The chance of success is zero!   That has been proven for decades.

Mathematically speaking, if you pose a question that requires a favourable or negative reponse, the answer cannot be zero.

You might remember that the Lib Dems coalition with Cameron Tories in 2010 proclaimed in Cleggs prospectus that they would involve the coalition government in treating all ex pats pensions the same as in the UK.  That never happened, because it was dropped, not because it required an answer.

Why? They are getting their annual increments while "we" are not.

You don't really want to go there. The UK government is attempting to make radical changes in pension entitlements, including age limits. It's enough to cause unrest, and the fact that we  already suffer doesn't stop the pensioners complaining.

I think this is the most inappropriate time to petition the Gov who are under seige with public unrest as cost of living escalates. I reckon our chance of success is close to zero.

Thailand follows China like a little boy - or it seems that way.

Honestly, this new variant varies from no symptoms to a cold as long as you're vaccinated.

    Oh well.

Or have natural immunity, which is what China should be realising, providing hospitals are not overloaded with serious medical condition cases.

Its just been found recently so obviously more reliable stats are needed although they also said:

The WHO report echoes the 11 March UK Health Security Agency report which said, "As of 22 March 2022, there are 637 XE cases in England. These are geographically distributed across England and increasing in number, with the first case detected via sequencing on 19 January 2022, and most cases in East of England, London, and the South East... The median growth rate is +9.8 per cent per week. Numbers were too small for the XE recombinant to be analysed by region."

    From the UKHSA latest update:

"We run a statistical model to calculate the probability of a sampled genome being from the novel variant vs from the control over time. Growth rates are calculated per week or per day and are expressed on a log scale. A logistic growth rate of 0.5 per week indicates that the variant is increasing by a multiplicative factor of exp (0.5) =1.65 per week in comparison to the control. A logistic growth rate of zero would indicate no difference in growth rates between the 2 variants."

Yeah, thanks for the update. No doubt the Thailand government will ensure businesses will stay closed down for a few more months. I wonder how many have died through fear of catching Covid.

    Thats all we need..........????

WHO warns against new mutant 'XE' variant of Omicron; says more transmissible than any strain of COVID-19

This new variant is a recombinant strain, meaning it is a mutant hybrid of the two previous versions of the Omicron variant, BA.1 and BA.2, which spread across the world when it first became a variant of concern

This is the crucial statement from the above:

Susan Hopkins, UKHSA chief medical adviser, told South China Morning Post that XE had shown a variable growth rate but the agency could not yet confirm whether it had a true growth advantage. “So far there is not enough evidence to draw conclusions about transmissibility, severity or vaccine effectiveness.”

Comparing Covid deaths in my home country (UK) to here, I would say that Thailand have done a far better job.

The majority of UK deaths was at the beginning of the pandemic when there was no vaxxes and no medical understanding of what treatment would save lives. In contrast, for whatever reason, Thailand had managed to restrict the number of foreigners entering the country - or had simply not counted or released the death numbers.

Which brings us to the current situation where the UK are opening up while Thailand isn't.

So it's like comparing apples with pears, both are fruits but not the same.

  7. Unfortunately, Putin has been spouting lies on Russian TV totally in contrast to the reality that  media pictures shows. And the oldies watching believe it's the Ukrainian Hitlers that caused the war and must be exterminated by the great Russian saviours.

The good news from Ukrainian intelligence  - if to be believed with more than a pinch of salt - is that some of the Russian Oligarches are seeking to replace Putin before he threatens to instigate WW3.

I did not imply it is the norm ("some of"), and since you appear to do it for 'convenience', you shouldn't take offense, as obviously not referring to you.  Just them folks that complain about corruption, but will use when to their advantage.

No apologies from me because of your lack of proper reading comprehension.

Just lighten up, I'm not being serious over this...

Where have you seen stats showing its slowing.  I think your not looking in the right spots.....Today is the highest for the year so far and we are well on our way upwards still.

It would seem the Omicron B variant has taken over, and while it protects from people catching Delta the vaxxes were not designed to cater for Omicron, so there will be less people protected, however how many vaxxes are taken - which IMO is also an immune system health concern.

And then it will rely on people's natural immunity if they have recovered from Covid, but are still able to be infected, and general health as to whether hospital treatment is needed or not.

The worst medical condition that I understand for victims is a continuing bout of Long Covid caused by Omicron.  A friend of mine from the UK continues to be badly affected.
