Actually, vaccinated tourists won't care if the local population are vaccinated, and neither will these incoming tourists present any biological threat to the local population.

It would, of course, be good if the local population are vaccinated, but it has no bearing on the recommencement of mass tourism. The key factor is that all the incoming tourists are verifiably fully-innoculated.

I've been vaccinated and most certainly do care if I'm going to any unvaccinated country. Not sure where you got that bit of information from?

The US is having issues getting sufficient people to take the vaccine… issues that seem to be about more than politics (for once), and other countries are reporting similar results.  Wife just had second jab today at a place set up for 2,000 people per day that can only get 500 to come in.

Doesn't the UK have a take up rate of over 95 percent and they seem to be doing well now?

So get used to lockdowns. And no tourism. No one in their right mind is going to spend time in quarantine to enter a country in and out of lock downs while the rest of the world is getting vaccinated and recovering.

Seems very bizarre that I have to quarantine in a country that is far more unsafe than my own and having received both my vaccine shots. The news has been showing a world map of times when countries are expected to be fully vaccinated. Originally Thailand was forecasted to complete vaccination by 2023, although that date did come down a touch.

Thailand should do nation wide T cell tests to determine how may Thais even CAN get infected and have bad outcomes. So far despite multiple outbreaks they haven't even gotten within 10% of the road fatalities (which they live with year after year) so it's entirely likely that their immune systems are familiar with these SARS family corona viruses.

Can I have access to the genuine figures too please?

Remember, if one somehow does, somehow ,wind up being diagnosed with the magic ,wizard of oz malady,

one has a 0.03% chance of morbidity.

Dr.s around the world are coming forward confirming this.

The CDC  ( Center of Disease Control) in the US has reversed it’s findings, and has numerous pending law suits against it as we speak.

The “ cure “ in the form of an injection, and “test “ are dubious, at best.

One would not allow a stranger , with bad intentions in his house ,

why would you allow an electronic stranger ( max headroom, video stranger) in?.......why do you think they call it “ programming “ ?.

Take a moment, and have a look at this video on a man called Edward Bernays.

pull the plug on your TV, put it back in the box, and leave it there.

     ❤️????????????

If you catch Covid and are over 80 you have 1 in 9 chance of dying. What relation does that have to your figures? Or maybe over 80's don't count as people to you?

    Sorry but I disagree

The only difference now than the rest of 2020 or even 2019 when Covid was just as widely spread is now they test & now they see many positive asymptomatic cases.

The same cases as have always been since the Chinese were thick as thieves in Thailand during the initial outbreak

Just they never tested before period

Folks like to think the the Covid that always was simply sucked out of Thailand with all those Chinese tourist who left in 2019/2020 kind of simplistic

But forget all that lets just assume the silly often given scenario....half dozen girls sneaked back in from Burma after partying & thus all of Thailand is now infected

....ok what ever lets go with that as initial cause

So how are the hospitals? Over flowing?

How are the crematoriums? Full with bodies being burnt?

No....for what ever reason it is as it has been

Many older folks did die of a Super pneumonia in 2019/2020 out in rural areas not covid tested of course

so not attributed to covid as that would have threw a wrench in all the face they were gaining as a covid clean country

Maybe due to diet/body type/heat what ever maybe Thai's deal with it better? Who Knows?

Bottom line look at the hospitals & crematoriums...

What I am saying is the only difference your seeing now is not as you say "short term recklessness" after all recklessness is probably

why you live in Thailand...No what your seeing is reality of testing nothing more

You may want to look back at this post in a couple of months. Also, I suggest you go and have a chat with some of the doctors in the hospitals. The ones you can find at work that is.

OK I get it now . What with all the costs of returning to the UK i.e. pre flight covid test , ( 3-5000 baht ) booking and paying up front for 2 more pcr tests ( £ 200-£250 to be taken in the UK ) plus the increase in the cost of flights , plus any Thai quarantine costs , sure adds up .  However if a long stayer the costs are lower .However remember that even with a double inoculation it does not guarantee immunity to the virus  plus at the moment Thailand ain't what it used to be for fun .

And, like I've said before, straight out of any quarantine into a Thai lockdown. For the best will in the world and positive thoughts only, it's just not gonna happen this year.

I think by the time we get the list Thailand will be on the red list , even as it stands now because of the lack of testing .  You say " the decision will be taken out of my hands " why ? . If you are not a 2 week holiday tourist but will be a long stayer , buy a one way ticket which negates the return to the UK in the short term ( providing you have an existing visa ) . Am I right or have I missed something ? . One obstacle could be the lack of flights going to Thailand  if the situation worsens .

Where do you start with that? Lol. When I first went to Thailand I was on a 15 month visa with a border run every 90 days and that's slowly been reduced to 60 days with a pain in the behind extension of 30 days. I have been happy enough to do 2 months on and 2 months off. It's now not viable to do that with all the restrictions. It's not literally been taken out of my hands, the logistics of it all have made the decision for me. I think it'll be mid 2022 until Thailand has managed to complete some kind of massive vaccination. There's no way I would want to stay in Thailand for that long, even if I could.

The UK will be using a traffic light system i.e. green , amber and red for international travel and will be published early May . As things stand Thailand will not see normal tourism for some time . The red sector countries will be 1/ those with the highest infection rates 2/ the percentage of the population that has been vaccinated 3/ the percentage of population who have been tested 4/ risk factors akin to the country and their handling of the pandemic , so as far as the UK visitors to Thailand are concerned there will be next to zero tourism to Thailand for the foreseeable future . I wonder if the Thai authorities are aware of this development which may well be used by many western countries .

Green: country arrivals will need to take a pre-departure test as well as a PCR test on or before day two of their arrival back into the UK – but will not need to quarantine on return (unless they receive a positive result) or take any additional tests, halving the cost of tests on their return from holiday.

Amber: country arrivals will need to quarantine for a period of 10 days and take a pre-departure test, and a PCR test on day two and day eight with the option for Test to Release on day 5 to end self-isolation early

Red: country arrivals will be subject to restrictions currently in place for ‘red list’ countries which include a 10-day stay in a managed quarantine hotel, pre-departure testing and PCR testing on day two and eight.

Travellers arriving from ‘red list’ countries should pre-book a quarantine package before departure, and those going to ‘amber’ and ‘green’ countries must book test packages ahead of their trip too.

And with the current developments where do you see Thailand in the traffic light system? As things stand, in my opinion, it will be amber quickly changing to red then it's all over for this year. Don't take me wrong, I'm ready to head back as soon as I've had my second jab, allowing for the 14 days, but I think the decision will be taken out of my hands. Quarantine in this country is a step too far.

It works both ways you know, Thai tourists will now have to stump up 10 days hotel quarantine too when they visit abroad if they are declared a dangerous covid country.

And as things stand, too right. I can't speak for other countries but as far as the UK goes, our economy won't be hit the same as Thailands from lack of tourists, especially from the lack of Thais coming to the UK.
