungarian Man Sparks Chaos at Building Collapse Site
Emdog replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
"Authorities eventually brokered a deal requiring the foreigner to pay only 300 baht for the journey, which the driver contested, citing the initial 4,000 baht agreement given the five-hour trip. " 300 baht is way too little 4000 baht way too much Five-hour trip is off by at least 3 hours, probably more, given that it was 5:30 am. author never taken a trip from Pats to Swampy? -

Disney’s Diversity Policies Under Federal Scrutiny Amid Trump’s Crackdown
Emdog replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Disney is a private company and as long as they don't violate laws, can do whatever DEI thing they want. If they want to "go broke by being woke", that is their choice. A true conservative believes gov should keep out of private businesses and private behavior as much as possible: it is none of the governments damn business. Fascists however believe the gov should be in on every sort of behavior and or thought: all are there to serve those in power. sadly many posters here think they are conservatives when they are fascists in reality -

Pattaya Police Launch Strategic Clampdown on Crime Surge
Emdog replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
Seems cops are only good at standing at attention in large groups for photos (as above) while the city goes to hell.... "...utilising the Stop, Walk, and Talk approach to strengthen community relations" upgrade from "fish or cut bait" scheme that followed "walk, don't run" crime suppression implementation -
Thailand Ranks 3rd in Global QR Code Payments, China Leads
Emdog replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I mentally time those transactions at 7/11s and food carts. Typically takes 3X as long as I do just paying cash. Bonus of QR is you are giving away valuable info on your spending habits etc that can be sold for a pretty penny. No one would care where my money goes, but I'll be darned if I let those banking types get it for free -
USA is the world's largest oil producer, has been since 2018. Flying off half cocked lacking facts seems to be a deranged Trump syndrome.... we use more, produce more and export more than any other country. Google it But more drilling permits don’t appear to be needed. That’s because there are more than 6,000 approved permits for oil and gas companies to drill on federal lands that are available but sitting idle and not being used, Your absurd lack of interest in reality is dangerous, all the bs about Biden "killing off jobs" Jeez, I don't want to say willfully ignorant, but that is the case here

Careful, your ignorance is showing. ICC does not stand for "Interstate Commerce Commission" in this case. It stands for INTERNATIONAL (that means more than 1 country, fyi) Criminal Court. They brought many of the butchers from Serbia to court. "The ICC has publicly indicted 69 people. Proceedings against 35 are ongoing: 30 are at large as fugitives, one person's case is in the pre-trial stage, and four are on trial. Proceedings against 34 have been completed: three are serving sentences, seven have finished sentences, four have been acquitted, seven have had the charges against them dismissed, four have had the charges against them withdrawn, and nine have died before the conclusion of the proceedings against them" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_people_indicted_in_the_International_Criminal_Court Israel, US & Russia not part of ICC, but the indicted can still be arrested and sent for trial if they venture into signatory country. Not joining doesn't get you off the hook.... You clearly don't care about the rule of law and genocide is just fine with you

The DOE is not in charge of basic education, that is up to states. But you, being educated, should know that... oh, you don't... hmm. Florida good example with book bans and anti woke agenda. DOE fills gaps... special education funding etc, which for small districts would be budget wrecking, so without fed help they would just send handicapped kids off to church basements like before 1972 (Nixon admin, BTW) when PL 94-142 equal ed for handicapped law was passed by Congress and signed by Pres Nixon. Large part of DOE involves student loans so less well off can go to college. Idiot Trump says that will now be handled by small business admin... showing us how dumb he can get... SBA not there for that in any form, never handled those millions of loans and grants PLUS Trump/Musk cutting that dept in half to boot.

Clearly you aren't a scholar "Congress created the current Cabinet-level department in 1979 through bipartisan legislation that consolidated various educational programs that were previously spread across different agencies. The Constitution doesn’t give Trump the power to close the department because it was created through legislation, and the president can't unilaterally overturn laws. Trump has not challenged the legislation creating the department as unconstitutional, which would kick the issue to the courts to sort out." I picked USA Today as it is not seen as liberal medium https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2025/03/06/constitution-trump-education-department/81749837007/

Low life criminals. We are not at war, full stop. BS to say "enemy combatants": enlistment papers? Uniforms? military bases? Besides, if they were what you say, there is the matter of Geneva conventions on treatment of prisoners of war. Why Mr Putin and Bibi need to be careful where they travel to, as they are indicted war criminals... or perhaps former Philippine dictator now held for ICC trial over his "extra judicial" killings.

Not blue, red, but yours was an ignorant guess, so we are failing educationally. With Mississippi leading the pack, about 22% of it's ed budget comes from Feds. Trump is a prime example of educational failure. I knew more US history and Constitution facts when I was 11 than he knows now... and he went to private schools and was enrolled (doubted he attended) at Ivy League Business school and still know squat about tariffs. Can't fix stupid Check this out

Bangkok Grapples with Alarming Air Pollution Levels
Emdog replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
"Bangkok Grapples Endures with Alarming Air Pollution Levels." There, fixed. "grapples" implies some sort of struggle or effort. Here the government rolls over and plays dead.... or maybe they aren't playing?
