Dumber than a bag of rocks. Even in 5th grade we had heard of and knew of "the Missouri compromise" and other attempts to "negotiate" a way to avoid the civil war. And Trump supposedly went to an Ivy League school. How can a person do that and still come out more ignorant than a 11 year old?

Thailand Sets Up Emergency Center for Impending Haze Crisis
Emdog replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
"The EOC’s objective is to collaborate with other agencies to keep a close watch on environmental conditions and health repercussions." As we all know, simply looking at a problem is enough to solve it.... not! "Dr Opas emphasized the importance of addressing the root causes of PM2.5 pollution, which are primarily linked to vehicle emissions and industrial activities" The AQI for Bangkok right now is 112. At Lovell school in Pattaya it is 153. Half of Pattaya is seashore, so little air pollution should come from the sea.... levels around Laem Chabang industrial are lower. Are there really more vehicles here than in Bangkok? Hmm air flow from field burning? You tell me "... Ministry is moving towards renewable energy solutions, including the installation of solar panels and the future deployment of electric vehicles..." Such a pile of BS: why not simply say "We are going to do nothing"? California used to have abysmal smog & then got the political will to pass laws AND enforce them... Vehicle inspections and going after major polluters agricultural or industrial could make a difference. Gov is soooo pathetic and spineless. I guess saying "People get the governments they deserve" applies here -
Thai mother-in-law fatally stabs abusive daughter-in-law in Pathum Thani
Emdog replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Why didn't the husband have a job? Unless he was very handicapped, there are plenty of jobs out there. Laziness is not considered a handicap. Maybe could get a job he didn't like, or maybe wanted more pay, but I would bet many of us have had to take jobs at some point that weren't ideal and didn't pay what we thought we were worth. Oh, and why didn't the mother in law have a job? -
U.S. National Debt Skyrockets to Unprecedented $34 Trillion!
Emdog replied to CharlieH's topic in World News
there is no "skyrocket": that implies a 90 degree straight up launch. On one of the other posts, it showed US national debt since 2001: the slope increase looked like the side of a pyramid: smooth, no dips or spikes.... I wonder what would look like if included Clinton years: he did leave office with a SURPLUS... "I suspect he means that hard working, educated people who have been successful pay a "fair" amount to people who dropped out of school at 15 and cannot write coherent sentences and blame everything on Trump." More ignorant foolishness. Dunning-Kreuger in action. "Among college graduates, a mere 30% approved of Trump’s job performance, and 67% disapproved. Even among non-graduates, only 42% approved of Trump, and 52% disapproved. The only education group to give Trump higher approval than disapproval ratings were white non-college graduates, where 52% approved and 43% disapproved. Among white college graduates, those disapproving of Trump’s job performance (66%) was more than two-to-one higher than those approving (32%)." https://www.forbes.com/sites/michaeltnietzel/2020/06/15/biden-vs-trump-the-college-education-divide-may-be-wider-than-ever/?sh=5db2ef2a7999 -

Two Injured as Motorcycle Collides at Pattaya Intersection
Emdog replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
"Another motorcycle, a Honda Wave 110 in blue without a license plate, also sustained damage. A Thai male rider in his twenties was found injured, lying in a pool of blood." Do cops ever stop drivers without license plates? Did this Thai male in his twenties have a name? Seemed to be no problem with the name of the receiver of the young man's reckless driving. Looking at the wreckage, must have been going at a fairly good clip, ya think? Good he was injured and couldn't run away. -
Opinion Editorial: What’s in Store for Pattaya in 2024
Emdog replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
Not "brand new slate".... term would be "clean slate"... but Pattaya has neither.. that implies some sort of new team running the show. "the so called grey sector"... we talking "working girls (and boys)"? I've never heard that sector of the economy referred to as "the grey sector". They do seem to be correct regarding many more domestic tourists on the weekend, I'll give them that. -

Chinese tourists boost Thailand’s hotel sector with rapid recovery

Bragging to her friend Linda Tripp was how the Monica services came to light "After Lewinsky revealed to Tripp that she had been in a physical relationship with Clinton, Tripp, acting on the advice of the literary agent Lucianne Goldberg, began secretly recording phone conversations with Lewinsky and encouraging Lewinsky to document details of her relationship with the president" Tripp was charged with illegal taping, but since she helped Ken Starr, case was dropped. Erawan Shrine: The bombing and astonishing comeback
Emdog replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
"Shockingly, an ethnic Uighur dissident and an accomplice were arrested for this horrendous act..." Didn't surprise me: Thai gov sent a planeload of Uighurs who had UN refugee status back to China shortly before the bombing. What became of those refugees we can only guess... or maybe do a bit of research... Besides all that, the bombing was eight years ago, not something that happened last year... -

"Thailand has a perishable inventory of 787,000 accommodation units of all types..." Perishable? say what? 2 week shelf life then building collapses? That photo looks like very very poor attempt at photoshop: bottom out of focus, wrong shadows section just sort of melts away... thank goodness not real: I would hate to be within miles of that scene if were real
